  1. Yes ... I had a very similar problem ... There is a guy on Ebay that use to repair the boards ... I can't remember his name off hand ... I'll try to dig it up ...
  2. Hi Guys, I'm looking to add a set of the older RS-3 Surrounds to my current setup ... and leave me with the RC-3 Center, use the RF-3's as Fronts, and the the RS-3's as rears ... I have 2 questions ... 1) How much difference is there in the surround feeling of these "pryamid" style surrounds vs. towers or bookshelf types ? 2) What's the going rate for a set of used, but in very good condition, RS-3's (not RS-3II's) ? Thanks
  3. Cool ... thanks ... I'll give it a try and report back ... Do you happen to know the name (part #) of the other two chips that you're refering to ... I figured that I would go ahead and purchase them as well, just in case ... Thanks again ...
  4. Thanks Matt ... I just did a visual and didn't notice any issues ... Do you have a recommendation on how to check for damaged items, etc... Any help you could give that will allow me to attempt to repair myself would be appreciated ... Thanks, TIM
  5. Yeap ... the crackling and poping ... high volume and low volume kickin in and out ... with the volume level going up and down is the issue ... Must be this preamp ...
  6. OK ... took the bash amp off and checked connections ... all appeared good ... Checked for loose or cracked resistors, etc... and all look good ... Checked for burnt areas from connections on the circuit boards and no issues that I could find ... I then took the preamp appart and the circuit board has a brownish area on it ... not sure if this is the way it should look or not ... Here's a pic ... Is this normal? The other side of the board looks fine ... -TIM
  7. Hi Guys, I've been in the Klipsch world for some time with home audio but I've never had a set of Klipsch PC Speakers ... I picked up this set of 4.1's from a local guy for $20 fully aware that they had some issues ... Here's the deal: After a while of playing ...the front right speaker will begin crackling, poping, etc ... I also noticed that some speakers have louder output than others ... The sub seems to work great ... Anyone run into this before and can help me troubleshoot the issue ... I'm going to remove the bash amp and see what's going on inside ... Thanks
  8. Thanks ... I'll research the NAD line ... Anyone ever used a Adcom GFA 535 II ? Looks like a good older amp for the current price ...
  9. Ok Guys ... I'm looking for a good, used, low budget power amp here ... Something in the $100 to $200 range ... I've seen several on Ebay, but I've yet to bid ... I'd be happy with anything in the 100 watt x 2 channel range in 8 ohms ... Any recommendations for brands such as Adcom, Rotel, Carver, Crown, etc...
  10. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a nice used 2 channel amp (could even be a Pro Amp ... Carver, Crown, etc...) that shouldn't set me back much but would deliver nice clean power to these two KSB 1.1s ... The KSB 1.1 are rated at 8 Ohm ... 75 watts continuous and 300 watts peak ... I'll be connecting this 2 channel amp to my HK 7300 and power these in another room and will occasionally set them outside for outside listening pleasure ... You guys have any recommendations on a good 2 channel amp? Thanks, TIM
  11. Just called the Klipsh line and they do have a replacement for these ... It might be in my near future ... -TIM
  12. Hi guys ... I just picked up a near mint set of KSB 1.1 speakers ... They look great ... However, when I hooked them up ... one of the KSB's has a bad woofer ... Anyone have a lead to how or where if might find a K-1027-SV replacement woofer ... or maybe one of you have one just lying around ... Thanks, TIM
  13. Great idea [] I'm planning on giving it a try this weekend... Mainly looking for pros/cons that the Klipsch society might have...
