  1. well i finally got around to taking some pictures of my recent heresy purchase.i have a question concerning the stands.does anyone know if these were a aftermarket stand designed for the heresy or if they were made by klipsch.i bought the speakers and they came with these stands.i also received the original bill of sale which lists them as ss-5 if that helps.heres a picture of the speakers plus stand.any help wpould be appreciated.
  2. nice work as always craig.just one question that hasnt been adressed yet.what does it weigh? with all those trans and chokes im guessing around 50+ lbs. chris
  3. bob your right.i have a pr of oriniginal eliminator1 and those piezos on top dont belong.the originals used (2) t35, a 8hd horn with a t25a driver and a 15w driver.the midrange on the above pictured is definately not mounted correctly. theres a bracket that goes through the driver (t25) and mounts to the inside of the cabinet.un fortunately i lost the pics of mine or id show you what theyre suppose to look like . fwiw the speakers could be bought as kits and the plans occasionaly show up on ebay.also they only go down to 45 hertz ao they dont go as low as one would suspect. chris
  4. thanks www.records for the posting the link.
  5. oh ok thanks architel.i've been busy today and havnt had a chance to read it yet. chris

  7. just thought of something i want to ad to this post which seems interesting to me. didnt pwk use a brook amplfier with 2a3's?if so i would be interesting to note that fairchild commisioned brook to build a 2a3 amp for him modeled after the 10c.perhaps this was after listening to pwk's speakers.just a thought.anyone have any ideas on this? chris
  8. that amp would of been the 255a and rated at 30w.the 255 which preceeded it was rated at 25w and used 6l6 output tubes.i have yet to come across a pr of 255's although they seem to pop upon ebay more than the 260's or 275's.i did have a single 275 which i regret selling now but at the time i needed some money for a mx110 to go with my mc30's.the 260 which also used 6l6gc's for output tubes was later on modded to use el34s and branded the 260r(revised) this was a factory mod that i never heard about until i saw it posted on a recent ebay auction.i may try this mod one day as i have a pr of nice gec kt77's that iv'e been waiting to use but i've only got the one pair and to find another set is going to be costly.until then i guess i stick to the sweltana winged emblems that im using now. thanks again for the comments.regards, chris
  9. thanks larry ,im glad you enjoyed it.fwiw heres a pic of mine with one of my fairchild 260's.i really like this setup and find even after having it out of the system and swapping different gear i always come back to it .
  10. hi all, with the mention of the fairchild townhouse in a recent thread i thought id post a review of the 245/248 stereo tube preamp .
  11. hi gill, thank you so much for posting this.i'm always on the hunt for any information on fairchild i can get.the net even though as big as it is sure doesnt have much information on the company or its gear. larry, you are correct that the fairchild amps and preamps are rare.i've had my 260's for about 3 yrs now and recently aqquired the stereo preamp to go with them.i've been using them off and on with a pair of heresys and must say that i like the combination alot.i would like to one day try them with some k'horns but those never show up in my neck of the woods.i do however have a set of altec 19's coming my way shortly and will be very excited to try them out with the fairchild amps. fwiw heres a review on the fairchild 260 that was posted soemtime back by craig .http://http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/503845.aspx the rest of the review is on the second page. i will also post a review on the fairchild 245/248 stereo preamp shortly for those that are interested. architel, do you still have a copy of that article that you posted the pic from on 2-19-04?if so i would appreciate a scan of it if thats possible. chris
  12. the larger output transformer (16451) was considered to be the better of the 2 output transformers.heaathkit had alot of problems with the smaller (16309)which is why they changed to the larger peerless.
  13. thats about the going rate for that tuner so turning a profit is highly unlikely.fwiw i saw that ad and thought the price was $45.
