  1. PBS has a great documentary series entitled "War Planes" that has some great footage and sound. They always advertise at the end of the show how to obtain a DVD copy of the program. You could probably get it from PBS.com
  2. Nice setup. I really like the center stand. I could use something like that for my C7. Just and FYI...Resize your pictures for posting purposes. Even on 1.5k dsl this thread took over a minute to open. Have a great day!
  3. As far as I know, you can't stream it directly to your ipod. You would need to stream it to your computer and record it to your hard drive--Drop it into your itunes music folder and sync it. Why would you want to do this. Thinking of ripping off some songs. Their is a reason that streaming audio usually has a pretty low bit rate. High bit rate streams would be too easy to rip and redistribute.
  4. I don't chime in very often, but I will today. I am going to reccomend a CD I picked up at the local thrift store this week. Classic Jazz-- Ron Gill--The Songs of Billy Strayhorn. 1. Grievin 2. MultiColored Blue 3. Something to Live For 4. Daydream 5. Star Crossed Lovers--Pretty Girl--Your the One 6. Maybe 7. Lushlife 8. Lotus Blossom 9. Satin Doll 10. Intimacy of the Blues 11. The Last Night of Evening 12. My Little Brown Book 13. I'm Checking out Goom Bye Thirteen really smooth well recorded tracks. A especially great job done on the classic Satin Doll. I checked, and it is available on Amazon. Release Date--July 14, 1998 WGBH Records
  5. I paid 1.99 a gallon for 87 octane today in GR Michigan. I honestly never thought I would see unde $2 gas again in my life time. I must say it was rather nice.
  6. Wow, Dr who, I know I am coming to this thread a little late, but putting the KG line after the promedias is pretty harsh. Have you heard any of the full range KGS--4.2's or 5.5s? I'll stack my KGS up against anyone with promedia.... But to each his own...
  7. A CD player is a CD Player. Its all digital anyway and my cheap $50 player will sound as good or better than your $1000 "transport"...what a waste of cash....
  8. I think you guys are confusing far too many attributes of the system and lumping them together! HDMI is simply a transmission standard! It has nothing to do with the processing of the signal. Upconverting is a method of processing that has nothing to do with transmission. In one instance you are free to debate the pros and cons of upconverting versus native processing, or in another you are free to debate the pros and cons of various transmission standards such as HDMI, DVI, component, S-Video, etc.. HDMI currently offers the best transmission of the processed signals - whatever method they may employ. Neither HDMI, nor any of the other transmission alternatives, will improve the quality of the processed signal. At best they can transmit the processed signal with the best integrity. But debating a transmission standard such as HDMI versus a processing methodology such as upconversion, etc. simply makes no sense. You are comparing apples and oranges. Thanks for the clarification...All I know is that I saw no picture improvement using the HDMI cable over component video input on my display. I didn't know the science of it, but I think that a lot of the confusion comes from the marketing of these players. They are the ones claiming to "upconvert" the signal to "near HD quality" if you use one of these expensive transmission cables...
  9. From a HD source, HDMI can't be beat. However, if you are thinking of buying one of those Cheap digital upconvert DVD players to get a superior picture on your new plasma TV, think twice. From my reading, the digital/analogue converter in your set will probably do a better job than the cheap player from Best Buy or Walmart. I bought a digital upconvert Toshiba DVD player a few months back, and find that the picture from the component video cables is better than the HDMI out from the unit. as always..YMMV
  10. Amen. Thankfulness implies being thankful to someone or something. You can't be thankful without an object to give thanks to.
  11. My name is pretty popular. 11, 894 people share my name.
  12. I think I solved the issue. It seems that with Safari you can't be signed in on two separate computers at the same IP address. Amy sent me reset my password for me and it worked fine until I logged in on my Windows laptop on the same IP address. Other browsers don't seem to care if you are logged in else where. Anyway it worked for me...
  13. Safari 2.0.4 (I believe this is the latest incarnation...)
  14. Thanks for the reply Amy. I am using the latest version of OSX. I don't get any error messages. I enter my login info, and after hitting enter, it redirects me back to the forum pages but I am still not logged in. It's not a big deal, just a minor annoyance.
