  1. Hi guys, I've posted about Phil Keaggy several times in the "Best Guitarist" Thread's, but no one seems to know who I'm talking about. Well, I posted a 6 minute video of Phil on my little web site. (56k warning...it is a pretty big quicktime file.) Enjoy it. Phil is performing the song Cajon Pass from his "Freehand Album"--one of his best albums. This song is Fingerstyle acoustic. http://homepage.mac.com/fletcherkane1/Menu1.html
  2. The KSW line has been discontinued. The new Synergy Sub 12 and the Sub 10 are huge steps above the old KSW's
  3. "An evening with Shane and Shane--Live at Spaceway Studios" Killer Live album CD with bonus DVD of the same set. One of the best mixed concerts I've ever heard.
  4. I know that a several people have posted about looking for replacement Forte passive radiators. Here is a single unit on ebay...No relation to seller...yadayada... http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-Quartet-Forte-replacement-passive-radiator-NEW_W0QQitemZ5875842900QQcategoryZ61378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. I think I've shared this story earlier on the forum, but I too, love my Forte's. Shortly after I got married a friend of mine from my church was leaving for the mission field. He asks if I would like to have some audio gear. He didn't have time to sell it and just wanted to get rid of it. I said sure. Understand, that to this point in my life, the best audio gear I had ever owned was a "All in One" Magnavox system with a pair of speakers that had a thin wire that came out of the back and hooked up to the system with an RCA style plug. I had never heard of Klipsch and had never thought of spending the kind of money that quality audio gear would cost. Anyway, back to the story. Jared, my friend shows up in his pickup with the bed filled with gear. My wife was less than happy...In the bed of the truck were a pair of Klipsch Forte's, a DBX-3 300 wpc power amp, the matching pre, a DBX compressor, 31 band stereo eq, Pioneer 6 disc changer etc, some speaker cables that were at least a quareter inch in diameter each--they look to be about 10 gauge--no name on them, but I still use them to this day. I didn't even have the slightest clue as to how to hook all of this equipment up. He assisted me and powered it up, and I was in heaven... Thus began my love affair with Klipsch. Most of the equipment has been pawned off and upgraded, except for the Forte's. They'll never leave...
  6. My Pioneer has THX post processing, and I use it all the time for movies. When I put in a movie, DD or DTS, the reciever is set to default to THX Cinema mode. The dialougue especially cleans up.
  7. Thanks for the thoughts guys. I think I will probably keep looking. More brightness is definitely not what I am looking for. In the budget of $500 for a 2 channel amp, what would you guys reccommend? I am not interested in getting into tubes at the present time. I have heard good things about Crown. Do they sell a Home Audio line of amps, or do you just use the prosound models?
  8. If you have a Mac you can use garage band...just rip the CD, then use the numerous tools to clip the track, fade in and out etc...then burn your project. For PC there are several programs. Roxio and Nero both make decent programs, but I have lately been using Magix Music Maker. It has an 8 track sequencer and will allow you to add all kinds of effects to whatever clip you want to use. A pretty slick program for around $50.
  9. Hi guys, I am looking at purchasing an Adcom 555 Mark II on ebay. This would be my first outboard amp, and it would be used to operate my Forte mains in my HT, leaving my Pioneer 1015tx to power the rest of my channels. Do you guys have any experience with ADcom? It looks like a pretty solid amp, and has plenty of power to go around. I am just curious if anyone here has paired Klipsch with Adcom and your thoughts on the matchup. I'd like to work up to a full Pre Pro combo for my HT. Is this a decent amp?
  10. I would think about. I'd like to try a forte at center as well. Where are you located? What are you willing to pay? Is the finish important to you?
  11. I always say it with a bit harder ending sound...llike the ch in church Clip ch
  12. I had the exact opposite experience with P&P at the theater. Dialouge was so muffled, I missed half the movie...the spouse and I will get the movie and watch it this weekend. I know that it was a better movie than what I was given at the theater.
