  1. I vote for the Yamaha. RX-V2400 sounds great with my speakers!
  2. Thanks for all of the help. You all are right. It is a personal thing. I am playing with it and it is great. I have one side note to add. I put the spikes on the RF-7's with the plastic feet and without the feet (spikes only) I have to say that the speakers became less bright and really didn't like the sound. Will probably try them again at some point. They are in a basement, (slab) on berber carpet. What are some of the real advantages to them? If there is an accoustic purpose what is it. Didn't play with the settings much with them on as I am just now getting efficient with this receiver.
  3. Hi everyone again. I finally have a system up and need some time saving help in the settings. I have RF-7's for the mains and the surrounds a RC-7 for the center and the RSW-15 for the sub. I have a Yamaha RX-V2400 and DVDs1500. Can anybody with a similar setup give me a starting point for the settings? It sounds good already but I want this thing to RRRock my world. I am fairly new to this kind of equipment. My other theater has a Kenwood cheapy receiver with very little settings to mess with. Anything you guys can give me some advice on would bre appreciated.
  4. I glimpsed at an article while in Borders today but didn't have time to read the whole article. A new technology coming in 2005 is tv hooked up to a home network. Does anybody know about this and when it might be available? I am about to buy a DLP 60" and would wait a while longer if this would be something that would be worth the wait. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
  5. I never thought to ask this question before but several of you i am sure can handle this one. I am considering one of two systems. One for consideration is the RF-35 5.1 system brand new. The other is a pre-owned system. Four RF-7's, an RC-7 and an RSW-15. Am building a wall (face) to build in the TV, and the speakers. (including the sub) The sub will be in the bottom of one of the two flanking 30" wide bookshelves 24" deep. The TV and speakers were planned to go behind the flush face plate. Will this work effectively? Can also inclosed the spaces allocated for the speakers rather than leaving them open to the chase behind the face. Since the speakers take up some real estate wanted to maximize the space. Want them to sound exquisite so any advice is appreiated.
  6. Thanks all for the input and advice. I am on a buget of sorts and want to get the biggest bang for the buck. My listening area is approx. 14 x 14 and it is within a room that is approx. 32 x 24. I also forgot to mention that I want to put it into a cabinet that I am currently building and have read the front firing sub is what a person wants in that application. Have not bought any of the equipment yet since I am in the process of finishing my basement. Will be dropping a lot of cash for everything and have already spent a lot on the construction costs. I am doing most of the work myself to save a bunch of $$ as I am in the construction biz. If anybody has opinions on equip. pass it on. DLP vs. LCD. Going A/V receiver vs. separates because of the money and will probably get the RF-35 system thats when I noticed the sub difference RSW-12 vs. RW-12. I was going to buy some used Klipsches for a bargain but like the idea of having a warrantee. Got a price of $2250 for the system, does that seem like a good price or should I try to get it lower? Thinking about a Denon receiver since most of you seem to like that with Klipsch. Any and all advice and opinions are apprciated.
  7. I read all the specs and can see the difference between the two. What are the performance differences between the two and roughly how much more will I expect to pay for the RSW-12? Will be using it more for music than theater but don't want to be dissapointed when I throw in a DVD. Thanks for all of your opinions!
  8. Actually I am new to the Klipsch arena. I have a 5.1 now with B & W (4) DM 601 S3 for fronts and rears, a B & W LCR 60 S3 for the center and a Denon DSW-1 Super Woofer. Amplified by a Kenwood VR 409. A 50" Mitshubishi rear projection that is 12 years old all in a custom oak built in cabinet. It sounds good but just now finishing my basement and want to step up since I have a little money. So I have a little bit of experience but not like you guys. Will need some help with electronics and have got some good suggestions already but will not go separate. My wife is already having a fit because she thinks it is too much for the basement. Have not bought the TV yet so will need some feedback in that dept as well. I have a 28 foot by 36 foot area in one big room but the space for the HT is about 14 feet by 16 feet that is inside that room with a bar (of course). Will be very nice when it is done. Will post pictures when I can.
  9. I am a newby and have a question for the experts. I have an opportunity to buy year and a half old equipment. It is as follows: (4) RF-7's (1) RC-7 and (1) RSW-15. Assuming there is nothing blown, what would be a reasonable price to pay for this equipment and is there anything I should look for while auditioning the speakers. I have to make a decision quickly. Thank-you in advance for quick, educated, responses. I posted in another category earlier so if anybody has seen it please don't flame me.
  10. I think I can get this for about 3 grand. Four (4) RF-7 one RC-7 and the 15 inch sub. They are about a year and a half old and the owner appears to have been running the best electronics available. If I can get these can you recommend a upper middle of the road receiver for this set up. Will be using them in a 5.1 and listening to music more than movies. I am an old time rocker from the 80's and like my music loud but clear. Short of the obvious (age of the owner and how he takes care of his stuff, serial numbers, physical appearance of the equipment) any other tell tale signs I should be looking for? I am hearing you say common sense rules. Thanks a bunch!
  11. I am considering buying some Klipsh speakers and need help identifying whether they have been abused or not. RF-7's RC-7 and the 15 inch sub. Is there any advice you guys can give me before I jump into this deal?
