  1. THB go read this http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=52217 It will restore your faith in humanity...not like this clown. Sputnik, still laughing at your remark. Looking at his ebay feedback I think he does more buying then selling - he is quite the business man with that plan. Maybe he plans on using that Glock t-shirt, laser site and grip extension to "buy" some more items to sell later. He has a kid to put through college I read somewhere. Hope they have an ethics class at that school.
  2. Too funny. I read the ThumpStil post a while back and thought no way, too good to be true. Never gave it a second thought. Since then, been checking out ebay for Belles for a while. Saw the 2K in WO and thought hey, my sister lives in Miami and is coming up to visit me in July. Maybe...just maybe I could make this work. I emailed my sis today and am waiting to hear back when I see all the posts to this. I decide to read them just to kill some time. At this point I still don't realize this thread is about the same ones for sale on ebay...because I have not read it since there was just a couple of posts. I wish I would have called and sent cash the second I read it. But probably would not have done any good as being there is not substitute. As much as we would all like to score a good deal it does make me sad to see him just flip them. There are guys asking questions to the seller on ebay. Somebody should take the time to send them (the potential buyers) messages pointing them to this thread. Maybe they would shy away or not bid as highbut I doubt it. Supply and demand you know. If I was his next door neighbor and did not know about thisI would give him 1500 in a second. Other side of the coin is that this guy can buy/sell what ever he likes. $hitty, yes...but not doing anything wrong. Just dont come around here looking for 2 channel or HT advice if you need it right guys/gals? Maybe a more devious plan is the get some fake ebay accountsbid them up and then not follow through. Do this every time he lists them. Too much effort for me, but somebody should take up the cause. Hey THB, If I can get my sis to drive them up in her mini-van with 3 screaming kids you want to split them? Seriously, I dont think I could buy from this guythe right ones will come along some day. Right GaryMD ;-)
  3. I bought OO KG4s new and OO Forte IIs new. I will look for my receipts and get back to you...but from memory the KG4s were about 800 and the Forte IIS were about 1400.
  4. North, I totally dig that table. Did the guy have any more or is that a sort of one off creation? Guess I'll have to give ebay a look. Thanks for the pix.
  5. Nice table. Got a shot from the top? Not my HT but I have seen one where a guy bought several 12-18 inch dolls, figurines, whatever you call them of 1950s movie monsters. Creature from the Black Lagoon is way cool. Frankenstein, Mummy, Dracula all in his HT. He has them mounted on tasteful shelves at different heights around the room along with some movie posters. He also has 3 of the Young Frankenstein people on one shelf. They look great. The boxes are as cool as the item itself. Just did a search. Looks like they are called sideshow collectables. Here is a bride of FS. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=348&item=5970201649&rd=1
  6. My parents live in the Detroit area of Mi. I travel back to visit from time to time. I would love to have a belle as a center between my khorns. I would be an hour or so from Flint if I were to visit my parents. Is there anyone along the way between Baltimore and Detroit that might want to split the pair with me? I only want a WO belle, DKP, do you know the finish? Anyway, the price is a bit high, but not out of the realm of possibility. I dont have any travel plans back to Detroit just yetbut could be convinced to do a long weekend. I typically travel PA and OH turnpike passing through P-burg and Cleveland when I do make the trip. A lot of things would have to fall into place to make this work, any interest out there? BTW, anyone know the price of a single belle, new today?
  7. Thanks John, nice meeting you. Thanks for taking the time do drive and meet me. speakers are in great shape. For the time being my speaker quest is complete. All WO in the HT. I just need a WO belle to put between my khorns. Anyone? Anyone!!?? Getting along fine with the chorus as a center for now. Thanks again John.
  8. Somebody should grab those then swing down the TX and get the WO Khorns listed today. They are in fantastic shape as well. Oh when you get back from the road trip with a pair of Belles and a pair of Khorns, be sure and drop one of the Belles at my house for a center channel. I'll split the gas wit ya.
