  1. Still wandering aimlessly. I happened to run into a keyboard...
  2. Thawing a couple NY strip steaks for din-din. Might open a CA cab...
  3. Mmmm...a mug of Red Tail Ale, and a chaser shot of 12-year Glenlivet! To start a beautiful Friday night in The Friendly City®!!!
  4. No, I'm not talking about listening to music while eating mushrooms, so forget that! I've been going through my "stuff" and re-found a pair of Barzilay cabinets that each contain a JBL D123, and a cheap Realistic horn tweeter. The cabs were in real rough shape (particle board got damp and expanded, etc.). But the fronts were nice, and I salvaged them. Not the motor boards, but the walnut frame, and the cool walnut latticework. I'm not interested in building a cab for the JBLs, but I am considering constructing boxes for some Heresy components. Of course, the dimensions are not the same as a standard Heresy, but couldn't I just match the volume of the Heresy cabinet? Oh, and how y'all doing?

    DaddyDee, RIP

Dee was my first and best friend on this forum. He and Jan were so kind and trusting to accept me, then my family and me, into their home at Klipsch pilgrimages to Arkansas. He only loved. My deepest condolences to Jan and the girls. He no longer makes trips around the sun. He's now making his trip to the Son. He'll be welcomed with open arms. I miss you, my friend. Gregg
  6. Uh oh, might have waited too long to respond...
  7. Howdy do, comrades! Long time no see/hear/smell, etc.! I've been going to local thrift stores for years, and for the last several months, There has been a single Magnepan 3.5 in the "furniture room." I knew what it was right away, but I think 99% of their customers had no clue. Originally, they put it out at $150, but over the weeks/months, they've dropped the price. Today it was $49.99 (geeze, that's almost 50, right??). AND it was senior day...40% off...so what the hay, I bought it. It's still at the shop (I have a week to claim it), and I need to figure out what to do with it and/or find a hiding spot. My first inclination is to sell it. Not very easily shipped, but so am I. I'd like to listen to it. Who knows, maybe use it in a mono set-up? I understand they're at the opposite end of the efficiency spectrum from my beloved Klipschorns, Heresys and others. I could probably find an amp in the pile that would work. Anyone have experience with these 3.5s? And, is anyone interested in buying them? Love always, fini
  8. Having several years to think about this, plus thousands of hours cleaning the grooves (so to speak), my best advice is to start with 80 grit, then move on to 120, then 320, finally with 1000 grit (3M wet/dry, lubed with Mobil 1 5-40). Don't wash off the oil, or you'll have to start all over. You'll be amazed at how those pesky "clicks and pops" are barely noticeable.

    GO GIANTS!

As far as I know, you CAN pause the radio portion. BTW, does anyone like Joe Buck? Even his Mama?? Several years ago, my wife gave me a Kruk & Kuip bobblehead, which (during the season) sits upon the mantle. I think this year's addition of a penguin on their desk has made all the difference. BTW, I love Jon and Dave as well. Just remembered, I putsome money on the Giants to win the WS, while we were in Reno for the Superbowl. Crap, now where did I put the ticket??
  10. Mmm....The Goat Roper...

    GO GIANTS!

It's been a great postseason for our boys. Very exciting games! I found a great solution to the Joe Buck problem. I can listen to Kruk and Kuip on KNBR using my Kindle, and in perfect sync with the tv broadcast. I downloaded MLB.com At Bat (cost $3.99). It will work with most mobile devices. Beware: They'll automatically sign you up for the 2015 season in February (not sure of the cost), but you can cancel it. It'd be swell for you out-of-the-area fans too. Kruk & Kuip are the best!!
  12. Wow, thanks for the birthday wishes, guys! I was wondering if anyone still remembered me! Keith, do you need my credit card number, my SS number, my bank account number, or all the above?
  13. Boy, do I wish I could make it. My two visits to Hope (the first solo, the 2nd with the whole fam damily) were incredible. It was the beginning of some of my closest, heart-felt friendships. The opportunity to visit with Miss Valerie was the cherry on top of the sundae. She was SO kind and SO generous to my whole family. I hope all who attend have at least 1/10 the fun I had. You will be blown away. Hope is where it's at, BABY!!

  15. I'm not desperate for this, but does anyone have some spare (20-30') Ixos speaker wire, the braided 16ga (I think) wire that Accessories4less had, maybe 10 years ago? I sold my piano, and am moving the system into its place, which means one of the cables comes up short. I wouldn't be opposed to splicing (hence the 15-foot low end). If I can't dig up any, I probably will just use some of the wire I have here at the fini Ranchero®. Oh yeah, the wire I have is three shades of purple (coincidentally the title of my soon-to-be-published tell-all autobiography, about my time spent in the basement of the Klipsch museum with seti, trying to get the electroshock therapy machine to work). Thanks for checking, gents.
  16. Yes, it's "Bullshit" in Elvish, or at least a visual approximation of Elvish. PWK was known to be very skeptical of far-fetched claims made by some speaker manufacturers, which is why he had the Bullshit buttons made, and why he wore one or more at audio events. Methinks Elvish has left the room.
  17. Do those capacitors come in Pepsi can size? I don't drink Coke.
  18. Or, to take that idea to the next level, just never buy it.
