  1. What sound card do you have? If SBL! series, make sure the fronts are hooked to the green output and the rears are in the black output Also, try switching cables around to see if it is the cable that is the problem. How long have you had these speakers and did the RR work before?
  2. Dell has been a good computer.. bought one 3 years ago and my Bro got on a few years ago. Both have been fine.. minor problems but service was great. I went and built my own computer and would recommend it to anyone who feels like they can handle it. It is not hard at all if you understand the basics and could put one together I would go with AMD because of prce/performance As for RAM, go 256.. or even more if you are building it yourself - it is so cheap at the moment. You probably won't be overclocking so PC133 RAM will be just fine = money saved. For multitasking, you nay want more RAM sicne Windoze alone is a hog. Anyhoo.. it helps if you have access to software if you build your own comp = money saved. You can build fairly cheap comps with lots of performance if you know what you do and don't need. The main trouble with building your own comp is trying to find all the components at a good price at the least number of distrubitors. Also, be aware of how warranty/returns are handled from the places you deal with. Any questions, feel free to ask - email is probably best. ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 256MB PC133 Infinion Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1
  3. I just place my sub wherever I can. It has enough bass to please me so I am not too worried about placement ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 256MB PC133 Infinion Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1
  4. One of teh best places for bas enlargmenet is to set the sub in a corner with the port facing to the center of the room. This way, the sound waves from each driver will bounce off the wall toward the center. However, it is best to just try different placements yourself and see what you like the sound of better.
  5. There was a shortage on teh 4.1s so Klipsch made a deal with the 4.2s
  6. In the surround mixer for you SBLive!, make sure you have CDAudio selected for the RECord. If you have your CDROM connected via a digital cable, select CDDigital hope this helps.
  7. hehe.. ya - the Pro sub box is designed for 2 6.5" drivers.. nothing bigger. Sub boxes are made for specific driver sizes in order for it to sound good. 2 12s would sufficate in that box - there would not be enough air for it to move and you would probably hear all port noise.
  8. "Pull!" "Fwoop" "Mooooeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww" *SPLAT*
  9. yeah. from soundcard to pod to sub to speakers The control pod is made so it attaches to the bottom of any of the sats, which is what you saw on your friend's setup.
  10. Yeah.. the control pod found under Promedia Accessories in the Store. Main difference is the input and headphone output as well as a speaker off button
  11. Last time I heard - yes. they are still in the testing/development stage I think.
  12. 100 bucks? where ya gettin that. You can find Live! value cards for under $40 or pay around $80 for a SBL! 5.1 XGamer/MP3 You can look at www.soundblaster.com and compare the different cards. SBL! cards have digital output as well as analog outputs I do think a four channel soundcard is nice esp. for gaming. However, if you are more into just music, a y-adapter like you have will do fine since it does that same as a 4-channel card. I used to have an AWE64 value card for my old speakers and it was nice enough to listen to audio, HOWEVER my new SBLive! 5.1 is really nice because I was not able to listen to two wav audios at the same time. With a 4-channel card, you are able to have specific audio go to specific speakers Hope this quick bit helps
  13. You sure it is the Pros? Is teh screen jerking back and forth or is it distorting? If it is back and forth, might be somethign with your house's power. I have this problem when I am at home - college dorm the monitor was fine. My brothers monitor in the basement is like this too and he has AL's. When you get this movement, try pluggin in a vaccuum and turning it on - in my house, it make the screen move more cause of the electrical interference. Try different resolutions and/or refresh rates - I have found that some are perfectly fine while others have movement - some video drivers are worse than other also. Hope this helps and good luck. ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 256MB PC133 Infinion Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1
  14. Cuts out when playing what? What soundcard ya got? What do you have volume settings set to on teh pod and in windows?
  15. Just wait until you break them in.. the sound should get even better.
  16. You might want to try contacting your place of purchase and see if they can take care of it else contact Klipsch
  17. My IQ just dropped 100 points.. damn he is stupid. how old? 19? I would hate to see his school. as I shake the stupidity out of my head.. mind went numb when I got 1/4 through the Yamaha deal As Gluegun said to me before.. what you are probably thinking, we all have. Thanks for the bit of humor
  18. talk about redundancy.. sometimes the best source for audio is the simplest. Instead of wasting money on redundant items, spend it on quality.
  19. Might be the combination of no bass songs and a new set. One thing to do is to play a song with some bass and turn the sub control to min, listen,, and then back up. You should hear the bass drop out and come back in filling the song which means teh sub is working. Car subs are a lot bigger and are made for tight spaces so there is a difference in some aspects .
  20. Bass is nondirectional so it is hard to tell where it is coming from. You should be able to see the sub drivers moving with heavy bass and also feel the air from the port. Try a song with heavy bass.. like a woofer test or Nelly - Country Grammar. If you are hearing bass.. it is comin from the sub as the sats do not have the capability to create bass. Try keeping EQ set to flat line, volumes around 80% in Creative Mixer, full vol for winamp, sub at the mark and just give it time to break in - it does take time. If nobody is home, you can leave you MP3s playing a moderate level of just listen normally like i did and you will eventually realize there is a difference. The bass on a new set is not real impressive bt it will improve if given time. hope this helps.
  21. PowereDVD plays the sound better.. windvd has crackling but I think WinDVD might have better image quality.. As for you Problems.. Don't know what to say. Have you checked for different options? try the VideoMode option on AutoSelect if it is not. Let me know what happens.. email me if you need more help. Might need to uninstall and reinstall it.
  22. windvd.. powerdvd.. one worked better for me and I cant remember. Ill try em out and let ya know. I usually have no problem playing DVD on my comp. You should not have to get a DVD card with that vid card ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 256MB PC133 Infinion Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1
  23. Linux is good for any comp, even slower machines. Windows does not take care of RAM as good as Linux. Just running and typing this now, Windoze has 269MB Allocated RAM with a small SWAP file. Linux handles it much better from what I have gathered. Many people use 486 computers with linux on it for servers/routers. I had RedHat on mine at one point - just downloaded it for free from teh internet and burned it to a disc. I'm not sure, but when I did that I had to wipe out my HD and partition it. THe newer versions might be different I have Win98SE and have a Linksys router for the cable modem so we have 2 comp hooked up to one connection and I tried to get teh networking to work, but kept having troubles with my comp so I don't know if it is just a settign for me or if I need to reinstall windows
