  1. From what I have heard, to have your system THX Certified every thing in your system has to be THX Certified. And wouldn't that inclued all your interconnects and wiring be THX also. To me that would be a really BIG waste of money because you would have to buys Really Expensive wires and interconnects.
  2. some day my day will come and I will be the one with the NEW TOYS. Great set-up..... Enjoy....
  3. I use Fluke also. They make hand held models that do everything and just about anything you would need, and having one thats handheld is alot easier to use.
  4. I was in Truk Lagoon in the south pacific and the bartender didn't know what tobasco was so we asked her if she had anything hot. the only thing they had was Wasabi. So we tried it mixed up in the BM and it was "very interesting"
  5. Rick, I did get the parts list and I got as far as looking up some of the stuff on Mouser. Then I got busy around the farm, Then I built speaker stands for my KG1's. Once I get them painted I will post a picture, Its has to warm up some first before I can paint, the barn doesn't have heat. I really do like the way you built your amp with wood and brass It looks really nice. I may copy the look somewhat if you don't mind. I am hoping next week I will get the stuff ordered.
  6. In the assy manual does it go into adding the volume controls? Would it be better to but am old amp for the x-formers or buy new or reconditioned ones. as far as price verses reliability....
  7. I was thinking you would really have to have a strange taste in decor to have that go with anything in the house. But I guess if you could afford them you could aford to have just that special place.

  9. Now that is a really nice looking assy you did on that. I do want to at least put the volume controls on it. I would like to run it without having to have the pre-amp. I am going to try and look into this alittle more tonight but work is really getting in the way. I hate that... Where did you get the brass plate from and how thick is it?? Steve
  10. when using a 2 channel amp for the fronts and a seperat 5 channel one for your center and surounds, is it ok to use a more powerful amp up front than what you use on the other. In other words would it be ok to run a 300x2 for the front so you will have more power when listening to two channel, and using a 200x5 on the rest.
  11. Shannon sent me an email with a preview of the manual but I will have to wait until tomorrow to look at it. They have these computers at work so locked down you can't download hardly any files. It looks like a lot of fun to build one of these, the only thing is that yall talk about alot of upgrades and changes that I have no clue what your talking about. All I know is that it will be fun learning and experamenting. That is with help from yall that is. Rick, what do you think the price of all the parts for this amp?? I look forward to bugging yall for help.......haha
  12. Have been doing alot of reading here, and believe me there is a lot to read..... whew... I am in the process of searching and auditioning components for our new Home Theater. I really like the Rotel RSP-1068, RMB-1095, and RB-1080. This will be hooked up to 2)RF-7, 1)RC-7, 2)RS-7 and 2)RB-75, and 1)RSW-15. What I would like to know is there the option to adjust the crossovers for each set of speakers or just the subwoofer. I didn't know to ask this when I auditioned the rotel gear. Its amasing the amount of information and the knowlage of the people in this forum. I know I will be picking your brains alot more before I am done with this project. In advance thanks for your help, Steve
  13. Rick, Thanks for the info on the tube amp kits. I will send them an e-mail to see if I can get the pc board and parts list and go from there. Looks like a fun project to get into this winter while its cold. Looking forward to hearing something alittle different from my 5.2's. Do you think this amp will sound good with them? Steve
  14. try the garmin StreetPilot c330. http://www.garmin.com/products/sp330/ I have had better luck with the garmin stuff over the magellan as far as there user friendliness. Good luck to your friend. I had a brother in law that went thru that. Took him a long time to recover and never fully got back to his old self.
  15. I was in a shop listening to a RF-7 setup I am looking at buying for our upcomming HT, and was treated to some Stealy Dan on a McIntosh 275. OMG I could not believe what I HAVEN'T been hearing. I really wish I had the funds to get a tube amp to use with my 5.2's that will stay in the livingroom. The only downfall was the amp wasn't hooked up to Klipsch's. They had two monoblock MC1201 hooked up to their XRT30 speaker system. I didn't ask him to crank that up tho. Thats WAY, WAY, WAY, out of my pocketbook range....... I am very good with DIY kits can anyone recomend a tube amp kit that has a somewhat easier to swallow price tag??? I don't know but I might be hooked on this tube thing with just one listen...............
  16. custom, I ride a 98 Harley Softail Custom Steve, its my name 01, cause customsteve was already taken on the first forum I signed up on.
  17. March 25, 2005 The movie Sahara will be released. This is based on the book by Clive Cusler. It will star Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn. You can view the trailer at http://www.saharamovie.com/ I can't view it on my HT system but any that have there computer linked into thiers let me know how it sounds. From the looks of it this will be a really good series of films. M.M. has signed on to do several as Dirk Pitt. I would have rather seen Hugh Jackman play the part but I think M.M. can pull it off.
  18. If you were setting up at 7.1 system with RF-7's as mains, RC-7 center, RSW-15 sub, would you get "4" RS-7's as the surrounds or "2" RS-7's mid surround's and "2" RB-75's back surrounds, or would you get something bigger in the back. Also I want to go with a pre amp and separate amps, would you suggest one 7 channel amp, or a 3 channel and "2", 2 channel amps???? I have never owned separate amps in the house just my trucks. I really like the idea and can see how it would really enhance the sound. Thanks for your input and Merry Christmas to all.......... Steve
  19. we are going with the Roman Cathedrial look. Entrance will be like entering a old Roman building and inside the theater will be pillars and the night sky.
  20. I did a search on the web and could not find anything indicating that Ultimate was going under. The sale person told me they had had several talks within the company about this and he didn't think that Tweeters would sell Klipsch again without some sort of deal from Klipsch. I wouldn't want to think what would happen if Klipsch didn't have a main chain to sell their higher end speakers in and started sending them to B.B. I know having there product in B.B. gets them recognition and they will be a better known brand among the masses, but I think they have a quality product that diserves much more.
  21. I was in a national home entertainment store(not saying the name, you can fuigure it out) on Dec. 18th and was having as chat with one of the sales people about speakers. (They don't carry the Klipsch line anymore, but they used to. I bought all of mine from them years ago.) He told me that Ultimate was going out of business in about two months and when they go under Klipsch will not have any of there higher end speakers for sale in a national store. I was wondering if any of you have heard this or was it just some kind of ploy by the sales person to dig a Klipsch and push the brands they sell???
