  1. Solid stand's or spike's everytime.
  2. I bet they gave him something to think about.
  3. If they told us then they should be paid for teaching-no? When my mechanic work's on my car I do'nt care how he does it as long as he does it and I'm happy. May be sort of like asking a brain surgeon - How did you do that?
  4. Hi Spazz, Do'nt know if you need it but Home Depot's Plumbing Dept. has 2" wide gummy pipe insulation tape. Not the foam stuff, the flat doughy like substance, cheap.
  5. Well, Dean finished the crossover's for my 4.2's and I am very happy. I've had these speaker's since new and just recently started noticing how mushy the bass was and how the treble was just a bit too much. At this time I thought about letting my little Brother have them. Dean almost doubled the size of the crossover and it looks like a very clean job. After listening for about a week and letting them play 24/7 the treble is much, much smoother and the bass is much, much tighter, not mushy like I said before. During the re-installation I toasted the diaphrams with my torch, so I had them replaced with the titanium version by another Forum member. A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER...
  6. Absolutely, no doubt about it. The affordable way to do it. ...........................
  7. Hi Jim, That look's like a Blackfoot..? Years ago I built a ClodBuster and spent hours and hours on that thing. ....P W K.... interesting. Stripped it down and sold it for 250.00 cash, it was very entertaining and the neighborhood kid's were fascinated.
  8. Are the Gold Lion's R E A L L Y special? ............seriously curious.
  9. Dean is probably buried in work, he just finished some 4.2 crossover's for me. Just installed them but too tired to set them up and give a listen. They look much, MUCH different than the stock one's and are totally cool looking. Time to sleep...... Pat
  10. Frustrated?, Maybe it is time to tweak and have a bit of fun. Like Steve mentioned, upstream components or even crossover work by whomever... Dean G.? No, I don't have K-Horns but I have had Klipsch for some time and yes, it is time for me to start playing around with the above mentioned because it is enjoyable to tweak and hear differences. Maybe if Klipsch or any speaker maker used top quality high dollar parts first time around it might be too expen$ive to manufacture. I bet those do look very good in black.........kick back and enjoy!
  11. Man, You are one of the lucky one's... McIntosh is surely some good stuff.
  12. Andy, I have had one unopened bottle of alcohol in the house for the last 15 years and it is the Belvedere in the corner cabinet. ..Nice big tree in the foreground as well as the house (mansion) in the background. Anybody want to see a neat bottle, check it out next time you're in the store.
  13. While I'm killing you with questions.......Do they run hot to the touch? ......Enjoy.
  14. Well it's about time I heard something about those Mono Blocks! To me they are really interesting and affordable, and it seems they came out with the 100watt version. Are you getting any hum, hissing in the speakers or unusual noise at all with them? Reason I ask is in our house with the windows closed it is VERY quiet and the electronic equipment is just a few feet away. Most of the listening is done at lower levels and I like it quiet, except for the music of course . Glad you are happy , I'm still searching for the "good" sound.
  15. Hey, That's a bummer as it is pretty fun to be able to access places while at work .
  16. I'll volunteer to personally hand rub the power cords just so all that equipment is happy to recieve the power. The glowing color of those K-Horns is a real treat! I can't figure why our local dealer will not stock at least one pair of K-Horns, I know they would sell and it would introduce lot's of people to them {especially me}. Oh well, maybe slim trim and teeny tiny is the name of the game nowdays.
  17. With Audio sometimes the wives just don't get it, do they? I am anxious to see what the RVX floorstanders look like in person. The dealer here does not have them in either. With the RVX and the RSX for surrounds they would certainly look pretty sleek and go well with one another. Good Luck with whatever you choose.
  18. So what exactly was powering those Heresys? Today while at a local shop I saw my first pair of Heresys, used in a light color Oak maybe, for about 1K. I always imagined them to be much bigger but being a little familiar with Klipsch they probably put out a lot of sound. Also the midrange was not the "cone"...I'll be darned if it wasn't a horn .
  19. ooooooooohhhh.....I am sooooooooo glad to hear about this! Give the old Ovation Store a run for their money, hopefully. Probably go to the Northside first where all the good stores begin then down South by me!
  20. .....a little O.T. but for all you good folks able to get the 7's for those mentioned prices, I say jump on it! My local dealer may throw in a free soda pop if I pay one thousand each.
  21. Hi Silver, Glad to hear Outlaw fixed their noise problem {...If indeed they had any... } Those 200 watt monoblocks sure would look good right along side any black reciever being used as a pre,(especially mine). Outlaw is highly regarded affordable solid state equipment that many-many people own and are very happy with. Not really sure why some people have to put down other peoples equipment...hey, for all I know "their" choices for living conditions or most anything else could be apalling to most everyone else...but "they" have xxxbrand component to brag about and if someone does not have xxxbrand component then they are not worthy......the following is for people who fit the previously mentioned description..
  22. Source DOES mean a lot to me....My modest step up to a Denon #2900 from a run of the mill 100 dollar DVD player was huge! That ClearAudio player looks like it came from the planet Mars.......look's good! source is good..source is good..source is good..
  23. Big Black and Beautiful.........maybe I could set those monsters in the yard facing my open windows...
  24. Hi Ill, I know what you mean about the "more umph", I've been researching solid state and a few tube amps for a year or so. What I've found is Outlaw's and make a little noise that my be heard a short distance away which would be a big NO for me. An "outlaw" word search revealed about one hundred threads at Audiogon....lot's of varied opinions on them. At the AVS forum last time I checked the guy's were up to about eighty pages chatting about the Crown amps and the fan noise that may be fixed on the more affordable models. One other thing, {TO ME} the more power the better-no harm-....just take it easy on the volume. Good Luck with your search...............Pat
