I cant wipe the grin off my face after getting the Pro Media Ultra 5.1 PC speakers for my new computer. Add that with my Reference theater speakers and I am for sure to be deaf when I get older. I never dreamed a computer could sound so good.

VIDEOHELP.COM Alot of the high dollar players cannot even play a DIVX or VCD burned cd or dvd. Not to mention MP3's on DVD media. My $69 Philips works great and plays everything I throw at it. A dvd player is not just for DVD movies in my home. Its something that can play the myriad of things I can burn on my PC too!

Let Room size and your budget determine 5.1 6.1 or 7.1. In my case 5.1 worked fine for my room size. If I had put additional rear speakers they would be damn near sitting next to each other. Not really a large sound field when all speakers sit together. I could have went 6.1 or 7.1 with budget. However, the room was just not large enough to support 4 rear speakers. Layout your room with your budget, then decide if you want to invest in the extra speakers. Its not a huge difference over 5.1 but it does sound alittle better if the room is setup right.

HK is one of the few manufactures who rate their amp sections to what they put out. Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, Insert name always boost their power output because people like yourself will look at it and say, Hey this says 120watts and this one only says 65watts. Its a marketing tactic and false information. I read a good article about this awhile back and it was very interesting. Some of these manufactures rate the equipment to a burst of power. So if it can hit 120watts for a split second they can say 120watts. Its all BS. Make sure you research the equipment you are getting. HK amps are pretty true to specs they list. Unlike all the others who lie. I wish I had that article.. I remember it saying some Denon reciever that was rated at 110 or 120 watts cant remember only did 45 watts of real power full range while driving all channels. Just be cautious of power specs.

The heat and stuff for the tv and other speakers are fine. The port on those fronts is in the front of the speaker so it works nice enclosed.

Check videohelp.com under dvd players. Gives reviews and tells you all formats they play. If you want dvd mp3 disc, divx, vcd or other formats you can burn yourself, you can find it there. I have a $68 walmart Philipps 642 player that does everything. It plays every format I want. Unlike most of these high dollar players, this $68 player does damn near everything you will burn. I can put 4gigs of MP3's on a DVD RW disc. I use one disc to put all my new music on. So far I only used about 1.5 gigs of it. When I get new music I just rewrite the disc with the new stuff. Just pop it in your player and you have hrs upon hrs of music on one disc. If your not into SACD check out some other players. Dont spend your money on a brand name if its not going to do what you need.

I have the RF35's and have the Marantz mm9000 amp $500 ebay with the B&K Reference 50S2 $1700. Just to give you an idea of cost.

I would check out the Marantz SR5500,7500, & 8500. Nice receivers. If you go seperates your budget will be increasing alot. You could use a receiver as your processor but if your going that route you may as well just use the receiver and save the money. You will need to purchase more cables so dont forget about that when you add seperates. Most of the processors for seperates are high priced. Amps are not cheap either. You can find a good used one on ebay or audiogon. Depending on your budget its up to you. To go the seperate route you will spend alot more. I dont think you will be missing anything by just going the receiver route with your system. I found a Marantz mm9000 amp to run my RF35's. Its a nice find on ebay for $500.

Just a thought on HT seats. I was thinking of getting these but then realized I could not lay down when I watch a movie. You have to sit up or sit and recline. I dont know about you all but I find it very nice to stretch out on my couch and watch a movie. The HT seating idea is great but really not practical to me. Forcing myself to sit upright is not my idea of comfort when I relax in my home. Just my opinion.

I purchased my Marantz MM9000 5 channel 150rms amp on ebay for $500. You may want to take a look at ebay and see what deals you can find. Its a THX Ultra rated amp. Works very good and I cant complain.

Go buy the Philipps 642 Player from walmart for $68. It will play everything your sony wont. I have a sony and it plays nothing but dvd movies. Nothing extra like dvd mp3's, divx, svcd, or other good things that you can burn.

Thats the same TV I have. BTW what is super bit dvd? The picture looks much better on that set. I notice a big difference from the 5663 model.

I did the test tones with mine just like that. I believe the SPL meter was dialed to 80. I started them all at 0db and had to adjust each to get the same readings on the meter. Not all my speakers are set the same. They were adjusted so they have the same reading in on the meter. Then I bumped my sub up some like the SVS manual instructed.

Get a radio shack spl meter and set it up yourself. Make your sub about 3-5db above your other speakers. You can do this with the gain or the setup in the receiver. If you want more bass crank up the gain or the db in the receiver.

Well its hard to compare because I have a 1998 pre amp running the paradigms and a 2004 running the klipsch. Naturally the new pre amp is going to sound better. I would say the studio 100's > RF35's, the RC7 and RS7's > LCR 450's. and the PB12plus/2 > Servo 15. They both sound good. The AV550 Marantz Pre amp is becoming dated though. I can live with it for awhile though.

LOL yeah the remote table. The marantz remote can control everything if I would take the time to program it. I have tons of remotes everywhere. The best thing about the basement system is the Universal remote that comes with the Ref 50. It controls everything. I love how you can download the codes from the web and load them onto the remote. The Ref 50 is a great pre amp. The basement was unfinished after we built the house. I planned on getting it done back in 1999. We started it up and then stopped because of the cost. We matched all the woodwork as the upstairs. My bar in the basement is done with the same wood and stain as my kitchen. A majority of the work was done by my brother and other firefighters. I am a firefighter and you can find lots of people that do great work on the department. I just cant wait until we get the basment decorated and totally finished. Right now I am leaning to a pool table. Guess I will take my wife to a local pool hall and see if she likes to shoot pool. If she does we will get a table for the basement. The klipsch speakers are very sweet. Those RF35's really sound good. I was considering upgrading to the RF7's but after hearing the Rf35's I dont know if the extra cost is really worth it. I know they sound even better but its going to cost alot more.

Thanks.. Yeah I saw that thread after someone bumped it. The RC7 wouldnt fit in the shelf below the tv its too small. It has a bar that would block it. The paradigm system is the one I purchased when the house was built in 1998. I finally got the basement done and wanted another system with HDTV. So I went with the Klipsch speakers on that one. I also have another HT in my bedroom that has a 27inch Sony XBR and Marantz receiver. Its a nice little system and the crazy thing is I watch alot of tv there. Mostly when I go to bed or lay down and take a nap after work. Does anyone know how to post pictures so they display in your message and not the 1 download per reply thing?
