  1. PSG brings up a good point about center speaker placement. Is it too high or too low of your seating position? Are you able to post a pic of your front soundstage? I have Audyssey on my Denon and the Audyssey people say to leave the LFE adjustment at 120hz. On my Denon it is adjustable from the setup screen but it is not recommended to be adjusted. This is NOT for individual speaker crossover points. P.S. if you set a speaker location to "none" after the auto setup/calibration has been performed, you MAY have to redo the auto setup calibration. I believe this is true on the Denon models.
  2. Thanks for the well wishes. Hope you have a merry one. (Nice pic)[]
  3. I got food poisoning once from a McRib...these photos are bringing back painful memories. To this day I cant smell one without gtting sick.
  4. Hmm[^o)] Thugs? Who are you referring to?
  5. In the Denon crossover menu, if you are able to adjust the LFE channel, leave it at 120 and the other speakers at 80hz. You can experiment with the crossover points for the fronts but the folks at Audyssey say you are suppose to leave the LFE set at 120hz. I am referring to the Denon settings and not on the sub itself.
  6. Yes I was. I thought I had hit the quote button on my response, sorry. The new Sharp does look NICE from the pics.
  7. Youre clearly not familiar with the banding issue Sharp had on previous models.
  8. Maybe you are currently residing in Bizarro World and everything is oppposite reality.[]
  9. From looking at the pictures of the new lineup it looks like Klipsch kept the same grill design (pegs vs. magnet) from the original RF7. Is this true? Not sure why they would keep that design with all the folks that complained of broken grill pegs. I must say I am not a fan of the 3/4 length grill and the feet layout. Just my .02, sorry.
  10. Are you running the RC7 full range or large setting in your receiver? What is your receiver crossover set at for the center channel?
  11. Will the grills also be redesigned from the original RF7 to the latest style? That is definitely one thing that needs to be fixed.
  12. From looking at the URC website, it looks like the MX-5000 uses either of the MRF-350 or MSC-400 base stations. Just be sure and note the RF of the MX-980 or MX-5000 should you get one of those. URC has two different versions, 433Mhz is designated by the letter "i". Please see page 9 in the following link below. http://www.universalremote.com/resources/pdfs/MX-5000_reference.pdf
  13. Is anybody doing this? I have a question about the hi res audio codecs ( Dolby HD, DTS Master) are these streamed as well or is it just the core audio codecs (compressed) due to bandwidth limitation?
  14. Another fan of URC. I bought one about 4 years ago and have not looked back. Many are activity based remotes, meaning if you want to watch cable you press "watch" "cable" and it turns on all the devices needed to watch cable, plus I have mine setup to control the cable box menus while in this "activity". If I need to make on the fly adjustments to the reciever while watching cable it is programmed to give access to the receiver menus without changing the "watch cable activity". With the RF feature you dont need to worry about devices getting out of sync with on/off. It has a large wow factor for friends that come over.
  15. MissMiller, yes I currently have the RF3. My equipment list is detailed below. It would appear you are under-powering your speakers and driving them into clipping if trying to listen at insane volumes with 50?watts. Klipsch does recommend driving them with at least 150 watts. My current Denon is rated at 130 watts on paper. I would suspect it is close to that with actual bench tests. A person needs to be careful when comparing specs (watts per channel) between manufacturers. There are many ways a manufacturer determines power output of a receiver/amp. Seldom are they equal comparisons. The 3808 is now a discontinued model since it was introduced in 2008. I believe the comparable model in the new Denon lineup is the 4310. What kind of budget are you working with; how many channels (speakers); are you wanting to watch Blu-Ray with Hi-Def audio? This will help us to better recommend a replacement to the Sony should you choose to replace it.
  16. Welcome to the forum MissMiller. Sounds like you may be on the right track with the tweeter issues. When I started out in this hobby I had my RF3's hooked to a Sony receiver. I was not impressed with the Sony. Over the years I have upgraded the receiver several times. Each time I noticed a considerable upgrade. I have stayed in the Denon line with each move. I find I like the Denon/Klipsch combo a lot. My first switch was to a Denon 2805, it was a night and day comparison; even with the mid-level 2805. A few years later I got the upgrade bug again and went with my current Denon 3808. This was a major improvement over the 2805, so I can only imagine how it would have been compared to the Sony that I had. I am constantly tweaking, but that is what makes it fun. Good luck.
  17. Everytime there is a thread like this, I have to suggest Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits Private Investigations. This CD is very dynamic and excellently produced especially the title track.
  18. Nice little setup. It looks very familiar, I have the same end table and lamp. Unfortunately subs and apt. living do not mix if you are a considerate neighbor. Many times even if it does not seem loud or rumbling in your apartment, you can bet the neighbors can hear/feel it. I wish I had some great advice to give you since I am in an apartment as well. Good luck.
  19. Now they just need to get John Calipari to coach them. Fortunately there isnt a street big enough in Miami to accommodate the size of ALL those egos.
  20. I agree Bill. How self absorbed does a person have to be to put on a circus like that? Is it true that Lebron charged ESPN for the right to cover his decision live? I dont care if the proceeds went to his charity or not, what a pompous a$$ move if true. It will be curious to see which of the three give up their personal stats to make this work. They were all averaging 24+ ppg before the move to Miami. I suspect one of them (Wade,Bosh,James) will be unhappy before the season ends.
  21. I hate being "nudged" by fellow drivers. Nothing good ever comes from it, although scientists did predict we would have flying cars by the 21st century.
  22. Update: The Marantz VC-6001 just came back from repair (under warranty, thank God) Drawer wouldn't open, made popping/ratcheting noises, and immediately afterward the player wouldn't read discs. They repaired the laser circuitry; and apparently greased the drawer 'cause the drawer now works better than when it was new. $500 for a stinkin DVD player, and it lasts just over two years before sh!tting the bed. At least Marantz' warranty is for three years, and the service and turn-around at the repair facility (United Radio, NY) was first-class. Cost me shipping one-way; about $20. I dont want to rain on your parade but I would NOT be surprised if you have to send it in to have the laser unit replaced in a years time; being it is a Marantz and D&M Holdings. Fortunately you have a 3 year warranty. The lasers they use (Denon & Marantz) are pure JUNK. I had a Denon 3910 ($1500 unit) that I had bought and within a year, right before the warranty expired, the laser went bad. It would not load or read CDs. It would always display 00 00 00. I sent it to Denon to be repaired under warranty. Roughly 11 months pass, and I have the same problem. It is a ~$300 repair out of warranty. There are a number of reports for the same problem on AVSFORUM. There are also detailed descriptions of how to fix the unit yourself if you are at all mechanically inclined and have basic soldering skills for about $15.
