  1. Hi, I have one of the original ProMedia 5.1 THX systems which I haven't used in at least a year because the controller just working. It doesn't power on! Before this I was having issues with some of the speakers not working, I think rear might have been totally out and one of the front channels didn't work. I figured this was an issue with my PCs motherboard which I had just replaced not to long before. So, its now much later and my motherboard just went bad and I'm in the process of rebuilding my system. I've now plugged my woofer in elsewhere and the controller to the sub and the light still is not coming on. At this point I have no idea if anything is working. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be, has my sub gone bad or maybe the controller. I really miss using this system, thought I'd get it working for the new system but now it appears not. I just saw that there seems to be another 5.1 system with the tower controller. Are these controllers interchangeable? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Your loosing power. The 3802 or 3803 would have much more power and therefore would give you much better and more efficient sound. You would also get better sound at low volumes. They would also hold their values whereas the 1082 doesn't really have any value. It's worth the wait for something good!
  3. I auditioned the B&K 307 and the Denon 4802 last night. I knew B&K was good but until last night I didn't know how good. The B&K is definitely in a class of its own because the Denon couldn't come close. The Denon did sound good but why settle for mediocrity when you can have greatness.
  4. What color are they and how is the sound? Where are you located?
  5. Of the B&K line up the avr-202 is the best buy at just under $900 used. Unfortunately, I just realized that it doesn't have Pro Logic II. This is a bad development. I'm not spending $2500-$3000 for a new avr-505. It looks like Denon or HK will win by default. Denon seems to be the next logical choice for me because it is also upgradeable for future for future technology just as the B&K is. Now I don't know which way to go.
  6. I just sold my entire collection of laserdiscs . So, I now have two laser players for sale. 1. Pioneer DVL-919 Combination DVD\LaserDisc Player. This unit is in MINT condition with minimal use. For all practical purposes it can almost be considered new. For info on it goto: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pioneer/CDA/HomeProducts/HomeProductDetails/0,1422,275,00.html 2. Pioneer CLD-D502 LaserDisc Player. This unit is in excellent condition with no noticeable blemishes. It has built in surround feature and can also be used for kareokee. Both units come with both original manuals and remotes. I'm open to offers on both and plan to advertise them soon. Thx!
  7. ELite is absolutely the best looking stuff out there but I want something that'll last until I'm ready to give it up. Not until the first repair in the first year. I'll take Yamaha any day but I'm ready to move on and replace my tube amp and hybrid pre amp. I think the B&K is the only worth while receiver for me to look at. Even if I do get a used one.
  8. Why haven't you checked out the B&K stuff? Doesn't anyone here like B&K?
  9. No software or soundcard. I used my Panasonic DVD recorder through my AV system.
  10. The picture was perfect it was the sound that wouldn't work. It came out as wjite noise.
  11. HI, I just tried to record one of my DTS encoded Lasers to a DVD recorder. Much to my dismay it won't work. It's probably a stupid question but can someone tell me why? Thx!
  12. Keep in mind that cheaper means CHEAPER! As far as I am concerned they are already at the bottom of the heap so to spend $400 for something that looks good on paper doesn't make sense. It has to look good to me. There history tells me if I buy Pioneer I won't have it long. Can we afford to spend out dollars on equipment on equipment that will last a few months. I don't think so.
  13. After all is said and done. Nothing makes a difference if you've spent good money and your unit brakes down and needs repair within the first year. And then again the second year! Panasonic will last you.
  14. Just my two cents about audio salesmen. I find that 8 of 10 salesmen I run across in chain stores like Best Buy and what use to be the Wiz know absolutely nothing about what they are selling. When I walk in a store all I want them to do is play something for me. If I don't have the 911 on the product I will get it elswhere. The proof of any audio product is actually in the listening. When I bought my first pair of Klipsh 3.1's the salesmen didn't like them alot. They preferred the infinity's and some other speakers. Well! As far as I am concerned the 3.1 was a far better sounding speaker then "ANY" other speaker I auditioned under $$600. Actually the only speaker I liked better was the KRIX KDX speaker. This was an $800 dollar speaker so they really was no comparison. So, when looking for equipment decide on a few you like and go and listen. Buy the one you like the best!
  15. As far as I am concerned Pioneer is no longer a choice for any kind of equipment. They use to make really good equipment and sat back and did nothing while the rest of the manufacturers past them by. Nothing made by them last any kind of time. The last piece of equipment I bought from them was a CD Recorder and a friend of mine bought the same one. They are both less then a year old and a half old and they both died at different times. My friend was stupid enough to also by a Pioneer Elite DVD player and that never worked any good. It made noise, mistracked, and then finally just stopped recognizing the discs. If you want to buy something worth owning go for the panasonic, it would be a much better choice. I have a relatively new Panasonic DVD Recorder and I love it. I use it alot and it doesn't skip a beat. BTW. I did, once upon a time like Pioneer. I still have my VSX-9500 A/v reciever to prove it.