  9. Frzn, Thanks for the info. I do realize those are stock AAs. I think the other were guessing at what they were based on the message traffic. That is why I included the url. I also was pretty sure BEC was not selling them. My only motivation to buy them would be: 1. They might be better then my AK-2s as is (not likely) 2. They could be reworked by BEC/Dean/others to be As which I hear many people like over the AAs and some other version of Klipsch crossovers. This assumes As are an OK swap for my drivers, thus my earlier post about swapping completely different lines of crossovers. I am "crossover-ly challenged" I don't know what they do, but if it can make my speakers sound better I am all for a change. Hard to define "better" I know. 3. They could get me by so I don't go speaker-less for several weeks while I employ Dean/BEC/others to alter my AK-2s into someting else. If I go that route. Bottom line they would need to be cheap for me to want to take the effort to swap them out for a test listen. Looks like my AK-2s are all hard wired. Not an easy swap like my 85 Heresies with E2s - that looks pretty simple. I would guess now that so many people know about them they won't go cheap anyway. Surely they have a lot of value to a person that already has AAs and wants to have work done, but not go without speakers. So who can tell me if AK-2s to AAs is a ridiculous waste of time/money or if it is actually not advised due to some reason I dont know about (i.e. damage)? Also do AA parts alone make an upgrade from AK-2 to AK-3 financially viable? Do AA parts do anything for me or should I just get Dean to make me something from scratch. Should I just leave well enough alone for a while and enjoy my music
  10. Being a xover know-nothing. I am looking for a little education. Do certain crossovers only work well with certain drivers? That is will a set of AA xovs on ebay work, (good or bad, mind you...but work) in my 87 khorns that currently have AK2s, or am I asking for problems? I was guessing (perhaps wrong) that when drivers changed a little they changed the crossovers a little, thus the A, AA, AK, AK-2, AK-3, etc. I understand that rebuilding a 20 year old xover with new "fresh" parts and getting it back to original specs is probably going to yield some sonic improvement. However, will changing from and AK-2 to AA be out and out wrong/harmful or simply something I may like better or may not like better? I have heard many (not all) like As over AAs. I have heard more bad then good about AK1s. AK2/AK3s get mixed likes and dislikes with several suggestions to make the AK-2 into an AK-3. I gather the AK-4 is a great crossover but needs different drivers as a total package. Am I right or wrong with these generalizations or some of both? Thanks, Rich BTW this is the AAs I was looking at and good guess the original poster was too. Don't Think they are Bob's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5768634607
  11. Frzn, I think he is looking at the AA networks on ebay. I saw them and was thinking of bidding to send of to Dean, BEC or the like. If I remember correctly somebody will make the AA into a version that can be switched between A and AA. My understanding that AA was a version implemented as solid state stuff broke onto the scene with high power. The AA I believe is a safer version of the A...but I could be wrong. Someone chime in here if I am way off. Anyway I have AK-2s and thought for the right price having an AA or A to play with might be worth a listen to. Can anyone tell me I off base here or not? If A/AAs are not at all intended for khorns equiped with drivers requiring AK-2s I would like to know.
  12. Basements are typically dark. Any reason not to consider a projector and fixed screen set up. Seems a lot more theater-like in my mind.
  13. I am guessing you want all three If not I need a WO Belle for a center between my khorns. I'll give it a nice home...pretty please.
  14. KG4s were my first Klipsch speakers. Wish I still had them. They rock! 200-300 and you can't go wrong. 400 if in great shape. Good Luck.
  15. Glad it was everything you hoped it would be. Even better that the wife was happy. Take care of my babies and thanks again for everything. I had a good time even though it was short. Next time your place or mine...make it yours I want to see Jaws. Best of luck on the HT. Rich
  16. Just got back from parting with my Academy and OO Heresy IIs. They could not have gone to a nicer guy. Bill Higgins is top notch. Super nice a friendly. Kept me updated on his progress as he drove down. Thanks for making the bigger part of the drive, Bill. Payment on the spot. If you have any opportunity to buy/sell from bill, do not hesitate. Thanks a ton!
  17. Bad news tri, you are going to have to move those flowers...sorry.
  18. Hey now, Ben...don't be giving MY secrets away. This was a hypothetical exercise left for the reader to elicit some more fun reading for myself as they all rant back and forth. I know how I am spending my money and where I MIGHT just be able to score some killer vinyl deals.because I live in MD. Who else knows? Ill have to get my hit squad mobilized.
  19. Scott, that bevis avitar cracks me up every time I see it! The annimation is what makes it.
  20. Let me throw another wrench in the works. If you had only 1000 dollars to spend, no current vinyl collection and not much more DI on the near horizon. Do you: -Dump most of the $$ in the table and have one thrift store LP to listen to -Some balance like 500 each - If so what balance -Buy a $200 TT and a hand full of nicely press vinyl -Same $200 TT and lots of mid quality vinyl -Some other option All opinions and reasons welcomed
  21. My personal experiance. I have had shipped to me: 3 Academies...one damaged 2 Heresies...no damage That is 5 seperate speakers about the same size weight and one damaged. I don't think you can say they WILL be damaged. You have to assess the risk you are willing to take. I worked for UPS for 8 years. Packages get damaged daily...but a very, very small percentage. That said if it is yours that gets beat up it stings.
  22. Based on my experience I think they sell what UPS pays claims on. Surely if a claim has been paid it is because it was abused so baldy that the receiver did not want it. Most people probably think they are getting a deal when in fact they are getting broken stuff. This one comment sums it up nicely: Mislead! Broken Product! Packed in Garbage. What I get for thinking I got a deal Not that I am sticking up for the company or anything...but there are a lot of stupid people out there. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
  23. I have not priced new ones in a while, but that sounds like a fair price. I think there is a some value in knowing they brand new and that you are the first person to listen to them. Not to mention that every scratch you put on them will be yours and yours alone. That carries a lot of value in my mind. If you could see the ebay ones in person and pick them up that is a different story. Then again for 800 you can probably score a really nice pair of used Chorus if you are not married to heresy for some reason like mating with other speakers or size issues.
