  1. Yes, the Genespage. Been there a few times. Now if just MSU could get a decent football team. I may have to make a trip to Ideal Acoustics and an MSU football game in one visit!
  2. I'm not !&*$#@ you. Man. I'm a big MSU fan. I live in Georgia now. A buddy of mine in my frat did the deal with Ideal Acoustice where you could bring in your Klipsch w/in one year of purchase and get a full refund credit on a more expensive pair. He finally got a pair of La Scalas. I don't remember anyone in the store. I had no monwy back then and I'm sure they could tell. This didn't keep me from going in though. My CW1's are cool. They need some moddin'. My scalas with the ALK's sound way better than these right now. I bet if I dampen the horns and fix the crossovers, it would be a tough match. jc
  3. Man, this is the weirdest post I have ever read. I'm from Starkville MS and the first Klipsch I ever heard was at Ideal Acoustics. Are they still open? My freind and I used to go there when I was a kid. I also went to Mississippi State University...So did my sister and Parents. I used to Hate playing Tupelo in Football. They were probably our worst rival. Did you ever buy from Ideal Acoustics? jc
  4. Oh my. This is getting more weird. My parents live in Cumming right now. Is this a setup? Mineral Bluff Georgia is north of Elijay and Blue Ridge. Almost to the Tennessee border. Are you in Georgia? jc
  5. Man how freaky. I just got back from a road trip to pick up some Corns from Mineral Bluff Georgia. This was an elderlay man in the mountains who bought them 20 years ago. He used to be a inventer of puzzles for children. it was worth the trip just to meet this guy. The Corns are cool. Bigger than I had imagined. They definately need some dampening and crossover work jc
  6. Yes, The 2102 is a thing of beauty. I bet when you're sitting there and listening, you probably can't take your eyes off of it. Those tubes lined up behind that glass will create a stoic glare. I'm curious of the improvements of that amp compared to the MC272.
  7. It's nice to hear a good feedback on the newest tube amp from MAC. I had debated buying it. I ended up getting the MC252 instead. I was concerned with the fact of not having a MAC tube preamp. I have the MC252 and MX119 combo instead. I must say I'm quite pleased. There were reports that the SS new MACS outperformed the Tubes. I have not compared them personally. I'm sure there are pros and cons of both. Your description of the midrange may be the pros. Although I must say, Diane Krall on my ALKed Scalas has unbelievable midrange finesse. Ive given consideration of combining the MC2102 and MC252 for a 2 channel bi amp situation. 2101 on the mid/high and the 252 on the woof. This would be outrageous. I'm glad to hear of your experience. Tell me more. What speakers is the MAC running? I hope this picture isn't too big and annoying. I wanted to make sure you could read the text. jc
  8. I have been watchinh Ebay for awhile to gather the heritage collection. The popularity is growing. Check out these closings today. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5751516254&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5751513044&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5751512524&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT Can't believe that first one. 1225.00$ for one La Scala
  9. Hey Colt, For some reason, I can't get that link to load. I agree with the l bracket idea btwn the mid and woof. What do you think about the bracing of the four sides of the interior walls? I just bought a CW1 off ebay. I want to do some moddin to this thing. I imagined puttins a "cross" of two metal brackets on the inerior for bracing. Seen anyone do something like this. What did you do to your corns. jc
  10. Well, I think getting new drill and make them black is what I plan to do. The "wood colored" cane grills are nice if you want the retro look. Check out the below two threads. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=51942&forumID=71&catID=19&search=1&searchstring=&sessionID={50E31BF4-618B-4432-BD6A-81806B99151C} http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=61537&sessionID={50E31BF4-618B-4432-BD6A-81806B99151C} jc
  11. I have become friends with the dealer who sold me my Mcintosh equipment. The Klipsch reference is there low end line of speakers. He tells me the premiere will be out late spring and the pair will retail for over 5 grand. jc
  12. I'm wondering why you would use wood for your bracing. Have you considered using a piece of steel between the mid and the woofer. Maybe something "L" shaped. That way less volume is used by your brace and the steel may be more "durable". Also, why not use steel for your "4 wall" bracing. I would agree with you on the crossover out side the box. You could create a little "house" for it. Why change the inside lining? Is yours bad? The back wood. Are you going to replace it with one thicker piece or are you going to add to it to make it thicker. Are you doing any grill mods? jc
  13. Upgrade to the ALK. I have scala 84's and upgraded 6 weeks ago from the AL network to Al's ALK's. The difference is amazing. I had considered selling the scalas. I'm so glad I didn't. see this thread if you want to know my experience: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=60062&forumID=71&catID=19&search=1&searchstring=&sessionID={41035405-7A43-4F55-8DA2-F1508FB4DA58} jc
  14. The first two examples are for 4 ohm speakers. The last one is for 8 ohm. These are your only options of wiring to keep between 2-8 ohms. If you want to have six speakers off one amp, i'll have to upload a different pic. The middle example is a series. The others are parallel. If you have 8 ohm speakers wired in series, you will get 16 ohm as stated above. jc
  15. Maybe this will help. Single voice coil jc
  16. Ah! My plan is to paint only. Possibly Black Lacquer or Piano Black. So this would be the steps: Sand, fill the defects, sand some more, sand some more, paint, then coating. Would this be good? Could these steps fix this: Thanks again jc
  17. having problems posting the pic in the thread jc
  18. Here is a picture from Greg Roberts using some kinda "filler". Anyone know what this is? Is it firm/stable?
  19. ---------------- On 2/18/2005 2:10:10 AM ricktate wrote: I would just measure your own,,make a carboard template minus 1/8 for grill cloth wrap around,,,then get some backer board and make your own,,,,easy to do.Black frabric from duracrest is exact match.Rick ---------------- Rictate, Interesting. Explain your process a little more. You mean the "backer board" is actually the grill frame? How do you get the grill on there w/o wrinkles? Do you glue it or use small staples/nails? thanks jc Colter, I've never heard of the grill cloth on the moterboard. I know you are a big Cornwall fan. Let me ask you this. I may inheret a CWI with brown grills and unfinished birch. If there are pieces of veneer chipped off the corners, is this hard to repair? I assume its veneer. Isn't this the "woodgrain" outer layer of 3/4 inch Birch? Also, can't you sand this as well. I have some cheapie furniture from college that is pressed wood with veneer. There is no way I could sand this. Is there a difference. I assume there is. Thanks JC PS Don't you have a 5.1 Cornwall surround? Do you use a sub?
  20. Colter, I have read that thread. Infact, you will see I have posts on it! Anyway, I'm not sure this thread answers my question. Maybe I missed it. You quoted: Grill board measurements for standard (horizontal horns) Cornwall Height 34" Width 23 1/2 " But you would do well to measure your opening, then subtract about 1/8" from each dimension to allow for fabric to wrap around the edges. Jim stated 34 1/8 X 23 1/2 (Is this where the 1/8th comes into play?) Maybe I got this screwed up. I apologize if the answer is in the thread but I can't find it. The question is "does Klipsch still sell the grills"? "Are the CW I and CW II grills the same"?. thanks
  21. Does anyone know if you can still get grills for the Cornwall from klipsch? Also, would the grill be the same size for the CW I vs CW II? Thanks JC
  22. How will you repair the nicks? Some kinda "filler" that will dry and later sand? jc
