  1. I would love the RSW-12, But in this case here in Australia it is double the price of both the RW-12 or the Velodyne. I would have thought the Velodyne would be more precise in it's delivery of the bass due to it's feed back system? Or is the Velodynes feedback system been designed to achive the absolute maximum output without distortion, While sacrificing some quality or finesse?
  2. A little Problem, I can get a Klipsch Subwoofer (RW-12) Subwoofer or a Velodyne CHT-12R Subwoofer for only a little bit more, Now the Klipsch I know and trust, But I keep hearing and reading many good things about the Velodyne, Now accuracy and definition are important to me, Not just sheer Volume. So which would you prefer? (And an SVS is not an option, Because I'm in Australia and I'm not interested in Importing one)
  3. The Theatres where I am here in Australia are Crap! Crappy seats, Big pictures, But not bright enough I don't know if the projector is to small or they just keep the brightness down to save on replacements, Only one of the Theatres has DTS sound, Most are struggling even to get Dolby Digital! They are amazingly overpriced! One company runs all 3 cinemas in my town (18 screens in total) and they know they can charge whatever they want and give bad service, And you have no choice. I refuse to go to them, My GF was a cinema junkie, But since I took her to a cinema in the next city, She could see the difference and now also refuses to support the local cinemas Best part is she can now see the logic in a dedicated home theatre and we now have double the budget for the new Cinema in our new house when it gets built in the next couple of months
  4. It's a sad thing when a company has to launch into the budget range, But you have to pay the bills and keep the cash flowing and entry level product can do it, But when it is done right it can be quite fruitfull for the company In fact a lot of companys do it to attract people to the brand in the hope that when they trade up to something bigger when the $$ are available, Many companys do it and do it very well and ensure long term viability by gaining a loyal following of clientelle who will look upon the brand they already own when it comes time to upgrade, It is well know that well over 65% of people will stick with the same brand if they have been happy with the product and has worked the way they expected it to work. If the Synergy range is done well, developed right with decent sound with good reliability, Then it can't be a bad thing to ensure your own long term future and loyal customer for many years to come.
  5. I hate to ask, But have you checked your phasing? I see a lot of people hook up new systems and reverse the connections on one speaker or on the back of the amp, Causing phase problems. Just recheck your speaker connections to ensure all your connections are + to + and - to -, All you need is one connection to be wrong and all your bass is gone.
  6. Thanks for all of your suggestions and advice, 1 strange thing I have noticed on this Forum (And this is not a complaint or Gripe, Just an observation) I post a topic for consideration or advice and it seems to get very little or no responses for about a week and then it suddenly gets about 5 or 6 responses in a very short period of time, Like I said this is not a complaint or gripe, Just a funny thing I noticed Well it amused me anyway But I do have a bizarre sense of humor. Thanks for all the advice, It is much appreciated.
  7. What size of screen are you looking at running? Are you running DVI or Component? I had alook at one the other day running component and it was very impressive, In fact the dealer that had it on display suggested I not use it on DVI as he said I would have to spend a fortune to upgrade to a DVD player to support it, He suggested holding off until next year as DVI will be more readily supported.
  8. I'm looking at buying the 4805 Projector myself, I just saw one the other day and fell in love with the little thing (shame about the noisy fan though, But you can't have it all!) I have spent months trying to learn as much as poss about this projector. I would suggest trying the LCD setting, The LCD way of doing things is very similar to how DLP operates, Yes I know that LCD blocks light and DLP reflects light using the mirrors on the DLP chip, But DLP or LCD is a tottally different system when comparing to CRT tube projectors. Try both but I would suggest the LCD will be the best solution. I gave up on the AVS Forums, there so pedantic about extracting every little detail from there projectors it is almost insane! I understand wanting an awesome picture but spending countless hundreds of dollars on a cable to extract maybe a 1 or 2% difference just defy's logic, Why not put money into buying a better projector, but hey it keeps them happy and off the streets at night!
  9. Don't worry, Refrence series is already on the shopping list, Just the Synergy product line has only appeared on there website in the last few days, In fact some of the Synergy products are more exspensive! Go figure!?!? Thats what caused a little confusion on my part
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, But is Synergy below Refrence on the food chain? I was just comparing synergy/Refrence products on the Australian Klipsch Distributors website and there almost the same price as each other. Is Synergey the same as refrence, Just a different colour? Please advise.
