  1. if i were you, tell him to up the money to $100 and buy a dayton 10inch - http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-632 i dont even think a $100 DIY sub could touch this sub, much less $50 dollar 25 watter 10 in sub. i think in the long run this is the best option. peace, scp53
  2. what is a B-12? i didnt know they made that model. am i missing something? EDIT- never mind. my mistake.
  3. lol. i really think i should have talked to this guys manager about the shitty attitude, etc with the rsw sub. oh well, ill do it next time if i have a similar experience elsewhere. scp53
  4. yes I do. The main reason i asked him to flip it around is 1) i have my own subs and I know it can make a drastic affect sometimes and 2) I ve seen forum members take there rsw's and run them backwards. also i should note that after the subwoofer was turned around it sounded tighter and less boomy. so in this case it helped. scp53
  5. i see your point. but i told him right out im interested in it. oh, and this room is no where near hot and he had a polo shirt on. and i also should note that even if i hadnt requested him to flip it around, i still would have told him to pull it out. hell, the driver was really dam close to the wall. i think that makes a sub sound bad when its firing really close to the wall(plus there was a corner near the sub too). so by either flipping it or pulling it out, it got teh driver out of the corner. if he really didnt want to do it, he could have just said managers wont let me or rules around here restrict me from doing that. those i would buy even if they were bs. what i wont tolerate is being a a$$ hole about the whole situation. thats unexceptable. scp53
  6. just to note, i offered to help but he wanted nothing to do with it. imo, the sub's not that dam heavy. hell you wanna talk heavy? i got a sub at home that weighs 120+ lbs and MUST have two guys to move. all this guy had to do was unplug it(zero force needed) and drag it out, turn it around, and slide/pull it back. not that big of a deal. hell, prob didnt lift a finger in the last hour and now you think he balks at taking 30 sec or so to move it around. whatever. if he's to dam lazy to do that ONCE in a great while he can stick it.
  7. i have found that some dealers near me wont let you demo at all at your home, some will, and some just need to be pushed a little and then they will.
  8. i completely agree with Mikekid's point. i can tolerate a less knowledgeable sales person. what I CANT handle is someone that is being a complete jerk and *** hole. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- toddvj - Wait a minute, you just said you had no intention of buying it. So you were making yourself a pain in the ***, while he didn't make a penny talking to you. If I had a nickel for every customer, who "maybe might think about buying something, maybe next year or so, who makes makes crappy work for me and wastes my time, I'd be rich. I would've told you to do it yourself, and walked out of the room. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- oh, and as far as me "considering buying the sub", how the hell would i know if i didnt give it a decent listen? what if i was a audio geek/tech like i am now but had never heard of klipsch or been on boards that talked about klipsch and the rsw? because i have been on here so long i could buy numerous subs based on peoples posts and generally speaking end up with a good product. but if you have never heard of a product, much less actually LISTENED to it, how can i say if im even interested in it? is there something wrong with a "thorough" demo? are these demo rooms not meant to give a thorough listen in? excuse me, but for flippin 1400 msrp, i think i dam right better get to listen to it for more than 1 min. i feel that asking him to tuorn it around is very minor. hell, it takes 30 secs to do. it took him more time to complain about turning the sub around than it did for him to turn the sub around, give me a angery look, and press play on the cd player to demo it. do i have to walk into these places thinking im gonna buy something? if thats the these people are going to be, they can kiss my rear cause im putting my greens else where. btw, i failed to mention i have listend to the sub one other time wiht this guy. maybe he held a grudge against me or something. maybe in his book im obligated to BUY a 1400 dollar piece of audio equipment with just a short demo? dunno. well, sorry for teh long post. not sure if it all made sense as im very tired. peace out, scp53
  9. im seriously thinking of calling him back today and make him shit a brick when i tell him "hey i ve decided im going to buy an rsw but instead of the 12,... i think im going to get the rsw 15.(sales person's face lights up on other side of phone[] . big smile, eyes about to pop out of head. after all, he has a huge commision coming right?). i was really impressed with that sub yesterday. however, (giving him pure bs.) Im going to the cities tomorrow and think I'll pick the sub up while im there. but, thanks for your time yesterday and if it wasnt for your being a jack @$$, I would have bought it right then!!! have a nice day...(imagine the anger and fluster on the guys face[:@])" what does every one think about that. id maybe do it. i guess im just still amazed at his really really crappy attitude. and on top of that his lack of technical knowledge and handeling of equipment. and just for extra emphasis, this guys attitude was REALLY bad. from his face and body language to the way he talked to me etc. you would need to be there to understand. i was so pissed when i was there i even gave him the byrd behind his back multiple times. probably shouldnt have done that but it made me feel better.[] well, sorry for the long post. laters, scp53
