I did not want to see them get damaged.
  2. Thanks for the heads up I am interested. Just need to work out the shipping logistics. Anybody in the KC area out there? Thanks, Rich
  3. Too funny Scott, LOL. Just what this thread needed a good laugh. Could you imagine the real buyer showing up after phony guy shows up and says "Hey, I'm here to pick up the speakers...here is the cash"
  4. Thanks fini, and thank you for changing that avatar! Now just what is your current one? A huge python fan I am, but your last one just creped me out. I am thinking of giving my homer one a makeover. Any suggestions?
  5. As I remember itand I could be wrong That belle idiot was not a forum member until he scored the 300 dollar belles from an old lady then came here to gloat about the good deal he got and offer them up on ebay for not-much-of-a-deal-reserve-price. We all taunted him and he had his girlfriend stick up for him and tell us all what a good guy he was. Amusing for a few days it was. But hey, there is no law against buying low and selling high last I checked. Be honest with yourself, wouldnt most of you happily given the lady 300 bucks and not a penny more then keep them for the sonic bliss they would provide? I doubt many would have said Oh, no madam please let me give you 1000 dollars not 300 Everybody likes a deal. Are you going to give a thrift store more then asking price for killer vintage LP? What about garage sales and classified ads? The way I see it our dbLvr is getting the short end of the stick here. If you live in NYC or where ever and think those conrs/heresy were such a great deal pull the trigger on BIN and drive you car 3000 miles to get themsight unseenhow good do they look now? Or pass on the info to other forum members and be happy for their good fortune. Similar to what Thump has been doing with classified ads. Once the cash is laid down the buyer is free to do with them as he pleases. No obligation to drive his A$$ around the state then pack them up and send them to another forum member for no profit. Some people do help others make purchasesbut that is not a requirement of the forum is it? You could argue that Heresies are worth about 400 bucks. So he got a free pair of corns in the deal. What is that worth 500 to 1000 dollars maybe depending on condition? Good for him. Now subtract his time, gas and risk. Are any of your lives going to be changed by a few hundred dollars? Sure it would be nice if he is not going to keep them to offer them up here first at a decent deal, but I would not expect him to give up much too much by taking minimal profit here versus maximum on ebay. Everybody has their idea of what the forum is about. Some good some bad. Help the good people, ignore the bad, but dont let them get under your skin. The guy got a good dealbe happy for him. I am. I am also happy for Sputnik who got a great corn deal it sounds. GaryMD got a fantastic deal on khornshe deserves it! It will come your way some day.
  6. If light is not an issue I would strongly suggest a screen/projector over plasma. Larger picture and it feels like a theater. Will a fixed screen work? Advantages are very flat, defined border for killing stray, slightly overlapping image, and depending on your point of view it looks pretty cool. I have not done it but would think that you could treat the entire wall then put the fixed screen over the top. Others will probably jump in here and give you more info then I can if that is practical or negates the treatment. My screen bottom is just about at the top of my khorns and my center channel (chorus I) fits under the screen and is about a foot in front of the wall so the khorn corner/wall sound is not blocked. Cool thing about the C1 is no passive in the back. Sounds like you are well on your way with the speakers and equipment. If you consider a fixed screen I cant stress enough how happy I am with my 2:35 to 1 AR screen. I originally thought I should get the AR of my projector but not so. With so many DVDs at 1:85 or 2:35 it really is nice getting a full picture top to bottom no matter what the image is. Check out my earlier thread on this http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=59705 Good luck and keep the questions coming, Rich
  7. Seemed like a great topic but the bickering has been a downer. At any rate I was happy to see the lists as I am getting back into vinyl and trying to broaden my musical horizons as well. Just so happens that I picked up the following: John Coltrane Blue Train Miles Davis Kind of Blue Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers Moanin' Horace Silver 6 Pieces of Silver which seem to show up on some of the lists. Wish I had ordered after the topic came up as I might have gotten more. I got the 200g versions and they are really nice. Have only had time to listen to JCs Blue Train and really like it, hope the rest are that good. Blue Train would surely be on my list for newbies, like myself, to give a try. I also really like Horace Silvers Songs for my Father GaryMD gave me the LP and I have been listening steadily for a month or so. Side note: On these older disc when they are offered up in stereo and mono are you better off with the mono? Blue Train was the only one I got in Stereo, but it is sort of odd. Horns and piano out of the left speaker and guitar drums in the right. I think all from both and no stereo might actually sound nicer.
