  1. I offered him a trade for a $10K pair of Heresy's
  2. Thanks to all for the perspectives. I'm going to be patient and see if a nice pair of LSII's come available...and in the even that I give it some time with no success, I'll go the veneer route. Thanks again
  3. I'd love to stain my LS's however they've earned a beautiful patina over the years with many applications of Tung oil. Given that, I think it will be difficult for the wood to accept stain (other than a gel stain...and I haven't seen a gel stain that I'd be satisfied with). Veneer may be the way to go. I hadn't considered that option. Thanks for the reco wuzzzer
  4. Thanks for the perspectives. I'm leaning in the same direction...being patient and finding some LS's/II's/AL5's in Walnut or Black
  5. Looking at pair of Cornwall IV’s to ‘replace’ my mid-80’s La Scalas. I’m only considering moving to this option as my wife of ~30yrs has decided that my LS-BR’s don’t work with her vision for the new décor. I contemplated other options and determined divorce would be more costly than a new set of LS II’s or even AL5’s. That said, I spoke with a seller that has a used mint condition pair of Walnut Cornwall IV’s (that will fit with her majesty’s vision) for $4.2K. I’m tempted by the price but have concerns. I have a large open concept room where the speakers will be placed (13’Hx24’Wx28’D). I’ve immensely enjoyed the LS’s in this room but have apprehension about the ability of the Cornwall IV’s to fill it the way the LS’s have. Any thoughts for forum members will be appreciated.
  6. Looking for a used pair of La Scalas in Walnut. Located in Houston and willing to pick up if local/regional…am also open to purchase thru shipping. Thx
  7. Thanks to both Fido and rjw1678. Since you mentioned the Primaluna EVO400, I'm going to look into it as an option. Thanks again
  8. Purchased a pair of 80's LaScala's several months back...and am looking to team them with a good/matching amp. Came across a McIntosh MA352 that I'm considering but don't have enough knowledge as most folks on the forum, nor do I have the experience with higher-end audio. At the present, I feel sort of like the newb who walks into the whorehouse with a fist of cash, admiring the drapes as he's picked dry...I'd rather not be that guy. Any perspectives regarding teaming of that amp with the LaScalas? Also, the equipment will be placed in a fairly large room 22'Wx35'Lx12'H if that's any help. Greatly appreciate any thoughts.
  9. Thanks again for these Phil. I absolutely love them. My only problem is that I now found a set of Belles that I also want...and will probably purchase.
  10. Thanks to all for the input and guidance. I was able to find a great pair of all original, raw birch, La Scalas from the mid 80's. Picked them up today and excited to set them up. Thanks again, Dave A, Jimjimbo, Sancho Panza, billybob, wvu80, and DCaIrvine
  11. Thanks for the 'welcome' billybob. Actually I've been a forum member since 2004 but sold my Heresy's soon thereafter as priorities changed with having a young family. At that time I dropped off the forum. Now that the kids are out of the house, I'm excited to get back into the pleasure I receive from listening to a great sound system and learning from the many sages in the Klipsch forums/community. And thanks jimjimbo for your perspective re price range
  12. Thanks for sending Dave...this is extremely helpful. You've saved me upwards of $1K (provided I can find a seller, with a good pair)
  13. Any perspectives on the price range that would be considered reasonable for a set of La Scalas in good condition?
  14. Thank you for the posts. I'm somewhat leery of La Scalas from CL and would prefer buying from forum members. That said, I sold my Heresys in 2005 on CL. Once again, thank you for the responses.
  15. Looking for a reasonably priced set of La Scala's. Located in Houston but willing to drive to most areas of the state...Austin, Dallas, SA. Please text 813.460.1445
  16. Thanks for the reply. Although not exactly the same (gold post versus red/black), I did find posts on parts express that I may be able to use.
  17. I ordered a set of replacement binding posts for my Heresy II speakers from the parts department and unfortunately the set they sent were too short on the threaded end (on the inside of the speaker box). I have not yet followed up with the parts department, but according to parts this was the only posts they had that may fit. Does anyone have any ideas on where to acquire a longer length speaker binding post for Heresy II's. The threads (on the interior side of the posts) measure about 3/4 of an inch. I purchased them back in 1989 - not sure if this is relevant. Thanks.
  18. Not sure of the name of the part. Both (red and black) speaker wire connection posts broke off (the metal posts themselves). I am not sure if the posts can be replaced or the entire black round unit that fits into the back of the cabinet needs to be replaced.
  19. I have a pair of Heresy II's that were damaged in a recent move. Where can I get parts? The serial # is 8649197 Type H II-BR.