  10. well yesterday i had a really crappy experience with a salesman at FS. i came there and i have been there numerous times to hear the rsw 12. realistically i doubt id ever buy one because im a diy type of guy. but non the less i would consder sometime in the next year. so any ways i went there i wanted to listen to the rsw 12 and this one guy played it for me. and then, i asked him if he could possible turn the sub around cause the active driver was really close to the wall and the corner. he made a big a$$ deal about it and was like "if you buy this you can fidle with it all you want in your room." and i thinking- hum... i m about to possibly(well not today) drop money and this is the answer i get. i think for that cash its not that big of a deal. and then he's "well are you even going to buy it" or something like that. and im like well not today. finally we walked over and he tried to move the sub. then the rca was to short to turn the sub around so it had to be unplugged. instead he just told me its too short and he cant flip the sub around. then im like "its called unplug the rca cable, duh!". then he's like, dude were just too busy today(6 30 at night and like 3 cars in the lot lol. btw, this whole time he was being a jerk about it all. like i was bothering him to demo it or whatever. ) then he did put it around. and then when he turned it around he put his hands on the woofer as he turns it around. im like wtf mate? moron. then he almost blows it up because he turns the gain all the way up when he puts the rca into the sub. im just like "wow, he knows nothing". so then i demoed it and he had NO interest in answering my questions at all!! im like what mains are playing or just some real simple questions so i could see how well the sub would integrate with the mains it was playing with. he wouldnt help at ALL so i just walked over and fideled with the x over and gain. the onnly thing he told he told me was that it soudns way better the other way. im like, whatever. i thought it sound better. less boomy and tighter with it turned around. then was telling me it made no sense to hve the passive firing backwards. obviously he knew nothing. there are mayn subs that have ports in the back and sound fine. a passive rad is no different. finally, this one song ended that i had broght in, i pulled it out, told him "thanks" and walked out. i was seriously thinking of telling him i happen ot be going to the cities tomorrow so i m going to make my purchase there. in fact im going to get the rsw 15 instead. thanks for your demo time though and being a *** hole about the whole thing. so, i dont know where i was going with that one. just wanted to vent. any one else have similar experiences with FS or other stores. scp53
  11. dam, those people lost everything[]
  12. ive used it . i thought it worked real well for being free. really easy to use.
  13. the pictures are great. the bose gave me a good laugh lol. thanks trey
  14. Im terribly sorry to hear of your bad news.[] i'll keep you in my prayers. scp53
  15. yeah, i hear what your saying. the only thing that would concern me(just my opinion.) is the amp on the ultras. i personally have never owned them but because ive seen a lot of post about them in the 5.1 section, id be a little more hesitant. past that, yeah no doubt there better than the missions. as for a dvd player with pre outs? i actually have one and for what it cost, its sound alright. in particular i have the toshiba sd 4900 i believe. its like a 100 bucks or so. i got it for 80 i think. even has all the setup of speakers and such for the decoder. size of speakers, distance away, db's, and some other things. downfall is that there still cheap dacs(i think even the cheapest of receivers($200 +) are better than this one for decoding), and in my case, i cant do dts. it only outputs dolby. scp53
  16. seams to me that its definitley the amp. imo, i wouldnt spend to much money on it. maybe you should buy a amp from partsexpress.com and replace the ksw's amp. the problem would come in if that ksw amp is internally eq'd or boosted some where. but then again, some think the ksw subs are a little boomy anyways so maybe the a different amp would help flatten it out? i dunno. the other problem would be getting the amp to fit the box. you could just by a amp and run the wires up through the port and to the driver. cosmetically it wouldnt be great but sound wise it would be fine. i have personally done it with my subs for testing sake. the advantage to doing it this way is you could build a diy subwoofer later with the same amp or something. the amps i would look at are http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-804 this is a 240watt amp that has a nice x over(24db) and has soft clipping. it is the best of these 3 amps. i have seen a TON of people buy these on the pe forums and have seen no problems. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-750 this is a very new amp that pe started handeling. i dont know much about it in terms of reliability. has soft clipping and small size though. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-794 this is a very similar amp to the 240 above except that its 250watts, has a less sharp x over, and has NO soft clipping. imo, its a fine amp but the 240 is much better being its cheaper, has a soft clipping and a sharper x over. hope this helps. the real big reason id buy a seperate amp is because i repair would probably run near what a new amp would costs. thats just a guess. and what if u repair it and it takes a crap again? i have 2 pe amps(a 250 as already stated and a 500) and both are excellent. no probs ever. i ve had the 250 for over a year and beat the shit(its gotten VERY hot at times. burns you hand. ) out of it and it still works very well. and u also can diy later if u choose. k, nuff of my repetative talking and nonsense. sorry for the long post. hope this helps. scp53
  17. no one has any thoughts on this system? i thought for those looking for a system on the cheap and for something small this might be a ok buy. maybe not?
  18. http://www.mission.co.uk/product/m3series/images/loudspeaker_m3s_system_blk_lo.jpg for those that are looking for a really cheap theater system(5 speakers and a subwoofer) this may be the ticket. however, i dont know much about mission. ive just heard of them and thought they build decent speakers. this retails for $400 and now is 200. not bad. comments? scp53
  19. is it equally good for music and movies? i seriously might get one because i need something on the smaller side. my atlas is just too big in size. need to be mobile in the coming years for college. scp53
  20. texxas guy, just fyi, its a Titantic mk3 driver. not titan.
  21. i own the dayton titanic 10 and its a decent sub. however, the amp that it comes with is too small as it clips the driver easily. after removing the bass boost at 30hz(6db) it got better but still can clip easily. other than that its a solid sub/amp/cab combo. well built and good sounding imo. scp53
  22. its all for show and to get "stupid" spls. especially that jack hammer. alot of bass heads for car audio think all that chrome and stuff looks cool and could car less if it sounds good. again, all about spl. just me 2 cents. .. scp53