  8. There are decent pull down screens (da-lite) comes to mind and numerous built in automated screens that will drop down and retract. Da-Lite also has a cool portable job that sets on the ground and pulls up and stays in place. The fan sounds like a good idea since power is there, but you have to consider the location of the projector to the screen. Obviously, too close and the picture is small too far and the picture might spill over the screen. Look at the projectors lens throw this will give you max and min distance for a given size screen. Not sure of you particular application but they make perforated screens as well. These allow the sound from speakers to go through the screen but still display a projected image. Maybe you can get a screen to drop down from the ceiling and in essence make a wall of screen to cover khorns and other stuff in the room then disappear when not in use. In my opinion a screen/projector is the way to go to get that movie theater feel. However, you need control of the light in the room. If there are lots of windows that cannot be darkened then plasma might fit the bill. Tell us more about your room and desires. Are you planning 5.1 in addition to the 2 channel? I use khorns for 2 channel and as my main L/R in home theater. However I have just about the opposite room. It was built more as a theater with 2 channel use.
  9. Right about the bids...I forgot to mention that in my original posts. I figure with no bids he is high (price and on some herb) So who out there is gooing to pony up the $$ and buy me that Some Girls album? pretty please
  10. I know the idea behind a half speed master (I even have a few) and I have heard that in general MFSLs are typically the best. But can they really be this good? Check out the prices on this guys auctions. I know there are only so many copies and every year some get broken, scratched, burned in a house fire or in some other way lost. Supply and demand I guess. MFSL vinyl I found this in searching for Some Girls MFSL. Anyone out there have one they dont use and want to sell me? Come on guyI am a true fan. Looking to use and enjoy it not put it in bank vault.
  11. I bet you no one has even bothered to try a different channel on the thing. That would probably solve all the problems. That, and make sure no equipment around it is causing interference. ---------------- Actually we have tried all the channels with the same results. I am less then impressed. However, I don't think anyone has looked for updated drivers...not even sure if there are any.
  12. Urge Overkill Sister Havanaif the opening 30 seconds does not get a smile they are def. If you have not heard this song seek it out and find it or drop me a line and I will send you an mp3/wmf of it. It is a rocking good ear ripper. U2 Bullet the Blue SkyReally shows off the drum capabilities of Klipsch speakers Rush Tom SawyerEverybody knows it and it sounds new and fresh to non-Klipsch types. Led Zeppelin When the Levee Breakscant beat the whaling harmonica and painfully pretty vocals. Rolling Stones Beast of BurdonDecent bass lines, nice vocals and some classic guitar by Keith. BTW just getting back into vinyl and this is one of the better sounding stones albums. Any other suggestions for well recorded/produced RS vinyl?
  13. JoeS, Thanks for the offer. I quit checking the forum on Friday before you posted this. I had already sent in an online order for some LPs and picked up some sleeves there. Anyway - Thanks again for the thoughtfull offer, Rich
  14. You must have been bad in another life and have now paid the price. Seriously, nice of you to help out the neighbor. Give him a month or so then offer up the Corns.
  15. GMD, only 100 at a time...you must buy them by the 1000s
  16. Need or should I say want to get plastic outside protective sleeves for the jackets as well as niceer/safer inner sleves. What do you in the know suggest? Any particular online places you like?
  17. Gone but still my favRide. Dead Z3 It used to look a LOT nicer
  18. Dooooh, RickB you da man! I was in fact turning just the numbered wheel in the 2nd step and not the counter weight. The way the instructions read if you have to hold the counterweight to zero it I would think turning the wheel with out holding the counterweight would have some effect. Rookie mistake...thanks a ton. Separate level check will help too I am sure.
  19. Thanks Gary...you would think as a computer programmer I would know how to type. Back in the days of typewriters and typing class I skipped the days with numbers. Too much bother.
  20. Looks like a nice find the auction lasted less then 2 hours.
  21. Thanks for the info so far. I see we are up to 229 and 222. Any others? At this site Scott Site I found out a little about the power of the 229 and 222. I have also found a couple for auction. Some working some not. Some with case some with out. If I want it to look "nice" do I need to find a complete one or can you get the knobs and cases if you are willing to look/wait? I got a message out to Craig...but he is rather busy. How complete does one need to be? Since Craig replaces the caps and rebuilds the power supply I would think it would not have to work, but more or less be intact.
  22. I must have done something good in another life...surely not this one. Just talked to the seller of my MMF-5. He was so upset about leaving out the power cord that he ran home, got it back to work, called FedEx and even though they have picked up for the day they are coming back...he is shipping NDA. So, I should have power by tomorrow afternoon! I am starting to think most audio people are decent human beings. How do we get the rest of the general population to convert? Now for that drifting arm... I'll get a real level out and start there. Thanks guys!!!

  24. Thanks for all the quick replies. The TT has a built in level the round type where you get the bubble in the center (spirit level???) anyway, that is in fact in the middle. I did not take a conventional level and put it front to back and side to side. I figured the round one would work fine. Should I try to level it a different way. Gary, the power cord says 16volts 50 or 500 something. I am not in front of it now. It is not the standard type for computer or the standard two hole job you see on a lot of A/V equipment. This is more the type with small round fitting. I am guessing there is some sort of brick in the cord itself or a big block where it plugs in because the part that attaches to the TT itself is so small. Bummed me out to say the least that I don't have it. It is going to be a quiet weekend
