if i use jc's schematic and use my leftover caps that i'll be removing
to get my 40uf to around 50, about how badly will my crossover point be
off if i stick with with the .30mh inductor?
a higher crossover point wouldn't be bad if that's the case...
ah, a 6db slope (first order) doesn't sound too attractive to me. i suppose i'll just leave things three way and eventually sell off the diy alks for whatever i paid in parts and just build some es networks
so, back to my original question (before the distortion and phase change issues)..
what exactly do i need to change (disconnect) in my ALK x-over's to have these running two-way?
success!!
you're the man!
i had a feeling it would work once i realized turning the diaphragm around in the "gap" was a lot smoother. it sounded/felt a bit rocky before.
thanks a lot
unless i'm missing something, i can't take this thing apart any further. i disconnected the wires, removed the top plate, i see the aluminum diaphragm and it's plastic holder thing. i took the diaphram along with its platic frame out and now i'm down to an orange hump in the middle of the magnet.
i'm going to rescrew everything back together and connect it to the other speaker to see if i somehow loosened a crossover wire in the process of installing this
sigh... i'm getting some serious distortion in one of them.
sounds like when you turn those really old televisions or radios up too high.
does this sound like a diaphragm problem?
can't say i was as blown away as i thought i'd be, but it is definitely an improvement. i haven't critically listened to anything much yet... posting this after about a minute or two of listening to phil collins.
anyone mind telling me what i need to do to make my universal alks two way?
thanks
i just went from 10 year old 14 guage to brand new 12 guage last night.
with all that effort getting it to stay in the terminals, you'd think it'd be nice enough to atleast sound different []
