That's goofy, look at the Klipschorn website page right here on klipsch.com. They're showing them about 10-12 feet apart. Although attached below is my "ideal" set up. Mix me a manhattan, light up a cigar and invite the ladies over.

Exactly. I guess that's what I'm interested in. I have pretty decent corners but in one of them, I will not be able to get the flush tight seal I used to have my house when I had Klipschorns about 10 years ago. It's going to have to be about an inch away due to some stone work. So now that I see people screwing wood on the backs of some older Klipschorns, I'm scratching my head and saying who-what-huh? Thanks for the comments, all. I would like to see what Roy might say about the new ones and if they measure any differently if they're tight sealed vs. a few inches away from a corner

Was it really that easy? the new Khorns have backs which allows non-tight corner placement. And I currently see 2 pair of Khorns on eBay with backs added to them. I've been absent for about 8-9 years but I never recalled people saying you could put backs on the Khorns for more flexible placement. There was always a lot of talk of "false wall" building but I don't recall anybody EVER mentioning you could close in the backs to give you more flexibility in corner placement. Is this a new phenomenon? I'm in the market for a pair and was considering ordering a new pair from Klipsch. But I also see a couple of nice used pairs on eBay with modified backs on them. I don't recall ever seeing that back in the 90's and 2000's.

Thank you for responding. I'll usually pay a premium when something is in pristine condition like these. "Average" is usually pretty ratty in my opinion. Plus these have cane grill cloth which I'm a sucker for! But I'd agree I could certainly work down from the 2800 starting point. That said, I suppose I'll wait. If I had these I'll always look at them and wish they were Khorns lol.

Wow, those are beautiful. I've never heard the Belles. How do they compare to Khorns which I know and love and hope to get a pair again here in the next 6 months. Note I'm right near Cleveland so these look interesting.

Thanks, good to know. Seems so much simpler than all that false wall folderol people used to go through. Maybe it's not so simple. Either way, I have nice corners so I'll be good to go.

Curious about closing in the back, so now tight corner placement is not as crucial. If it was that simple, why didn't they do that a millions years ago? Is that a sacrifice to market demands or will these really sound just as good as the non-closed in backs that are tightly sealed up into a corner wall. What would Paul say? PS. Hi Gary, Been busy with lots of things outside of Audio for the last few years, work, keeping my teens in line, learning to play golf. I still have some NOSValves rebuilt Dynaco relics, my TD124 and a pair of Klipsch Image speakers set up in a nice little listening room. Craig has bought a few parts from me over the years so I had to log on and see whats what with his new preamp. Good to see so many familiar names here.

Test, test and test. I usd to collect and clean all sorts of vintage gear. Rarely did "one method" work for all pieces. Is it a brushed aluminum face plate? If it doesn't have any kind of clear coat (those often yellowed) and since your lettering is engraved, you could use a variety of metal polishes like Simichrome or Fitz that would get the piece looking steller. Have a good thick terry cloth to get the polish out of the engravings but as long as you don't let it sit for very long, the excess polish will come right out. Might want to have a couple of toothpicks(with the tips softened up a little) to help clean out stuff in the engravings. Any kind of liquid or alochol is ok, but again, don't let it sit in the lettering engravings for very long or it can start to take the ink out with it. Just make sure to test in a small area (preferably a hard to see area) and start with less! Less product, less pressure, less rubbing. And work your way up as long as you're not damaging anything.

Hey make sure to write that down... perhaps in the manual like I should have done. I think I had to ask Mark twice which one was LOMC as the manual was written for the standard Blueberry. Although it's easy enough to tell once you hook up your tt. Everything arrive in good shape? Scott

My C22 sounded totally dull and muddy when I found it. Sent it off to AudioClassics for a refurb and it was one of the few truly "night and day" differences I've ever heard in audio. These vintage tube pres and amps absolutely need to be refurbished to sound like they're supposed to. Craig at NOSValves, Audio Classics are two professional places that can do the job.

I was never real impressed with those solid state Mac pre's. Maybe if you had one that was all serviced and refreshed? Take this though from someone who is very much partial to tube amps and the tube pre's like the C11 (or C22 but... those are pretty big bucks). I had a 26 and a 28 and found them kind of lifeless compared to my tube pre's. The vintage tube pre's also didn't always sound so good until they were professionally serviced though. I guess like JBryan said, try one but keep your Apt Holman for a time. Good thing about buying a C26 or C28 is you can usually resell it for what you paid if you find you don't like it.

Haven't been on here for months. Funny I saw this post. Visit the link to my old thread when I bought a pair just like these. Fair amount of information on them throughout the thread. They are a beautiful speaker and really do have a wonderful way with music. I used to remember all the old Klipsch = harsh = no bass etc. and quickly found out if these were harsh with no bass, then I like harsh with no bass! Mine had original boxes which might have added $150 to $250 or so the their value believe it or not. But I bought them for about $900 and sold them 3 or four years later for about the same. Bill, Yea, that's more in line with what I had heard people say and my own experience. I had just never heard anyone say "far superior" as the original poster has mentioned. I've owned Synergy, Reference, Heritage and now Icon. Never all the same time though

Where are you getting the idea that the Reference are far superior to to the Icons? I don't think that is the case. About the only way you will really ever know is to listen to them. I've heard the Reference line and I don't think they were superior at all. But I never auditioned the two side by side and it's been a couple of years since I've heard anything from the Reference line. Maybe if I was sitting here with both lines of speakers here in front of me I would change my mind however I've just never heard that the general consensus was that Reference were superior to Icon. Icons being newer... I don't think many forum members even own them. Currently I own the WF35 and really like them. From a pure audio standpoint, the best sounding speakers I have owned were the Klipschorns. But 'm settling for a little smaller footprint these days.

I have to post one more. There is an expresso finish on these things that is really one of the best I've seen.

Wow, good to be back. Just unpacking the Blueberry after a long hibernation. I think I have one of those Tele 12AT7.... but where.... hope I didn't throw that box away!

Hey all, it's been a long time since divesting myself of Khorns, La Scalas, Short Horns and two pair of Heresys. I've spent the last year living out of boxes while moving from one home to another that needed 100% remodel. My priorities have changed some while moving. The new decor is clean, simple and relatively modern. But dammit, I'll always be a Klipsch fan and though the Heritage no longer fit with my clean lined styling, these Icon WF-35 are BEAUTIFUL! You'll see the familiar Blueberry, NOS-VRD 45 Stereo and my favorite LP-12 flanked by these wonderful new speakers. The fit and finish is stunning. Really compared to the rest of flock sitting around Magnolia (Best Buy), I really felt these looked far superior in design and finish. I hate to get too detailed on the sound after just a few hours of listening. I mean, they do sound wonderful relative to the martin logans, paridigms and whatever else was up at Magnolia. They aren't going to outblast my old Khorns, pretty sure about that. But overall, I couldn't be happier with the sound and appearance. Way to go Klipch!
