  1. no, I am saying the quality fidelity does not seem to be there but putting on a DVD or Blu-Ray instantly improves the sound...I just think the way TV is either compressed or set up for multi channel is so much less than DVDs and Blu-Rays...I was wondering if I was missing something with the TV... Bill
  2. Does anyone use parts or all of a Home Theater set up just for TV...or for TV at all??? I have a smaller "Home Theater" set up...3.0 for watching TV instead of using the included integral speakers of that TV and the sound is nothing to write home about... Panasonic SA-XR57 Home Theater Receiver KLF-C7 Center Channel with Crites Titanium tweeter mod RB-5IIs currently for mains...I have tried Quartets, Heresies and kg2s as Mains in the past Oppo BDP-83 I have the receiver set up for just the front three speakers and haven't found the bass lacking for most television-movie broadcasts...Usually these programs are broadcast in some form of multichannel and I see that my receiver picks up on this and adjusts accordingly... If I put in a DVD/Blu-Ray the sound quality jumps up quite a bit... Is this just a symptom of broadcast (U-Verse in my case) quality or something I may be missing???...I understand that a sub would help but in it's location, I have no room for a sub and honestly the speakers tried have done fine for bass...that's not what I feel is missing...I've even tried a multichannel mix without the Center channel to see if that is part of the problem... I do know that the KLF-C7 is not voiced for a couple of the speakers I've tried but I'm fine with this system when playing a DVD/Blu-Ray so I know this is not what this system is lacking...I also have a dedicated Home Theater elsewhere that does fine for movies and that system is 5.1 with of course a nice sub and Heresys across the front three... Your thoughts or experience would be welcomed.. Bill
  3. Godspeed and prayers lifted... Bill
  4. the veneer on these may be very thin so go easy on any sanding or you may go right through the finish...look around here on the Forum as there are MANY threads about care and feeding of your new Klipsch time capsules...nice way to honor your heritage is listening to Klipsch Heritage...enjoy! Bill
  5. this is just my opinion but I bought a pair of these a few years ago for my sister. She needed something for an apartment that wouldn’t upset her neighbors...I auditioned them and was struck by the Klipsch Family sound. they won’t knock you out with bass but I thought they sounded good for smaller speakers...that price is nice too. Bill
  6. BEC is just Bob Crites ”handle” on this Forum...I always had Bob do the crossovers as I lack the skill to solder... Bill
  7. I did this mod first and eventually changed the crossovers with BEC's crossovers but always the Titanium tweeter mod first... Bill
  8. I'll second that...I have put Titanium tweeter diaphragms from Bob Crites in every Klipsch speaker I own that would take them with IMO the biggest bang for the buck change...kg2, kg4, Quartets, Chorus ll, Heresy ll (ScorpsFan's), KLF-C7, KG 4.5, KG 5.5... Bill
  9. when I had Klipschorns I had to replace the crossovers from the previous owner (they had lead a HARD life)...I bought AK-4s is part because of the positive responses here from dodger and LarryC...always liked how mine sounded as well... Bill
  10. I was using a gone over by NOSValves (of this Forum) EICO HF-81 tube integrated with a whopping 14 watts per channel...as well as Nakamichi STASIS (Nelson Pass) TA-2A with 50wpc...I've also had good results from an Outlaw Audio RR2150 retro receiver 100wpc and an updated McIntosh MA6200 at 75wpc...the bass thumps with those Chorus lls...toe'd in a bit and about 10-12 inches off the back wall...near to the corners if you can... The good stuff is out there...I will also add that when I tried two Home Theater receivers I was less than satisfied with the sound reproduction...but it wasn't for lacking in bass... Good luck with your choice! Bill
  11. I have several pair of Klipsch speakers with the rear passive radiators...I had thought it was recommended in the past (although not in my original "owner's manual") that the rear of the speakers be near a corner with varying distances from the rear wall...someone posted on another Forum about the newer Forte' lll that the distance from the rear wall should be much closer than I had read in the past... Is there a general recommendation for distance from the rear wall for our passive radiators on speakers like the kg2, Quartet/Forte'/Chorus speakers??? Bill
  12. Did you contact Oppo???...it's been two years but I sent my 83 (non SE version) to them for repair...they had it fixed within one day and I only paid shipping...they did not charge me for repair...THAT is a rare kind of customer service. As to sound...mine sounds very good on DVDs and pretty nice hooked up for CDs in Analog out...I prefer the Oppo doing the Digital to Analog Processing...I'd imagine since the 205 is several generations newer it would sound even better...
  13. Aaron...great to meet you as well and those Chorus lls are well versed in the language of Pink Floyd...they'll be happy to play that for you... ...stay safe Bill
  14. I will miss them but I still have other speakers...he drove over 8 hours to get them...then 8 plus back home...I hope he enjoys them as much as I did... Bill
  15. They are much taller, larger and heavier for where I want them. thanks Bill
  16. Thanks RTFAN...I still have my Quartets with the same upgrades (as well as Heresys on another system)...they aren't Chorus lls but their footprint is smaller...all interested parties have been followed up with...thanks for your interest. Bill
  17. Thanks Rivernuggets... ...these are still available... Bill
  18. I always enjoy your insights and stories about working at Klipsch...and I'm still enjoying my H-BR's you built... as always thanks and thank you for your Service. Bill
  19. the definitive answer...and the "baltic birch" response by me goes to show what happens when I try to appear smarter than I am... ...I repeated something "I know not what I speak" so I opened my mouth and removed all doubt... Thanks for the correction HDBRbuilder... Bill
  20. I thought the Heresy lls were MDF with veneer...wouldn't the Birch Raw still be that way???...I know my Heresys are Baltic Birch plywood but mine are the first type... Bill
