  1. Wife looking out the the window, says to husband; "Are you sure you cleared those drains properly?"
  2. I had pair of stand mounts a few years ago. They had Dynaudio drivers. Those babies, although small, loved power. They sounded nice. Duntech closed down a few years ago, but they are now back. They've shifted operations from Perth, Western Australia to Sydney. They've released a new speaker which looks really nice. I haven't heard it yet.
  3. My brother and his family live in the Gold Coast - not far from the flooding in Brisbane. They're fine, but the impact of the floods is impacting on everyone up there. It'll take years before Queensland recovers. Unfortunately, the long-range forecast is for a lot more rain during the next 6 months. The worst may be yet to come. I live near Canberra which is about 14 hours drive away. We had minor flooding a few weeks ago. The power of water in full flight is awe inspiring.
  4. Neither Trey, nor anyone else was referring to pre-loved Heritage. If you can't afford the new stuff, I fully support anyone buying older Klipsch models and restoring them. I believe Klipsch even offers upgrades for some of their older models. It's far removed, however, to designing and building Klipsch-like products and marketing them as 'similar to', or 'just as good as' or 'better than stock models'. I just can't see how individuals can 'improve' on products that a company like Klipsch has spent big $$$$ and hundreds of hours of research. I'm looking forward to the new directions Klipsch will be taking with Audiovox... [Y]
  5. Hire me. I will do very little for a lot of money but you'll look like you're a bigger company. LOL!!!!!!!!! BTW. Size isn't everything. Remember what Mark Twain said; "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of fight in the dog". But size helps. That's why Klipsch is moving surreptitiously to take over Audiovox. []
  6. Well said, Trey. My thoughts exactly. And those that promote DIY bastardized Klipsch gear should hang their heads in shame... Buy new; and, buy Klipsch!!!
  7. Wow! Lots of doom and gloom here. I thought nearly every company has been doing it tough. Even my beloved Harley Davidson has had to downsize. Even if Audiovox does acquire the majority share holding in the Klipsch Group, there is no way they're going to break it up. Klipsch will continue on as before, maybe better, more efficient, more innovative, and you may find that Klipsch will have a little more money for R&D. In fact the change in the majority shareholding may very well cement the future of the Heritage line - and the job futures of Klipsch employees.
  8. Martin Logan are going through the same angst as it appears Klipsch Group is at the moment. I know you guys are concerned, but at the end of the day, nobody outside of the boardroom has any control over what's going to happen. In saying that, I hope we're not going to have the situation of; 'Klipsch today, gone tomorrow!'
  9. P.S. Don't ask why I sold the Klipschorns and didn't restore them instead. It was a moment of madness... Actually I will tell you. I intended buying a brand new pair of K'horns and I had no room for two pairs, plus the unpacked Belles! So I sold them (stupid, stupid, stupid!). Then I got sucked into the electrostatic thing, first with Martin Logan Vantages which lacked punch, then the Summits which were better when driven by a Mark Levinson monster amp that cost me many $$$$$$$... but that's another story. So I tried the other speakers before throwing my hands up in disgust. In the end I unpacked my poor lonely old Belles. I have never looked back. []
  10. I have never owned Maggies, but I have listened to them a lot. During the last few years I have been trying to find the sound that I like and I have owned lots of loudspeakers, including the following; a 1986 pair of well used Klipschorns; Martin Logan Summits; ATC SCM50 active monitors, and my current 'speakers; a 2005 pair of walnut Belle Klipsch (which I actually bought brand new just after the Klipschorns but I kept them in boxes). Which is 'better?' Answer... None really. They all sounded great in their own way. BUT, there's one thing the Klipschorns do that no other can - that is they can fill the whole room with sound so that the room becomes the loudspeaker, and you're sitting in the middle. Not even the electrostatics can do this. When you factor in the cost of amplification then only ATC (which come with built in ampliification), and Klipsch standout. The ATC's had HUGE punch and clarity - very similar to Klipsch's full horn designs. I love 'em both!
