  1. Well howdy, folks!  I recently sent a friend the somewhat crudely censored photos of actress Christy Canyon posing with her horny corn, er, corner horn.  Since he owns his own pair of cane and oak Klipschorns he was thrilled to see this historical image.  Now, 2 computers ago, I had the original, unedited group of 4 photos in the series.  Hard drive crashes and broken computers have meant that I no longer have access to these gems of the photographic arts.  I think forum member m00n was the gentleman who shared them with me originally, but I'm not sure he still visits these hallowed pages.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, can anyone help old man fini?

Try it. You might be pleasantly surprised...

I probably will give them a try.  Too short for the Khorns in the current set up, but since I have pCAT monos, I could spread the amps out a bit, closer to each speaker.  Right now the electronics are on a side wall.

  3. Hey dudes!  I still peruse local thrift/2nd hand shops, usually finding nothing very interesting.  Today, though, found something pretty cool.  A relatively short (8-feet?) pair of Straight Wire Serenade II speaker cables with banana ends.  It’s something I would never invest in at anything approaching retail, but at $8.50 out the door, I can give them a try.

The logbook defines "Vertical" as the standard orientation.  The riser would be on a short side.  "Horizontal" is defined as having the riser on a log side.

Serial numbers began with #101.  Assuming these are 114, 115, and/or 116, the log entries are attached.

JRH, I just have to know the story on this logbook!  If you've told the story already, please point me to the tale.  Is this in PWK's hand?

  5. With all the hubbub over the new 75th Anniversary book (the limited edition, numbered, signed copy), I just this morning developed a big desire to own an autograph by Mr. Paul himself.  Paul was still alive when I joined this forum, and am still jealous of those early members who made the first pilgrimage to Hope, to meet the man himself.  Years later, on my second pilgrimage to Hope, my family were very fortunate to get to be the guest of Miss Valerie, who bestowed on me (and my wife and two daughters) a treasure of PWK mugs, wine glasses, even a track suit for my daughter!  She was overflowing with Southern Charm, a very gracious host.

I'm looking for anything signed by PWK: a scrap of paper, a letter, a brochure, a photo.  If you have one to spare, let me know what you'd like for it.  Thanks!!

  6. My interest in doing this project has little to do with the quality of the sound.  It's more about making something that looks like a little Khorn.  I'd probably do away with trying to recreate the mid horn and tweeter, but it may be fun to incorporate, say, a 2" driver into a folded mini bass bin.  You know, for shits 'n' giggles.  I'd probably use 1/8" door skin for the parts (given the scale of the 2' driver vs. the 15" K-33).

With that in mind, does anyone have a bass bin cut list that I can down-scale from?

But they don't look like Khorns!

  8. I remember seeing some small cardboard (?) models made by Paul, during a visit to the train station Klipsch museum in Hope.  Ever since then, I've had an itch to make some micro-Khorns (probably w/o horns) to use as computer speakers.  If I were more ambitious, I'd make them horn-loaded (at least the bass portion, using, perhaps a 2" driver).

I have yet to follow through with this idea, but I'm curious if others have thought of doing this, or have indeed done it.

  9. I own an un-creamy Blueberry Xtreme and Pcats!  The BBX I acquired in a trade with Mark (for a pair of walnut Belles).  I love them!  I don't listen nearly enough these days (that room is overloaded with misc. crap), but they're sitting there waiting for me.

When Mark first joined the forum, he lived about 20 miles North of me, in Healdsburg, CA.  Forum member Clipped & Shorn and I visited him several times, brainstorming and working on some modified Dynaco amps.  He hadn't yet developed his Juicy Music products.  Mark is a very interesting guy, to put it mildly.  He swung from a totally tubular analog setup, to a super pared-down iMac-based digital system.  He tried Klipsch speakers, but also played around with smaller speakers, and flat panel single-driver speakers.  He also collected (and got rid of) classic guitars, refurbished and sold vintage tabletop radios (bakelite and others).  In short, he got into things intensely, then got out with the same vigor when another challenge (or activity of interest) called him.  He even self-published a book on nutrition https://www.amazon.com/Food-Fuel-Like-Bird-Queen-ebook/dp/B01ETSX104/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords="mark+deneen"&qid=1616863603&s=books&sr=1-1 !!

He's now living in the Palm Springs area (moving from Ferndale in Northern CA).  Deep thinker, very intelligent, and quite opinionated.  I haven't been in contact with him for a few years.  S

So, in short, buy 'em when you see 'em!

Deronda did the final assembly on those....meaning she was the one who installed all the components inside of them, then sealed the double=chjecked her work before installing the rear cabinet panel.  Mr. Bradford tested them in the testing booth using frequency sweeps! which he compared with what they were supposed to be, using a saved record of the correct frequency response in those sweeps. Mr. Bradford also was listening for any air leaks from the cabinet when he did that!

Andy, it's so good to see you still hanging around this place!  Great to see your posts, sir!
