  1. If I cannot get another (or refuse to wait) Heresy for a center...and I can't find an Academy...does the KLF-C7 from the Legend line work...anyone? Thanks, Bill
  2. I have been making my ears bleed...a little brighter than I am used to but I have not dialed them in just yet...piano, vocals, guitar...tight...very nice! Bill
  3. ...so...you people that have bought the Toshiba 3960...are you as happy as you thought you would be (though most the raves were of the 3950)...I realize this is a $49 dollar DVD player but since my Yamaha just crapped out...I thought this might be a nice cheap alternative to waiting without a CD player while I buy everything else...wheeeeewwww!!!! Bill
  4. dodger: "Your training is near complete, young silversport!" silversport: "What is thy bidding, my master!" Bill
  5. Everyone, thanks for the responses and comments...my brother uses the KLF-C7 with his Heresy IIs and said it seems a great match (he WISHES he had an Academy) Thanks, Bill
  6. ...by the way...I don't think these lack for bass...maybe I got a good pair? WOW! Bill
  7. Andy it looks like it has "OD" in the upper left corner...I have hooked them up after they were auditioned at the sellers...sounded great over there (Mcintosh stuff) and we listened to several kinds of music...a "test" CD, Anita Baker, Heart to really kick it out...sounded great...he even played music through his '63 KHorns...WOW!!! Back at my house, I fired up the Nakamichi and listened to some John Mayer "Room for Squares"...listened to No Such Thing through the KG2s...ahhh, this is why I like Klipsch sound...then I hooked up the Heresys...WOW...can these get loud but sound just as great low...listened to the same track as with the KG2s and then Neon and 3X5 and it was very nice...a bit bright (duh) but I have not "dialed 'em in" yet...I could listen to levels that caused me pain...the Nak has never sounded so loud (what must the neighbors think ) So far so good...since my CD player has quit (running CDs on the Sony DVD player) I think it is time to run out and try to find one of those $49 DVDs that were so highly touted here! Thanks everyone! Bill
  8. Thanks for that info...1 hour to go! Bill (No, I am not excited!... )
  9. I was afraid someone would say that... Bill
  10. 3dzapper: Alright, I checked the pics again and..."you are correct, sir"...that digit is in fact an "S" (hand written) so '78 it is...does the "V" mean they are video shielded ??? Hard to believe in '78 that this would be the case but that is what someone told me. Thanks for your help...1 and a half hours till I pick 'em up. Do I need the risers...my brothers Heresy IIs have the risers but the seller said no risers and that they are perfect as floor standers...he has KHorns so I do take what he says with a bit of experience. Bill
  11. Thanks for your comments and responses...Trey, thanks for the emails... I fell into some Heresys last night (but I'm okay... Bill ) so I may be putting off the synergys for now. Thanks everyone! Bill
  12. Thanks everyone! Today, I had planned to go and look at the Reference line one last time...listen again to the F3s (I am off of work today and thought with many back at work it would be less crowded!) and possibly make my purchase...TODAY! I got home from work last night about midnight...checked the Forum...checked Audiogon and e-bay for the newest entries...what's this, a pair of vintage (80s) Heresys...with a decent BIN and appear from pictures and description to be in excellent condition??? WHAT??? The seller is right here in Chicago, Illinois??? I TRY to do my research but I don't want to miss out on...kismet...fate...the Klipsch gods ARE smiling on me...I BIN...the seller says the surrounds are as new, the 62 year old previous owner (his boss) has moved on to HT (hey, maybe HE bought Synergy) and this guy bought them to re-sell and make a profit...anyway, I see KHorns in the background of his pics and he lives 10 minutes from my house...I go today (this afternoon) to pick them up. I will keep you all up on what they sound like and I am hoping to be BLOWN away...(I have KG2s and my older brother has Heresy IIs so I have an idea of how they sound) Thanks for all your patience with me. Bill
  13. Any ideas on a proper center channel for the Heresys as my mains??? I think a Heresy center is out of the question for now anyway...too big, bulky and not video shielded...how bout an Academy??? Hens teeth to find??? Well then...KLF-C7??? I have seen some in x-cellent condition for around $590 delivered...any other ideas??? I fear my Synergy F3s are fading from view. Thanks, Bill
  14. Okay, been looking to get F3 Synergys but I fell into a pair of Heresys (but I'm okay ) so now what do I do for HT??? Bill
  15. ...The photos of the speaker rears are clear but unlike my KG2s the first 2 numbers are not the year...I see hand written 595795/96 and Steven or Sevin Cox as one of the signatures...it also appears handwritten and looks just like the sigs on the back of my KGs. Thanks for any help...I got them BIN for $350 and I can pick them up...guy lives about 10 minutes from my house and was grateful not to have to ship them...he also stated that his boss used them sparingly and lovingly (called them his babies) and that they were in perfect condition...seller stated that he believes he was the first to remove the grills...yes he had KHorns in the background. Bill ...and this is all dodger's fault, too!
