  1. I'd like to raise my Fortes about 4-5 inches. Does anybody have any ideas to do this or any stands (would remove the risers) that are 7-9 in. high? Any info would be appreciated...thanks...
  2. Can anyone here compare the Marantz 1060 with the H/K 730 that I currently own? A couple of 1060s just came up for sale locally and was wondering if anyone could compare the two. My Fortes are the original version. Should I give the 1060 a listen?
  3. I just recently bought a "near mint" pair of original Fortes. When I got them home and removed the protective foam from the back of the speakers, I noticed that one had a broken binding post and a slight tear in the rubber surround of the 12" passive. Does anyone have an extra passive that he'd like to sell? Or is there any fix to this problem? The tear is only in the rubber surround...
  4. I just listed it on Agon for $139.00. If someone here buys it, I'll lower price to $125 + shipping/Paypal...thanks.
  5. ...it is listed as 5 X 100 watts into 6 ohms. Here is a link to the manual... http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SAXR10.pdf
  6. Here's a pic of the back of the unit...
  7. I have two of these units and would like to sell one--too many amps accumulating. I just bought it brand new apx 2 mos ago from a local store. I have been using it with KG4s and Fortes and it is superb. As new condition with the original box and manual. Many people still think the XR10 is the best built and best sounding of the Panny digital line. It retailed for $600 when it came out a few years ago. I paid a total of about $195 for it--would like to sell for $145. Thought I'd post it here to see if anyone is interested before listing on Agon.
  8. I've found a pair of excellent Fortes about 2.5 hrs away. The seller does not have the boxes, so I will have to shoehorn them into my Mazda 626 as they are. Do you think it would be safe to lie them on their backs on top of 2 or 3 thick comforters (double folded). The binding posts are recessed and I don't think their would be any significant contact w/ the passives. One speaker in the back seat, the other in the trunk. both would be surrounded on all sides by thick padding...what do you think?
  9. Still looking for a pair of Quartets...will also consider Fortes in WO.
  10. I'm still looking for Quartets...will also consider Fortes in WO. Anybody?
  11. now I'm looking for a pair of Fortes or Chorus IIs. Room is 17' X 12'--speakers will be located about 3' out from the corners of the short wall. I like deep bass, but want it to be tight, foremost. Listen to jazz and rock...should I be looking for Fortes or Chorus IIs?

This listing just came up for mint CF-3s http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1117080100
  13. Listening to Zappa's Over-nite Sensation tonight. I think "Montana" qualifies here..."me and the pygmy pony over by the dental floss bush"...gotta love it...
  14. I have no connection to the seller, but, I noticed an ad in the local swap sheet for a pair of La Scalas in good condition; $1050 or BO for anyone interested. Phone # is (315)256-1831 (Tully, NY).
  15. Thanks for the input. Yeah...that's what I thought about shipping. Read too many horror stories about shipping damage--almost always the risers that get crushed.
  16. I have finally decided to upgrade from my KG4s to Quartets or Fortes/Forte IIs. I want to move to a speaker with a horn midrange. Should I avoid having either of these shipped? Or should I wait patiently for something to come up for sale locally? Before someone writes it--I can't go any bigger than the Fortes--I know how great the Cornwalls are. Also, still not quite sure which is better, the original Fortes or the IIs. Any input would be appreciated...
  17. Looking for a pair of Quartets--will consider Fortes--to p/u in upstate NY.

  19. Looking for a pair to p/u in upstate NY or shipped in their original boxes.
  20. I guess what I'm getting at is: from 80 Hz on up, is the Heresy superior? I'm guessing it is because of the mid horn, but was hoping to get opinion of someone who has had experience with both...
  21. Yes, I know about the Cornwall. Stunning sound but aethestically too big for the room. I have also looked at Quartets and Fortes. Another consideration: my room has some very strange bass characteristics. In the past, I was able to get terrific bass response using a sub /Behringer BFD to tame some ungodly peaks. As far as (4) Heresies go, I was thinking about music w/ DPL II Music mode. I would forego the center channel--never been able to get satisfactory center channel performance. Anyway, I would start with 2 Heresies and then add 2 more later. HT is an afterthought...
  22. in the midrange and mid/upper bass? I'm thinking about selling my KG4s and building a system with 4 Heresies/subwoofer. Should I just add two KG4s or will the Heresies be a major improvement?
  23. Wow CECAA850, that's harsh. I'm really trying to figure out a way to do this...what do you think about the Cornwalls in the corners of a 17' X 13' room (placed on the 13" wall)? Will the room be too small? Should they be corner placed or wall-placed away from side walls? So many questions about these monsters...
  24. Even though I don't think the wife would approve of their size, I just went to look at a pair of Cornwall II's. Unbelievable! These speakers are amazing. Bass was deep and quick and the midrange was to die for...the owner played some acoustic jazz and dynamics were incredible. Image size was a revelation to me (all this and he was using a junky Technics HT receiver with an equalizer)... so depressed to come back home to my KG4s...