  11. I guess If you're going for a dedicated Klipschorn based HT, and conserving a dedicated 2 channel system isn't a consideration, then the absolute BEST way to do it, is to go for Klipschorns - front and rear. I guess a Belle for the center channel. One of the great things about Klipschorns, is their ability to disappear in the room. Had you considered trying the system just the surrounds first, and using the phantom center channel option on your receiver? This may work really well, and completely bypass the problems relating to center/ mains speaker mismatching. If the sound isn't to your taste, you could then look for a suitable center speaker. Relating to the surrounds, other than the Klipschorn surround option, I agree with all the other suggestions. They're all good options. It just depends whether you can find a good deal. Whatever you decide, a subwoofer is essential. I know the Klipschorns go low, but the addition of a sub to really bring out the low, lows, is a must. Obviously you can't place your sub in the corner, but you can get really good lows from placing your sub on the same wall as your mains, about a third of the way along the wall.
  12. I really like HT, but I'm still enjoying watching movies in 2 channel. If I upgrade my 2005 Belles to a new pair of Klipschorns, I would be tempted to maintain a 2 channel system. With the way the Klipschorns load the room, I would surprised if they didn't do movie sound even better than Belles. The options offered here are very good. I like the idea of Heresys. How about two pairs? One pair for surround and another pair to act as the centers. This would be less imposing than a single Belle. Or as has been suggested, the idea of a completely separate HT system in the same room had merit. This would leave the Klipschorns for 2 channel. There would be no need to compromise either the 2 channel or the HT system. My dealer is a BIG fan of this option. He sells premium 2 channel with no compromise, and often partners these systems with a competent smaller 5.1 speaker system with a generic receiver. You could wall mount the HT system so you'd hardly notice. I've been thinking of this option myself - One of the upmarket Synergy systems with an inexpensive receiver (Denon? Yamaha?) I've already got an SW-450 sub. Then I wouldn't have to worry about matching stuff with my Belle/tube amp combination.
  13. I've been underwhelmed when listening to any B&W speakers...
  14. Glad you like your Heresy III's. My Belles took a long time to settle in - or it took a long while before my ears began to appreciate them (I don't know which!). But the Heritage speakers offer a very rich presentation. You could try a sub with your speakers, but you don't have to spend a lot of money. Try one of the Klipsch models, you won't be disappointed. P.S. I've really only seen the cherry veneer version, so some pics of your walnut veneer Heresys would be appreciated.
  15. There's no need to spend big money ob subs. Especially when Klipsch offer so many inexpensive good sounding options. My personal favorite budget sub is the SW-450 which kind of replaces the Sub-12. It goes very loud and has great punch. It will match nicely with the Heresys.
  16. My local store has just received stock of the F10 system. I must say, the build quality is excellent, and better than the previous model. I haven't heard this system yet, but if it's at least as good as the former F1 system, it's a no brainer to buy. I always thought the previous F1 speakers could form part of a nice low cost 2 channel system combined with a budget tube amplifier and a decent CD player and/or a Project Debut turntable. The new F10 looks like a worthy replacement in this configuration.
  17. Some bolognese sauce might go nicely with that cable spaghetti...
  18. Craig, although I have my Belles in a mid sized room and they sound pretty good, some years ago I heard a pair of older La Scalas in a really big room. I too, was floored. I could not believe a pair of speakers could sound that amazing. It was this experience that led me to buying firstly KG5.5s before moving into the Heritage line. One day I will put my Belles in a room they deserve.
  19. I've now read some stuff on the Patrician. It sounds like a truly great find. Congratulations.
  20. Hi Steve, I've been searching for that other discussion. Is it recent? I've searched the 'net too. It seems as though this Patrician design is very old...
  21. ... and I read the rest of this thread discussing the K510/K69, particularly page 18 with the excellent pic of fyrpwr's JubBelle center channel. Phew!!!
  22. Thanks fyrpwr. I checked your system profile. It answered all my questions regarding the horn, crossover etc on one hit: Belle/510/K69 Delgado/Crites Passive Xover.