  11. OK, I have 2 questions about placement of components in my system I would like to pose to all of you. 1. Is it a problem to put a Subwoofer (RW-12) in the back (Behind the listeners) of the room? If I switch the Phase and limit the upper Freq's to around the 80 Hz mark, This setup will be used purely for home theatre, with very little or no music. 2. RS25 Surrounds, Should these be at ear level (When seated) or above the listener, These will be placed behind the listener in my Theatre setup with RB25's as main fronts and front and rear centre channels (6.1) If you have any other suggestiosn for Placement please feel free to suggest them, Thankyou for your Assistance.
  12. ---------------- kinda wish I had test-driven the 15", as the room is large. I was thinking the same thing, If that happens, I'll just go and buy a second RW12!
  13. After all the disscussion on the subject of NON Klipsch Woofers, I thought I had better ask about the RW12, I'm considering buying one! I'm using this combined with RB-25 book shelf speakers in a dedicated Home theatre setup, I am not looking at playing Music (Or very very rarely) I was looking at buying an SVS, but with all the transport cost, Dutys, Taxes, It was just getting to exspensive (the joys of living on the other side of the Planet!) So what are your thoughts on this model, I can't afford to go up to the next model (RSW12) So, What do ya think? PS: To Evan (Moderator) I contacted the Aussie distributor of Klipsch (Internatioanl Dynamics) And they organised a dealer in my local area to help me out with advice, info and to order it in for me, Very helpfull.
  14. As a new member to this Forum, I would like to add this, I am a Senior Moderator on a Forum for a big American Car audio brand to which I am very loyal. And this is the fine line I must walk everyday and it's not easy, But I honestly let the guys have free reign (Within reason), Nearly every 6 months some brand becomes the talk of the Forum for a while and every one talks about that brand and buying that brand, I let it go. Because if I block the thread or delete it they will just go to another Forum and disscuss the issue futher and with that they may never return to that Forum or that brand. So my comment to the Klipsch Mods, Just chillout Guys, I think you would agree to have these members (New and old) here asking there questions and be directed towards your product 50%+ of the time is much better than them being on another forum and maybe get 1% of people suggesting your product or never at all. If you ban/Lockout/Remove/frown upon discussion of all other brands your in competition with, Then I hate to say it but it will be a pretty boring old Forum. Quite frankly I'm having serious doubts about Klipsch altogether, I have spoken to the local supplier here in Australia and they can give no local dealer, The local guy they suggested does not want to deal with it anymore, So I have to deal with a guy 2000Km's away, Not likely! So my dream of a full Klipsch system is slipping away at a great rate of Knots.
  15. No worry's John, Thank you (and of course everyone else) For your assistance. The RB25's Are going on the Shopping list, I thought the Thinking thing was going to be dangerous
  16. It doesn't surprise me one little bit, The car audio industry has suffered this little problem for years (As of course the home audio industry as well, But I think not as badly as the mobile industry) These companys crop up with something that looks the same and in some cases may even sound similar, They pay some Pleb to do a review and look favourably on a product and grab some quotes about how remarkable a product sounds or performs, And of course people get sucked in, And then there down hill slide begins........... No service or backup, No spareparts and then when they seek the company out that made it the company has folded and moved on and is now producing a copy of someone else. It might look like a Klipsch, It may sound like a Klipsch. But it aint no Klipsch!
  17. Good theory, But not an option I'm afraid, The nearest dealer is a large Electronics store and there Staff are happier to push a Kenwood or Sony Speaker rather than something of a little better Quality, So they carry very little in Stock, In fact ther staff have tried on every occasion I have contacted them to try and purchase something else (The Sony's are just as good! Not bloody likely!) and the nearest dealer after that is nearly 2000Km's away, So you can see my predicament! I heard some Klipsch speakers about 6 months ago and fell in love with what I heard, Well, For a set of Bookshelf speakers anyway (I think they were RB25's) And to be honest I haven't heard something with that sort of quality or definition in another brand for the price. And anything has to be better than my all Kenwood 21 series system surround sound system! So thats why I'm asking for a little guidance on this occasion, I will say I prefer the RB-25's option, But I just thought the Floorstand option would be better even though they would be 5" speakers (Has to be 5" to keep within my Budget) Ahh, It's all fun and games!