  16. I cannot believe what I just did...I have been over at the HT area talking about buying these F3s for HT and some of you guys have been telling me about all the great Klipsch of the past...well...I went over on e-bay and purchased a set of Heresys...I know the barn door doesn't need closin' cuz the horse has already left but: Anything I NEED to look for in '80's vintage Heresys? They were listed as original and bought by the seller from his boss. back has tags that read Klipsch with the serial numbers (matching in the cabinets) and H-BR...does this mean Heresy Birch??? The serial numbers are sequential and the signature of the tester has a last name of "Cox" that matches the signature on my 1990 vintage KG2s. Too late for me but what would a good price on these have been? I think I did at least okay here but I don't want to count my chickens until I see 'em for myself (...and hear 'em)...of course I already bought 'em. Thanks for any help, Bill
  17. kenratboy: Nice review...as I am in the market for new speakers and in all liklihood be buying Klipsch...I am interested in the Synergy F3s as well as the Reference (...and if I could find somewhere to audition...Heritage) speakers. dodger...are you softening on your feelings for the Synergys??? I have appreciated your comments and STILL (Oh make up your MIND, Bill!!!) I am keeping an open mind. Thanks, Bill
  18. dodger: I think I know exactly where you were coming from...I am not a young guy either...My early years were listening to Dad's HiFi Sherwood with the Eico tuner through a Utah 15" woofer with the tweeter attached...My father spoke highly of Klipsch especially KlipscHorns...when I purchased my KG2s, I felt I bought a little bit of that...Now when looking for new speakers for HT, my older brother who has Heresy's said "Look at Magnepans" (I think he wanted me to be a Beta tester for his second system ) well I responded with "I have been happy with my KGs...WISHING they were KHorns but why not Klipsch says I. I came here and got a lot of information that was REALLY HELPFUL...much of it from you and others here...I am saddened that when I bought the KG2s in 1992 there were MANY places around Chicago that had Klipsch speakers on sale for me to hear...today I must travel a bit to hear References and who knows where I could hear Heritages...and Chicago is no small market... Anyway, I thank EVERYONE for their input and whether or not I agree with it or not, I am still learning! Thanks, Bill
  19. T2K: Thanks and from what I've read about your Synergys since I first saw you post those...WOW!!!...nice score...I am just now stuck in the holding pattern on the components from Outlaw Audio, then... Bill
  20. I was watching this too...I was suprized when it topped $400...sometimes people just WANT an item though, say to match some they already have and this might be enough to "over pay." Hey, if the buyer is happy...I am sure the seller is. Bill
  21. minn-male42: I took a look at this read...thanks for the heads up! Now to find one of those smaller stores not selling all their stuff out in a week and see if they have the older model Toshiba with the higher end chip! Bill
  22. Dodger: I hear you...growing up in the 60's I heard my father talk about the KlipscHorns like they were the "Holy Grail" of speakers...money however had dictated that I spend less...we could argue the "value" of buying a product only once and at 43, I might NOW agree that had I done this, I would still be listening to them but...time marches on and priorities change. When I bought my 1st "nice" system I stepped up as high as I could go (however buying nearly "all at once" is a stupid way to buy, it unfortunately is how I've done it) and bought a Yamaha CA-610II, Yamaha tuner and CD player and a techniques turntable and added Bose 301s that I loved (I know...ugh, but I liked them) Then, while helping my older brother get his 1st "nice system" I too got the bug and "upgraded to a Nakamichi TA-2A (Tuner Amp) and Naks cassette deck with a B&O tuntable with Klipsch KG2s...brother bought similar but higher on the pecking order stuff and went for Heresys... Now I find myself trying to keep up with his Heresys, Acurus blah blah blah...let's face it, I just wanted HT and some new stuff. I moved quickly from receiver to separates to..."if you just spend a little more you can get this" syndrome... Now I find myself once again buying everything at once, and purchasing Outlaw Audio 950 processor, 7100 100 X 7 channel amp, their Sub Woofer and quite possibly, Klipsch F-3s (their "system.") I had listened to RF-35s and the F3s but in less than ideal surroundings and thought I would audition them in my home (30 day return policy should help) I do plan to use the Outlaw stuff for both music AND movies and I hope I have made wise choices given what I have to spend...I understand that if I spend a "little more" I can move up to better sounding speakers but it has to stop somewhere...I also realize that when I stop, then hear something I like better, this MAY cause me to start saving for that...we never REALLY do stop upgrading do we??? So maybe you see my dilema...since I haven't bought ANYTHING yet (Outlaw purchase site down, Holidays and all) NOTHING is carved in stone but these are my thoughts at this time and place. Thanks for all the replies and I don't mind listening to more! Bill
  23. Q-man: Thanks so much for the response...my older brother (do we still call him that now that we are in our 40s???) has Heresys and always wishes he had gotten the Heresy for the center channel but I thought this was something only for the Heritage speakers (not the newer shielded speakers) so this is good to hear...I did this HT in one big bite (chomp!) and have yet to get the Outlaw Audio stuff...when it arrives I will take your advice! As I have not gotten the speakers either, I may try 3 F-3s as well! Did you have any problems with them selling you only 1??? I know they price them each but wondered if they would only sell in pairs. Thanks to all for the responses..."it's alive....ALIVE, I tell you!" Bill
  24. Q-man, can you help the newbie (me!) understand why it is better to have an F-3 for a center than the C-3 that was designed fo that job??? I am closing to pulling the trigger on speakers and am very interested in this and your thoughts, Thanks, Bill
  25. Thanks...local pick up in CA only...n me in Chicago... Thanks for thinking of me though... Bill