  15. Hey Guys, Was wondering if any one else here on a Mac computer has issues logging in the forum using the Safari Browser? I can't seem to use Safari with the forum. I've tried my Mac here at the office, and also tried to log in with a friends Mac over the weekend, but to no avail. Firefox on Mac seems to work fine. Is it a Safari issue or does Klipsch have something against Mac software? []
  16. uh as far as the sensitivity mismatch...Forte II is rated @ 99db. Forte 1 98 db. Glad to hear you are liking your Forte's. Happy Birthday BTW
  17. "Addative"? Rule number one when dealing online. Never buy from someone who doesn't even bother to spell check the title of their ad.... Give me a break. Those rocks look like the decorative stuff in my wifes flower gardens. Maybe I'll try a few in the big rear port of my Sub-12...[*-)]
  18. Wow..good score mIkekid. I will vouch for the 2.2's as decent surrounds with forte. I had the same set up and was quite happy with them. I sold the 2.2's to a friend to convince him of the superiority of the Klipsch sound, and replaced them with a pair of KG 4.2's as surrounds.... Maybe I'll post my new set up in the "Let's see your home theater" thread. The 4.2's have recently been mounted on the wall. They are pretty intimidating looking, and sound great IMHO...YMMV
  19. I have never heard that exact set up, but experience tells me that there will be a bit of a sonic mismatch...Not as bad as a non-Klipsch center...but a difference none the less. It all depends on how picky you are about a seamless soundstage. You would do better with a KG 2.2v or 2.5v. They can usually be had for around $150 on ebay. Good luck with the purchase. I have always been a fan of the KG line. I like the sound better than any of the synergy lines, except maybe the newest line of Synergy.
  20. I think the rule is that they can activate players between series, but not during a series. Sooo....I believe they could bring Shelton back in for the WS if needed. By the way, did you see the super slo-mo video of Casey blowing out his calf? It made me shudder just to watch it. Fox's super slo-mo home plate cam is just awesome. The one annoying thing that Fox has cleared up since earlier games in the playoffs was the unreal sound effects they were playing everytime the ball was pictched and hit. They were inserting an artificial bat crack sound and an artificial glove pop sound--at least they sounded artificial...no way they could get that sound without a mic inside the catchers glove... Go Cardiac Cats!
  21. The KG line is a nice speaker. Very Underrated. If you don't need video shielding, the KG2.2 or 2.5 without the "v" is the same speaker..just not video shielded. Video shielding prevents picture distortion when placed near a conventional TV. Good luck.
  22. I'm with you Joe! I'm in GR too and had to dig out my ice scraper from the garage before I could get the kiddos off to school this morning. I have a garage but its still full of summer toys and no room for the cars yet. That's changing today! Bikes in the ceiling, wagons in the shed!
  23. Ahh the beautiful Forte' Congrats. I truly love my Walnut Forte's and, barring unforseen tragedy, will never part with them. They aren't giants, size wise, but they are command a formidable prescence when compared with speakers that are being produced and sold today. My one beef with Forte's has nothing to do with the sound. They are not the most aesthetically pleasing speaker in the klipsch line up with the grill off. They are very industrial looking IMO...No shiny woofers like the reference series, no modern clean lines, and the horns are very plain jane looking as well. The Forte 2 looks a little better sans grill than the Forte 1. Again, congrats on a great purchase. You will not be disappointed.
  24. Here's one from my obscure, hard to find collection... Jason and the G-Men--Swing Hard, Swing Often--1999 Contemporary Swing Jazz Jason Harms golden voice has the class and savvy of a Frank Sinatra and the attitude of his pop & rock contemporaries. His brothers support his guitar work with a rhythm section that makes a G-Men concert a blast from the past as well as a ride into the future of contemporary music. This album is a ton of fun and very retro. The only place I know where to get it is at www.Rhythmhouse.com. The actually have this CD on clearance right now..just 2.97 plus shipping.
