  1. I believe this only affect old HDTVs that does not have 720P output (only 1080i and mostly Mitsubishi brands). But I agree it should be able to show the game to 1080i. 360 experience in live is awesome. I just hope SONY can mimick that or at least come close in the near future. For now, it's OK. I'll use the unit as BD player since some of my favorite PS games are still several months before release.
  2. I got my PS3 too recently from Amazon. It was delivered yesterday. I have been trying Costco Warehouses and Costco.com since launch but no dice. Today just for the heck of it I called warehouses near my place. One of them has one in stock. I immediately requested to put a hold on item as I was going to get it which I did. I'm going to return the Amazon purchase simply because I prefer the return policy of Costco. If anything goes wrong with the unit a year from now, I could always have it replaced. I can't do that with Amazon and can't wait to go home. []

    Gears of War

I got hooked on this game too. I dropped Call of Duty 3 and has been playing this game since the first time I got it. SP and COOP was really kewl. MP is great too but be ready for some shocker because some players are just wild (lots of tea bagging and some other insane stuff). <-- really funny imo!
  4. hehehe....I asked for the same wish too as for my first wish. An RF83 system for my second and RF63 for my third. Ohh well, maybe next year.

    CARS

My kid who is 8 yrs old likes it a lot. We actually watched it 3 times already!!!! The funny things is, I enjoyed it every time. []
  9. This particular product I believe is available only online. I have not seen Lowes or Home Depot carry the item. Maybe another brand?
  10. I'm not sure I understand what this means. I thought all houses were brand new when first built. Do you mean it shouldn't be used on old pipes? My house is not brand new when I bought it. It was built in the 70s. In anyway, you're right, I was referring more to houses built today using PVC pipes instead of those metal pipes so I might have been a little vague there. But with the hight intelligence of the people who visits the forum, I know they can put 2 on 2 together. []

  12. Well the product does break down the oil. However, i don't have my drain lying idle for 4 days. Also, I only used 2 teaspoons instead of a cup. So it does seem to work but what you need is time for the enzymes to do their job. I usually pour the product midnight so it has at least 6 hours to do their "maintenance thinggy" on my drainage. I bet this would work wonders if you have a septic tank (mine goes directly to the city drain). HTH
  13. After 8 hours (See white stuff breaking down the oil)
  14. I have always had problems in my drainage system. I call a drain buster every year ever since we bought the house 2001!!! The problem is always accumulation of cooking oil that formed a hardened thick white substance around the main pipes. We don't throw away old cooking oil in our drainage because of this but it seems that my neighbor (who rents) does but that's another whole story. Anyway, I used to pour those commercially available drain de-cloggers but I stopped since someone told me that they are not good for maintenance of drain pipes especially if the house was not built brand new. He told me to use those natural drain cleaners, the enzyme type. So I got this type of a cleaner and have been using it for 4 months as a maintenance as per instructions at the back. Anyway, I wanted to test if this was working at all so I did my experiment just to find out. I started out using 2 teaspons of the enzyme product, mized with a little warm water and pourde it on a container filled with old cooking oil.
  15. Soooo close!!!!! Costco sold PS3 online only today (no warehouse sales) starting 10:45 EST. On checkout, server crwaled to a halt. *sigh*
  16. Getting good reviews so far in Amazon. Interesting because it looks like it upconverts regular DVDs too.
  17. True. I'll hold off getting one for now. I'd get feedback first from early users and decide after (if I don't get hold of a PS3).
  18. I'm not sure about the price point thing because "technically", they cost the same XBOX Premium (399)+ HD DVD (200) = $599 (same sa the PS3 60GB version) I don't think IMO, that the 360 lead is not insurmountable. Besides the US/Canada and EUROPE, the 360 didn't sell well as expected in Japan. As a matter of fact, it was considered to be a failure. As with the Xbox (Halo), people would buy PS3 because of game exclusivity (ex. MGS, Tekken, Devil May Cry). I for one would buy the unit even if it didn't have Bluray playback because of the games (and that is why I have xbox360 [] minus the HD DVD). The HD part is only a bonus. The only thing that would hurt Sony is if the unit does not deliver what it promised (next Gen games + visually stunning blu-ray DVD playback). And if they can't manufacture enough for consumer consumption.
  19. As far as I know from what I have been reading, you won't be able to hook it up to an HTPC, only to the XBOX 360. BTW, the fall updates would soon be coming in for the XBOX that would include support for the new peripherals (HD DVD, etc). Now, you would be able to watch videos and would also support games up to 1080P thru component or VGA. I'm really torn between this HD-DVD and PS3. I really don't know if it's worth my while to have both but If I can't get my hands on the PS3 on launch, I'll get the HD DVD unit. Also, Amazon is now accepting pre-orders for the HD DVD unit.
  20. Here's a good link about extended warranties and stuff. I for one seldom gets 'em (except for my DLP TV when I got it). When ever you buy some electronic stuff or what have you, geezeeee, those sales personnel give you a bleak outlook on what you are purchasing making it look necessary that you really need EWs.
  21. Used to have residential Verizon DSL last year. No complaints about it until I got my Xbox360. I started playing on line and my connection was a bit laggy on some games (especially Call of Duty 2). Dropped DSL and switched to cable (Cablevision) and never looked back. WOW....what a difference!!!! Basic speed is 15 MB Download / 2 MB Upload. On a side note DSL was cheaper by $20 but at sppeds of 1.5 MB Download / ?? Upload.
  22. Pricing set at $200. So if you got an XBOX360 premium that cost $399, you add the HD-DVD drive for $200 you end up paying the same as the PS3 $599 model (60GB Hard Drive).
