  1. Hi there, I am looking for a schematic for a Rauch DVT 250S power amplifier. I have tried in the UK to no avail. It you have any information I will be very gratefull. Stewart stewartwen@yahoo.co.uk
  2. Hello Dragonfyre, Youve got me there I have not used the Reference or the Itech as they are rare in the UK and they cost plenty here! I have found with AB testing that a well sorted DC300a, on my rather poor speaker rig, sound awesome! And there is no fan noise. Just transformer lamination noise. Which with three of them can become a little wearing. As I mentioned Crown or should it be Amcron build superb ss power amps with build quality second to none and all of the Crowns I have used have the same type of seamless quality! But fan noise is the bane of my living room. But after all we are strange people in the UK. S
  3. Hi there Speedball and Dragonfyre, many thanks for your replies. Speedball here is my surround rig; HK DVD 31+Pioneer dvd of uncertain heritage, but it works. HK 7300 suround amp/tuner power output Oh my God its damn loud. centre l/s Tannoy DC1 a pair in series! main L and R ATC SCM35 Triamped using a pair of BSS FDS 360 and three Crown DC300a pwr amps. centre left and right a pair of Creek Epos M22 rear Usher 520s Bass bin using a pair of Richard Allen 15 inch units in a common 1/4 wave horn. This bin is of medium size, 6 foot by 18 inches by 24 inches, and runs flat down to 13 hZ! cableing from Black Rhodium, includes all mains wiring run from an isolated spur from the fuse box via its own independent electrical supply. TV is an old Toshiba black stripe 28 inch ( superb picture quality) All I need to do is get 775mv per channel to drive the actve crossover units and these will in turn drive the amplifiers and in turn they will drive the ATC drive units. Thanks Dragonfly for your time in setting the drawing out. I had come to the same conclusion this afternoon. I saw the email a few minutes ago. I also am going to try to incorporate my Hi Fi front end into the system. The main l/s system has been tried and tested over 15 months and sounds awesome, not as much slam as a pair of Khorns, but these are as rare as rocking horse teeth in the UK. I can only dream of a pair of these, a shame really as my living room is large enough to drive them and I have no nieghbours!!!!!! I also have a broadcast standard Beta cam video recorder which I dont use enough because tape costs are very high. Thank you once again for your help. The distributors of the HK equipment in this country do not know how to hook up my main l/s so I am at a loss. Maybe I should try unhooking my temporary Acoustic energy ls and then try the pre outputs? My brain has just shut down. S
  4. Incredible! A really lovely pair of loudspeakers. In the UK any Klipsch cabinet is rare. When you are finished would you sell them to me? Only joking. S
  5. Hi there I have just received the HK AVR 7300. On speech this amp is very neutral although I have a rather odd speaker rig...................... I would like to know how I attach a stereo line out to drive my Crown DC300a triamp/ATC SCM35A front left and right system. Do I have to disconnect the left and right speakers from the amp output. I spoke to Harman UK and the main pre out does not seem to work............ This has challenged my rather limited brain, although the manual seems very poor instructions for this application. Hope you can help a cerebrally challenged Brit! S
  6. I agree with you Crown amps are really very good. Although I tend to favour the DC300a. I own five of these and have rebuilt four of them. I currently use three of them to power a pair of ATC SC35M (yes I know thy are not Klipsch) and the sound quality is awesome. I am in the process of replacing the power cords with neutrick powercon connectors, much better than the usual iec sockets. Shame they stopped building the DC300A. I have tried a couple of the high power Crown amps and they suck big time. In fact DC 300A are almost as good as a Klimo OTL but I dont need the fire extingusher at my knees.......... S
  7. Thanks Bob, I had never listened to the Klimo OTL amps before and the bass drive is just gut wrenching. I hope to listen to a pair of K horns with them shortly.............. But they run very hot, makes my Crown DC300A feel positivly cool! I have listened to a number of se valve amps which sound very thin and weedy in comparison. Although the Klimos have a reputation for killing themselves, I have nothing but praise for these units. I have nailed a picture of one of them to this mail. I dont run them without the grille, tooo scary. s
  8. Hi, I have been listening to a pair of Klimo OTL amplifiers. I have to say these monoblocks are awesome! But sadly service information from Klimo in Germany is almost impossible to get.Does any one have a schematic for these rare beasts? If you have I will be a very happy old man. S
  9. I was amazed at the lightening transient response of the La Scalas, Bob uses a British valve rig with a Garrard 301(Martin Bastin mods) with an SME series one and a Decca C4E. This system is totally different to mine butit sounded so crystal clear and, in his room sounded so large. I have an Eminence bass bin which uses twin 15 Delta bass drivers, but I have found that bandpass reflex bass bins sound slow...... Although I could build a pair of bins using horn technology and somewhat smaller bass drivers, and drive them with a large power amplifier. This is just speculation untill I recieve my Heresys. S
  10. I have compared a TD125 against a few modern t/t. I installed hadcock unipivot tonearms on all of the t/t. The other t/t were, Origin Live Aroura Gold, Tom Fletchers Spacedeck, and the Linn Sondeck! The td125 was as good if not better in all respects to all of the modern t/t. I have an ancient 125 awaiting a new psu/ speed change. When this is done it will be put back into service. Thorens t/t were heavily over engineered so they will stand the test of time......... Good luck in your quest.
  11. In the UK any Klisch loudspeaker is a RARE beast. Although a friend has a pair of La Scalas which I find entrancing! S o I decided to buy the Heresy lodspeakers. I dont know if they are Heresy 1 or Heresy 2. I will find out when they are delivered. I also have an EL34 push pull amplifier which I agree seems to suit Klipsch loudspeakers. I was asking for possible mods because I love really low bass. and the Heresy as yuo describe them does not produce low end grunt. This ability is important to me as all of thre recorded room acoustic is cobntained below 50Hz. I will do as you say and LISTEN for a while before starting (if at all) on the mods. stewart
  12. I am sorry for the noise, I will try to remember not to shout. Thanks for the help you guys have given me. S
  13. I HAVE BOUGHT THEM(ISNT PAYPAL JUST GREAT) AND EXPECT DELIVERY BY NEXT WEEK. I WILL POST SOME PIX OF THEM AS SOON AS I GET THEM. I USUALLY LISTEN TO ATC SCM 35 L/S SO I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING THE EXTRA DYNAMIC RANGE AND SPEED IN THE TRANSIENT RESPONSE. S

  15. I AM BUYING THEM FROM A FRIEND OF MINE WHO HAS BEEN IN THE UK HIFI INDUSTRY AS LONG AS I HAVE. THEY ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAVE BEEN RUN FOR APROX 16 HOURS SINCE HE BOUGHT THEM NEW MANY YEARS AGO.I WILL PAY HIM £250 AND ARRANGE CARRIAGE MYSELF. THEY ARE STILL IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING. I HAVE NO INTENTION OF CUTTING THE CABINETS, RATHER TRANSPLANTING THE DRIVE UNITS INTO NEW CABINETS OR EVEN MOUNTING THEM ONTO AN OPEN BAFFLE. I DONT KNOW IF THERE ARE DIFFERING DRIVE UNITS IN THE HERESYS. I REALLY DONT KNOW VERY MUCH ABOUT THE HERESY RANGE OF L/S. I AM OPEN TO SUGESTIONS. S