  18. I can't go an audition these speakers that is my problem, The dealer I am buying them from is 400Km's away, So I have to go off the advice of the members of this Forum, I must admit I prefer the way of going for the RB25's but, I suppose the question I should have asked is, would you go for the floorstanding RF15 in prefrence to the RB25? Once again thanks for your input.
  19. I was thinking on the weekend (I know a dangerous habit!) I was going to go for RB-25's all round in my system (3 pairs) but I would really love a set of floof standing speakers for my front mains. I was looking at the local importers website for Klipsch products and came up with this combo, Tell me what you think please. Front: RF-15 Floor standers Rear Surrounds: RB-15 Book shelf speakers Front and rear Centre channels: RB-15 Book Shelf Speakers And an SVS 20-39PCi Subwoofer Now I know the Book shelf Centres are a little unusual but the room I am using was going to be a little wider but due to some structual requirements it has meant my room is loosing some width (About 2 foot) so my room will now be 11.4 feet wide by 21 feet long with a standard ceiling height, I don't play my systems at ear bleeding levels, In fact I find most movie theatres are to loud so detail is my priority. This is purely for movies, No music or pay/cable TV but maybe the odd playstation 2 game might sneak in. So, What do you think? All suggestions welcomed. Thanks.
  20. ---------------- more speakers = more chicks coming over = more action ---------------- That would be nice, But I could see the Missus getting a bit put out by that!
  21. Well I went in to the local dealer and had a listen, they were OK, but not a set of Klipsch, I will say the Subwoofer was plenty loud but seemed to just make a one tone thump, My friend put his money on the table, I on the other hand....... Walked away, For the little bit extra it will cost me to purchase the Klipsch is well worth it, I may not be getting front floor standers but the sound quality trade off was not worth it. I knew there was a reason I didn't trust POLK.
  22. Well his use is like mine - Strictly home theatre use, A few dealers have said that thought the Klipsch speakers were a little quality overkill for just home theatre work, As we are both not interested in playing music through these systems, I have another system for that in the living area. I will admit he is trying to convince me to purchase a Polk system as well so we will get a better deal through the local dealer, He has offered us a good price on a full Polk system, consisting of R-50 fronts/CSi3 centres (F & R) and a pair of FXi-3 surrounds and a PSW-505 Subwoofer. But like I said I'm still not convinced by Polk, I don't know why as I have heard there car speakers and there were impressive (I use MB Quart in my car now and they are impressive) But I'm torn, I like the Klipsch, but the thought of a Floor stander fronts and a 12" sub for my system makes me think the Polk option may be better, And the reviews for POLK seem pretty good. Am I turning to the dark side of the force? Oh enlightened members of this Forum, Please guide me towards the path of sonic truth.
  23. Thankyou for the responses, I will pass them on. Please feel free to add more, Thanks.
  24. I know this is the Klipsch Forum, But I have to ask this on behalf a friend. Polk audio speakers here in Australia are a little cheaper than the Klipsch speakers and this will suit his lower budget for his setup, I've tried to convince him up to Klipsch, But his budget is at it's limits now. So what is everyone's thoughts on Polk Audio? I must admit I have listened to there car speakers (I work in the Car Audio industry) and I thought they were decent, But for some reason (and I don't know why) I could never bring myself to trust or like there product, Am I wrong? Is he spending his money wisely or is he better off saving for another 6 months and purchasing Klipsch? Thanks.
  25. I have to ask this, But does anyone know the returns/repair policy for product that is sent overseas? I live in Australia and I have sent a couple of Emails to the guys at SVS and I will also say they have been very helpfull and a pleisure to deal with (Quite a few Aussie companys could learn from this! Not replying to emails and requests for Information means I go and spend my money elewhere!) So what happens if something go's wrong with a 20-39PCi I'm looking at buying? I know it will be to exspensive to pack up and ship it back to the USA to get it fixed, so thats out of the question, So what happens there?
