I think I have grown too accustomed to my Belles to go to Cornwalls. I listened to a friends set not long ago and I did like it but then again I haven't met a Heritage I didn't like. I was complaining about lack of bass a while back but some tube rolling solved that for me. I think I was listening to the Brazillian Girls when I thought holy crap where did all that floor rattling bass come from. I would go for the Belles beautiful speakers beautiful sound. I think for SET amps the higher efficiency of the Belle would be better. Sometimes I am still surprised how much sound I get from 8wpc. I never expected to keep the SET amps but now they are hear to stay.

Thanks for all the advice! I have only heard my sub once and that was when i bought it and it was interesting. It was not a home theatre boomy bass which I was happy about. I have taken so much care with the rest of my system I don't want the sub to be a hinderence or weak link. I just want a little more bottom end bass for music but down to 18 cycles will probably be felt not heard lol.

The blue glow in my 300b tubes pulses to the music when turned up and the lights are off. Pretty cool!

This is not for a ht. The NAD amp I bought for my sub(custom isabaric 2 x 12' peerless drivers - specs below) was very ugly and dead on arival so I am starting from scratch again so I am going to just buy a new one. All the talk about the Cain Abbeys got me look ing at their site where I found the bailey sub http://www.cain-cain.com/bailey/index.html which looks beautiful and I noticed the plate amp/crossover on it after an email or two i learned that it was a Keiga 5250 http://www.madisound.com/kgamps.html . I figure if it is good enough for cain it is good enough for me and will not break the bank. My only concern is that the baily may be more efficient than my sub but I could be wrong. I was look ing at the 5250 which is 4 ohms 600W and the 5230 which is 4 Ohms 300W of course I figure the more power the beter for solid state sub amp. I looked at some plate amps on partsexpress but the price on these seemed better on these and the fact that cain used them was a plus for me. This is going to be used to hit 80 cycles down to 18 cycles lol my current setup is 300b set monoblocks, george wright preamp and belle's. Those are the first tube amps I ever heard and are on my list of amps I would love to own someday or the Quad II Forties : )

That would be a fun experiment at one of the CES or similar shows. You could blindfold the participants/vendors and have them all review the system say khorns and some killer tube gear : ). Perhaps even offer a reward for whoever guesses the right speakers. Hell I doubt I could do it but it would be fun to see what they thought khorns actually were. As they leave the demo hand them PWKs favorite button .

When I was finally shopping for La scalas or Belles I went to one of the only audio shops in Little Rock and it was a horendous experience. They had some khorns but wouldn't play them for me can't remember the reason why but i was sad. I was curious about the new klipsch line and while they did show them to me they assured me that the latest b&w were better but to me both sounded ok but I had gone to hear the mighty khorns. At this point I felt pretty bummed out and at last I asked about tube gear wooooo you'd of thought I shat right there on the floor in front of everybody. Then I was told how some niche groups liked tubes but I should look at their yamaha gear. I left the shop thinking how cool it would have been if they had only let me hear the khorns but never returned and have bought every piece I own off the internet or from friends. Who needs arrogant salesmen we have ears.

What are those wires going to the side of the cabinet with the little plastic piece on the top ? Never seen that before just curious.

I was mostly looking out of curiosity because you never know when you could stumble on a classic vintage tube gear cheap. Of course they look like they need a good cleaning and going over by a pro. Before I started reading this forum I probably never would have given an old Scott, Brown, WE, or marantz tube amp a second look know if I see one at a flea market or yard sale I am going to run with it.

The Abby's don't appear to be that small perhaps some cornwalls would rock the bedroom. I was about to purchase some abbey's on audiogon but the same day I was contacted by a seller regarding some Belle's. Thank god.

I haven't seen them with that color grill before wow! My Belles have the black grills but yours are dead sexy. If I didn't have so many upgrades to my system that I already need to do that would definately be a thought convert black to cane.
