  1. i have them set up. using the 2-0 taps for -9.5db
  2. how tall should the metal mounting type things in the back be? you know, the thing that will hold my horn upright so it's not aiming at an angle toward my ceiling. i'll have to make one out of wood. i dont think the k400 ones are the right height.
  3. well i'm not exactly an expert painter, so i'm not sure how good a light color would come out. if i go the bronze/copper route it'd need to be nice and smooth looking, otherwise it'll look cheesey. i could bring it to an auto-body shop, but they might have trouble spraying toward the inner-back "tunnel" of the horn.
  4. i wanted to paint them a bronze or copper color. if it turned out ugly i'd just respray flat black
  5. i got the adapters yesterday. i called ups and corrected things with them. hopefully things will go smoothly on their 2nd attempt tomorrow.
  6. Dec 8, 2005 3:56 P.M. MASPETH, NY, US A CORRECT COMPANY OR RECEIVER NAME IS NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION well.. not sure what happens now
  7. waiting for ups.. horns should be here today!
  8. good price. if my projector deal doesn't work out, i may be interested.
  9. oh, and would you mind posting closeups of the "frame" you made for the 511b and k77? i'd like to get an idea of how you constructed it. looks to me like you screwed a piece of plywood with a hole in it (for the k77 to go into) to the 511b
  10. sounds good enough for me. why didn't you leave the tweeter in its original position? sounded bad that way?
  11. fits like a glove, trav. i plan on setting mine up ontop of the scalas like you have yours. hopefully i have enough room for the tweeter to mount on the side. looks great. any other comments on the sound besides "your room sounds bigger?"
  12. looking good, trav. ups says mine will be here thursday, but they usually come a day early. i ordered my partsexpress selenium adapters sunday, but they still havent shipped out yet. going to suck having the horns and not being able to use them
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/Altec-Lansing-Voice-of-the-Theatre-511B-Horns_W0QQitemZ5838259327QQcategoryZ50597QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem $75 bin from the same guy that sold me the other pair. these horns have mismatched colors and seem to be in dire need of a repaint (the white one is badly scratched)
  14. just ordered the adapters too.. i hope these babies perform well
  15. just scored a pair for $110 shipped! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5837771980&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1
  16. why stop there? it can also serve as a high end digital crossover, equalizer, and you can have all your drc and time delay corrections done from the same place as well. if you're into funky dsp effects, those can be done a lot cleaner straight from the source (pc) too.
  17. ah, nice. some just popped up on ebay. seems to be in perfect physical condition aside from the scratches, but i can always spray the inside flat black. i e-mailed the seller and asked for a "buy it now" price. may as well try...
  18. you know what... all this 511b talk recently has convinced me. i'll buy the next sanely priced pair i come across. there's a good looking pair on ebay now, but the corner chip by the screw hole turned me off.
  19. im trying to think of a way to mount the k77 ontop without it looking funny. i think a little box for it would look silly. perhaps a full sized 2x2 top would be okay. if you veneer or paint over it, it'll just look like one whole piece. edit: personally, i'd want to stick with a three way setup utilizing the k55 for two reasons, 1) i don't want to deviate from the original klipsch sound completely 2) i'm not sure how i'd go about changing ALK networks to two way anyway
  20. 3 and 0 haven't really screwed around with them much today. i'll save that for tomorrow, but i think this is probably going to be the best setting for my gigantic 11x11 room. so.. what's next? 511b's?
  21. well it's either six or eight.. can't remember, but i'm leaning more toward six.
  22. boy do these scalas sound different
  23. thanks for the guide, dean []
