  1. I believe Dr Bill’s recipe is what Klipsch used but use what you like, your results may vary... Bill
  2. Dr. Bill's (not me) recipe': *remember fire hazard* BLO (Boiled Linseed Oil) heats up as it dries so any rags and whatnot should be thoroughly washed with water and soap and disposed of safely...preferrably outside... the Drs. recipe' IIRC: 3 parts Gum Turpentine to 1 part BLO...I found mine at Home Depot but should be able to find anywhere...good luck but wanted to share...Do only in a well ventilated area... Bill
  3. your take is interesting since I mentioned anyone can get the "secret" phone number proving there is no conspiracy and the black helicopter comment should further prove I was poking fun at it (unless Klipsch has taken to buying any black helicopters)...but whatever makes your world go 'round Bill
  4. except that everyone who wants to can know his number... the black helicopters are warming up on the tarmac... Bill
  5. to give you a good idea of how unobtrusive you are...I never knew you were a moderator until reading this...I just always liked your sense of fairness and evenhandedness... Thanks, Bill
  6. just my 2 cents but I have tried an Academy, a "popbumper'd" Academy, KLF-C7, KLF-C7 with Crites titanium tweeter modification and Heresy between my Heresy Mains and by far my Heresy (with Crites CT-125 tweeter in place of the K-77) and my Heresy Mains also have the CT-125 tweeters as well as new crossovers (well, new 10 years or so ago now) and nothing else I have tried has been better... That said I did mention what I've tried...and I've also tried RB-5s and Quartets as Mains... next was my KLF-C7 but honestly the difference in the KLF-C7 and the Academy was pretty close and at the time everyone wanted the world for Academys so... If yours are Heresy lls you can use the titanium tweeter mod but if they are Heresy ls you won't be able to use the titanium tweeter mod... Good luck with your choice...I really think you can't go wrong with any of your choices and I think you will like your Heresy home theater... Bill
  7. you've been around here long enough to know that isn't the case... Bill
  8. someone is getting a very nice set of speakers!...congrats to the new owner and the seller... Bill
  9. I wish you were closer too butI should be selling some rather than buying any and 8-9 hours...good luck with your sale Bill
  10. me too...and the pie slice logos too! Bill
  11. I think he has shown both Brookfield and New Berlin in other ads... Bill
  12. nice...enjoy the listening weekend! Bill
  13. that guy in Brookfield, Wisconsin does seem to jump on the bargains whenever they appear...as someone from Brookfield, Illinois it seems when looking at the usual places that if it's a good price and gone soon, I'll see it up there for a different price soon enough... Bill
  14. I prefer the Chorus ll but they are more placement finicky...they are a very well balanced speaker with that beautiful 15" woofer...I still have Quartets which I also find a very well balanced speaker with great bass but I do miss the 15" woofer of the Chorus ll but not the real estate they took up in my application... to me It seemed like the tremendous bass tamped down the mid for me on the Cornwall...I also realize I may be in the minority here...good luck with your choice, Bill
  15. I'm sure it was me misunderstanding...THAT being said...I can't see how you would miss your Heresys or Heresy lls if you traded them for a pair of Heresy llls unless you just want to expand your Heresy "empire."... Looking forward to reading your review of your new Heresy llls Bill
  16. congratulations and good for you on retirement...I've been able to help out with Family in retirement and I wouldn't have traded that for the world... when retired it is funny how something small can upset the applecart...like going to meet a friend for coffee and talk and having him cancel...that was my day's highlight...what am I going to do now???... enjoy retirement and best to you and yours for a good, long time. Bill
  17. I think you just might miss the first brand new Klipsch speakers you ever bought...however...I cannot see you regret buying a pair of Heresy llls to replace those other Heresys... I can't get myself to sell my first Heresys (not my first new Klipsch speakers) which were my reintroduction to the Klipsch Heritage speakers and this Forum way back when...they are birch raw that were stained the popular back then dark walnut and not stained the best but after acquiring them, changing out the tweeters for some from Bob Crites as well as his updated crossovers I have used them (along with a jorjen made and Deang crossover'd heresy) as my front there for a Home Theater since about 2005 Good luck with your choice Bill
  18. you made mine HDBRbuilder...maybe that's why they're so good... Bill
  19. wuzzer...your thread made me go to the basement and listen to a CD on the Home theater but with the player set to Stereo, the HT Receiver set to Stereo Bypass and using analog connections...after listening to this awhile (sounded very nice to me) I went upstairs and listened to the same song on my Tube set up with analog tube Heart CD player set to analog naturally and my Quartets... Although I prefer the Quartets possibly due to their greater bass both speakers sound very nice to me (it has been too long since I tried the Hereysys with Tube gear however)... Placement of the heresy should be a bit easier than a rear passive speaker like the Quartet but you were asking about the Heresy 1s and the Heresy 2s...I prefer the Heresy 1 to the 2 and the 3 to the 1... Good luck with your choice, Bill
  20. I've had Heresys (Is) since almost as long as I've been on this Forum and I prefer them to the sound of my brother's HIIs...I prefer the HIIIs to them all...during the time I've owned my Heresys I have updated the crossovers with Bob Crites crossovers and have changed the tweeter to the CT125 and have used them as the front three in my Home Theater (I did have 5 Heresys at one time in the Home Theater)... I believe one of the running changes to the Heresy at one time (early 1970s perhaps) did something to tame the midrange a touch...anyway, mine are 1978s so... Good luck with your choice Bill
  21. Thanks for your help Peter P. !