  13. Hey, welcome to the Klipsch madness! We can help you out, and their are others much more knowledgeable then me. What receiver are you using to drive your new speakers?
  14. Sounds like Mac went to the "Bose School of Audio Engineering" You can't get HIFI sounds from a box that small. Physics baby!
  15. Does your Yammy have automatic room calibration? If it does, it will probably set your F3's as large speakers. Change all of your speakers to small and let the very capable Sub12 handle all below 80 hz. I also agree that you probably have placement issues. 3 feet from your listening position with that much sub will make for an unpleasant listening experiece. The I have mine in an 12 x 20 room, and the level dial is set at about 10 oclock. The auto matic room eq on my pioneer still dials the sub down by about 12 db. Keep moving stuff around. You'll get it!
  16. Mark 2:15-16 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many publicans and "sinners" were eating with HIm and His disciples, for there were many who followed Him. When the teachers of the law, who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and Publicans, they asked his disciples: " Why does he eat with publicans and sinners?" Kind of a double play on words--publican--republican AND--a publican is another word for TAX COLLECTOR Don't you love it when you have to explain a joke...[]
  17. boring I know...A Banana with Peanut Butter....
  18. I'll recommend a new CD this week. It actually comes with 2 discs. One is a regular CD and the other is a DVD of the same concert very beautifully mixed in 5.1 DD. The album: An evening with Shane and Shane, live at Spaceway Studios (INPOP Records) Acoustic Pop/rock. The band uses two drummers throughout the set, and it makes for some very unique rhythms.
  19. I voted Silver with one caveat. My home gear is a mixture of Silver and Black... I prefer the black. However, in my audio rack that I take on the road to gigs and such, Silver reigns. Black lettering on silver is much easier to read in lowlight situations than white or silver righting on black....
  20. Yup, SBC Browser does not play nice with the forum. Just use Internet Explorer of Firefox...
  21. Hey Silver, what browser are you using. I am currently using the broweser that came with my SBC DSL. I have that exact same problem. When I use IE or Firefox, the problem dissappears. Seems to be something related to a specific browser. I have tried to find a button to turn off this "search" feature but to no avail. Again, try a different web browser.
  22. Thanks for the help. I discovered the Plus setting on my 1015tx just after posting here. I actually think that I prefer the sound with the mains set to small. With it set to Plus, the 80hz and lower signal gets muddy--too many standing sound waves I think. It seems that the sub-12 is more than able to handle all the bass duty in my smallish room--my previous sub was not sufficient to this task. I assume that with the mains set to small, and the Sub 12 handling the 80 hz and lower frequencies that, in theory, my receiver will work less hard? I am just getting used to adjusting my thinking. It seems really weird to set my big Forte's as "Small" Speakers.
  23. Hands down...Phil Keaggy...one of his great albums "Lights of Madrid" is my avatar. Nobody plays more styles effectively as this guy. No matter album you buy, he continues to suprise. ( He has over 50 records released by major record labels..many other indie releases...) From Classic rock to jazz funk to pop to Beatlesque sounds to acoustic fingerstyle, this guy has done it all and at amazing levels. Check him out.
  24. Ok, a quick question (hopefully its quick) on connecting my new subwoofer. (Sub 12) I am running a Pioneer 1015 as a receiver with Forte 1's as mains. When I do the auto calibration, it sets my main speakers to large, and the sub to "on". However, when playing music with it set up this way, the sub gets no signal, I presume because the mains get the full range, and the only time the sub will activate is when LFE signal is present--ie with movies... So, can I hook up the Sub with both the High Level speaker inputs and the LFE? The manual says that if I hook up the High level, that all tones under 100hz are removed from the signal sent to the mains. So, setting it up this way does the same thing as setting my mains as small, and just using the LFE. Then my sub gets the low signal, and I have the sweepable low pass filter, which I can set at about 80 hz. I guess what I am asking is, is there a way to get a full range signal to my mains, and a sub 80hz signal sent to my sub simultaneausly, or is this just a pipe dream with my current receiver? (I guess the question wasn't so short afterall...
