  1. The older ST model are very good, the SST are a little better in the hight frequency area and have better grounding. But, you really need to A//B side by side to notice the slight difference. I'm using a 3B SST to run my RF-7's and they sound fantastic.
  2. I have to agree with Corey, Bryston products are the best built I have come across and they will get the most out of your Klipsch speakers. I upgraded from the Acurus A250 & 200x3 to Bryston 3B SST & 9B SST and I could not believe the difference in sound quality in every aspect. The Bryston's produced better bass, more air and detail to the highs and made my RF-7's discover their mid-range. My advice is run don't walk and get some Bryston amps and the SP2 pre-amp. I know that Bryston stuff is expensive but any other manufacture in this category is also very expensive. George
  3. Wuzzzer, just curious, why would you buy a pair of $2200 speakers and then connect them to a receiver for $350? You are not going to get your money's worth from the RF-7's. My advice to you, save your money until you can afford to purchase a nice preamp / amp combo. You'll be amazed at the sound quality of the RF-7's when they are connected to high-end components. Just my 2 cent.
  4. I own the Bryston SP1.7 preamp / processor and will shortly own the 3B SST and 9B SST to complete the 7.1 system. I have never had any problems with my SP1.7 and the Bryston 20 year warranty and customer service are large pluses. Bryston equipment have a very neutral sound and strong in the bass region. You can't go wrong with Bryston stuff.

    RF-82

They sound almost as good as my RF-7's in A/B comparisons. I have listened to them for about 25 - 30 hours so far and after about 4 hours of break-in they started to sound really nice. The RF-82's don't quite have the slam in the bass region or the clarity in the high freq. as the RF-7's but the mid-range is better.

    RF-82

Well I finally got the chance to listen to the RF-82's and I purchased them. The RF-82's sound much nicer then the RF-35's they replaced. Overall, the bass is better and the midrange is definitely clearer. When I broken in the speakers (which only took about 3 to 4 hours) I did an A/B comparison with my RF-7's and the difference was small. The RF-7's had a bit more punch in the bass region and the highs were better. But, the midrange on the RF-82 was more noticeable and definitely better then the RF-7's. I think Klipsch did a wonderful job in designing the RF-82's, a definite steal in this price range.

    RF-82

Buckeye_Nut, Thank you for the review. I hope to demo the RF-82's side by side with the RF-35's soon.

    RF-82

Jeremy, Thanks for the reply. I can still buy a pair of RF-5's, so I was very interested in your opinion. Were the RF-82's and RF-5's connected to the same equipment and in the same room?

Thanks for the reply. The new Reference series is not available in Canada yet. This is why I have asked for member input.
  11. I'll begin by stating that I was a non-believer that a power conditioner could improved sound quality. However, not anymore. The Elite 15 did just that. I noticed a cleaner and more musical sound. There was more clarity and the sound stage was more enveloping. Also, the bass was more noticeable and there was better separation between the different instruments. I am very pleased with the improvements to the sound and the Elite 15 was worth the cost.
  12. 1) REM - Around the Sun is an excellent recording. 2) Pink Floyd - The Divison Bell 3) Eagles - Hotel California (digitally remastered) 4) Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (SACD) 5) Ben Folds - Songs for Silverman (DualDisc) is pretty good as well.
  13. Ranjith, I dropped by to see Harley this week. He told me it would be another month until he gets the new Reference Line. However, he has good deals on the old Reference Line if your interested.

    RF-82

Has anyone listened to the new RF-82's and do they sound better then the RF-35's that they replaced. Thanks in advance.
  15. I have noticed that if you keep the grills on the brightness is not as noticeable. Two, if you place the speakers about 2 feet from the rear wall the bass will improve.
