  1. First of all, Happy New Year to everyone......prosperity, health and many more years of listening pleasure. I have a problem that I wanted to share with you folks! I have one corner in my home that will accomodate one of my Horns very nicely but I need to make a false corner for the other speaker. I have heard and read alot of information on proper positioning and false corners for the Horns, but I have yet to read a post where the user has a setup in which one corner is " natural" while the other corner is " artificial". Any thoughts on this? Does anyone have a similar setup? Will I notice a significant variance in sound coming from the speaker placed in the false corner? Is it just a bad idea? Cheers eveyone and thanks .
  2. So overall, and I know this is a individual preference, which speaker cable would you folks recommend. I mean within a reasonable price range? Cheers...........oh and ............Happy New Year to all!
  3. Hey Dean, my La Scalas were born in 1985 and my Khorns in 1978. Cheers
  4. I am humbled by the mastery of your answers.! I've gotto' figure this our since it is driving me crazy. Don't get me wrong they sound awesome no matter the placement, as some of you have already mentioned, but instinctly my head is turning to the area that produces the most sound. Funny..... I swapped the Khorns for the La Scalas yesterday in the same room and the imaging/ sweet spot is dead centre. I will give your advise a go tonight. Cheers Patrick
  5. The centre of the Khorns positioned in each corner is 45 degrees to that corner. Accordingly, hypothetically, if I were to draw two imaginary lines 45 degrees out to the centre of the room from each corner, then, where the two imaginary lines meet should be the centre of my sound/ imaging. In other words, if I place a string in each corner above the Khorns and I were to extend both strings out. Where they cross each other is exactly the point where I should hear sound directly infront of me. Is this theory correct? The reason why I am asking is that I seem to be hearing more from the left side then the right. There is nothing wrong with the hardware, it must be the imaging. Cheers Patrick
  6. Thought that perhaps the student could be one of you guys/gals on this forum. Ya know......... audio file junkies usually have a higher IQ then most. The following is supposedly an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well. Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different Religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell.Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you", and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God." THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A"
  7. I had La Scalas for the better part of my life and I just recently acquired the Khorns. Certainly my choice was influenced by my passion for Klipsch, but it was also influenced thanks to the tremendous help from those of this forum. I have been listening to them for about a month, after some proper sealing, and I am still blown away by the sound. It's the only speaker that can actually bring tears to my eyes and provoke such an emotional response when listening to classical sympthonies such as " Canon", " Morning". No other speakers, and I have listened to many, has ever had such a profound impact. I think that's truly the " Klipsch Experience " and the best summation of the Khorns and the sound they produce. Hey, I'm a " cool newbie ". Pretty soon I'm going to be a " no life " like most of you guys. IMHO. Cheers
  8. I finally finished sealing the horns. I just wanted to make certain they were correctly done. Thanks for all you help. Patrick
  9. I was thinking or leaning towards " SYNTHESIS monoblocks "......called the Dream. Here is some information.......................... http://www.synthesis.co.it/wood.htm
  10. My wife is going to leave me if she finds out. Anyway, I am looking at upgrading to a lower watt tube amplifier for my horns. I currently have the Golden Tube Audio SE-40 amps and I just think it's way too much. Any recommendations from those horn owners? Cheers and thanks
  11. Thanks Huhuru; My birth year is 1978. Now if I only new the day and month, we could have a birthday party every year. Oh Yeah.......I'm sure my my wife would like that???? She already thinks I'm nuts the way I treat the Horns. Cheers
  12. Hmmmmmmm........can't seem to find the birth year of my speakers, only the serial number. Can anyone tell me the year my speakers were produced given the serial number. Serial Number : 125890/125891 or 12S890/12S891. Can really determine if it's an " S" or "5". Thanks in advance.