  14. I'm loving my HK 7300 ... Lots of Power, Plenty of Bells and Whistles, & an excellent Digital Decoding system... My DTS & Dolby Digital movies never sounded better... I went from a Yamaha to an HK and really feel the HK goes very, very well with the Klipsch speakers... However, I've never owned a Denon, but from what I read... you can't go wrong with a Denon either... -TIM
  15. I currently have the "sub out" from the HK going to the LFE IN to my Left RP-5 Sub and then the LFE OUT from that Sub going to the LFE IN to my Right RP-5 Sub (each of these cable lengths are no more than 5 to 6 feet)... If I move the RP-5s to the rear... Then I could do this same type connection... but the cable length from the HK "sub out" to the LFE IN of the Left Rear would be 8 to 10 feet and the cable length from the LFE OUT of the Left Rear to the LFE IN to the Right Rear would be approx. 15 to 20 feet... If this length is too great... could I just use a Y adapter from the "sub out" of the HK and run a 10 foot cable to both the LFE IN of the Left and Right Rear RP-5 ??? Thanks, TIM
  16. Hi Guys... For some time now I've been running my RP-5s as my Front Main Speakers and my RF-3s as my rear speakers. I'm not sure why, but I've never rotated the RP-5s to the rear and the RF-3s to the front... Do you all think this would be a worthwhile move? I should still be able to use the Subs in the RP-5s via running them to the sub out... however, I think my internal receiver settings might affect the overall Bass somewhat. I believe that I currently have the Bass set as being driven by the Front L/R and Sub option in my HK... Here are the appropriate specs... 17. Merkin, Yes, I've checked a couple times and it is repeatable within the DVDs ... I don't have any exact areas to reference, I'll try to get some for you all during the weekend... There is one DVD that stands out in my mind and it is of a Fight Scene of an original copy of The Fifth Element "Superbit" edition... The Liv Tyler looking chick is roughing up some of the bad guys... and one of the loud sound effects makes the type "phenomenon" it's during the last punch of the scene before she climbs up in the air conditioning vent system... I'll reply it along with some of the DVDs that I experienced some of the dialog issues...and get a more precise location... Usually I hear these strange sounds and my wife doesn't really notice... It's probably because I've started looking for them... And ... I've noticed these sounds on both original and copied DVDs... I'll get more detailed spots in DVDs for you all to check... -TIM
  18. Everything within the DVD Player is set correctly... This is not something that occurs very often ... only on an occasional DVD with sudden, high yelling or screaming scenes... (and not every DVD with sudden, high yelling or screaming) I've read in the past where people had experienced similar "phenomenon" ... I guess it's source issues... Anyone else?
  19. All of my settings are pretty darn close... I don't think this is setting related... It can be several things... I'm getting old and my hearing is changing, My older Klispch center had a dome type tweeter, I'm too close to my speakers, I'm just too DARN PICKY ... or ... source, source, and more source Do any of you experience what I experience? []
  20. Hi Guys, I've finally gotten my Main System setup in which I'm currently getting maximum sound enjoyment. My receiver and all of my theater speakers seem to be firing on All Cylinders... However, on my "never ending" quest to experiencing Sound Nirvana I sometimes experience a strange "phenomenon" while watching some (not often, but occasionally) Dolby Digital or DTS DVD's. This is where I want to know if you too experience this "phenomenon"... Now remember, this only occasionally occurs. Here's the scenario: I'll be watching a DVD at fairly nice volume levels (nothing even remotely close to reference levels) and suddenly someone on the film will let out a loud scream. This loud scream is then translated into a sharp shrill (or non-normal) sound coming from my speakers (primarily horns), but as soon as that scream is finished, everything is back to normal. I've mentioned things similar to this in the past, and I'm almost 100% sure that this is just inefficiencies in the recording of the DVD's soundtrack (thus a source issue) and the fact that for some reason or another, they have difficulties recording sudden High Pitched sounds (sudden extreme change in pitch) accurately. This coupled with our Klipsch speakers efficient reproduction of sound only magnifies this "phenomenon" ... SO... Do you ever experience what I'm experiencing? -TIM
  21. I guess all our hype is good for business... Every since I decided to get another pair of KSB 1.1 for outside duty... Every pair that I've seen on Ebay has been going for about $100 or so... GO FIGURE! I'll find a pair some day... -TIM
  22. Thanks Guys... So I'll probably be ok to just hook 'em up and roll with it... Now to find some cheap KSB 1.1's... Hmmm, wonder if I know anyone with about 8 sets!!!!!
