    Hu,

Thank you guys, I would like your opinion, are there any important Miles discs missing that I forgot.

Here is the list of Miles' albums that I own or that are in my basket awaiting purchase, normally these are the "studio" albums, apart from a few Compilations-Anthologies, such as Bird Of the Cool, Walkin' which are 25cm compiled on 30cm LP, especially at the start of your career! In any case, the rankings vary according to the lists, for example between Discogs and Wiki.

Those that I have are in grey and I have some in several versions, those in anticipation of purchase or in reflection of purchase are in blue:

    Nice video, thanks for posting.
Cool to hear, a couple of times (13:18 & 23:21), the tubular chimes from his clock.

His woodworking shop and furniture proves that he was a real hands-on producer, not someone who waited for others to do it for him. Not everybody has what looks like a 2-yard concrete mixer in their garages in case they want to do a weekend project.

The big clocks made me think of Dark Side of the Moon.  Would’ve been incredible to listen to that in there.

Seems money is not an issue here. 🙄

Yeah, it cost him more than money but it sounds like he was willing to pay that price too according to the article.  Drove his first wife to drinking, oldest estranged son wished him a slow death, and he simply alienated the rest.  After he died, the whole shooting match was pieced out for fifteen cents on the dollar.  Sad end to a sad story.

  5. I lifted this post from another forum ( https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=303204 )but thought it might be of interest here.  Not sure if this has ever been posted here - I did a quick forum search and found no history.  The WAPO article is a cautionary tale.  Hope the links work.
Please pardon me if this is a repost.

Ken Fritz. Approximately $1,000,000 USD. 27 years. A very custom 1,650 square foot addition to his house. 35,000 watt amplifiers. A 1,500 pound (680 kg) turntable with three arms. Three 10 foot main speakers, four 7 foot surround speakers, 24 subwoofers.

    Just one little excerpt -

    Quote:

“He crafted by hand the three 10-foot speakers that loomed like alien monoliths at the head of the room, with the help of Paul Gibson, a former employee at his fiberglass company. Each 1,400-pound slab pulsed with 24 cone drivers for the deeper tones and 40 tweeters — 30 shooting into the room, 10 toward the crimson curtains draping the wall behind — to project the upper-range sounds.”

What a logistical nightmare this has to be even though I'm sure the planning started prior to her death.  I slipped to Columbus to see EC Thursday evening.  The first song he played when he walked out on the stage was an unrehearsed "God Save the Queen."  It actually took about a minute for those in attendance to realize what and why he was playing it.  When he was done the entire place gave him a standing ovation.  THEN he had to do the show.  She's always been a tough act to follow!  Somber beginning then he brought out his A game!   May she rest in peace.

You posted a pic of your dog on the prairie a long time ago. That one and the one in HK harber are a couple of my favorites.

How long a drive to get groceries? I liked being out in the country, but it can be harder to plan your trips.

It is in big country but only about 4 miles from town and there is a nice general store for anything that we forgot to bring from home.

In the mid 1800s, there was an expedition across the northern plains to scout a route for what eventually became the Northern Pacific Rail Road.

I was able find a plate from the published log of the survey that shows the section of the Front, seen above, in right part of the drawing.  Though some of the features are mis-labled, the landscape is pretty much the same.

Since there is interest in trains and train lore, I thought I’d share a bit of history about a special place for us.

Augusta is a small town situated between the high prairie and the Rocky Mountain Front leading into the Bob Marshall Wilderness in NW Montana.

From a historical marker north of town

A bit more history of Augusta and Gilman.

The Great Northern Depot still under construction as the first train arrives in Gilman.  Guess which way the wind blowing.

Train arrival for the short-lived September Fair and Gilman Stampede Rodeo.  Looks like car parking was a novel concept back then.

Depot arriving in Augusta and preparing to be set in place. Augusta was added to the GNRR track map.

By the 1970’s the Depot was pretty much abandoned.

    spacer.png

In the mid 1990’s, the Depot was purchased by a Western artist and moved, once again, to be placed on a 40-acre parcel west of town and used as a studio and horse property.  It was later purchased by NYC caterer (who was originally from this area) and restored and remodeled somewhat for a residence/get-away.  We purchased the Depot about ten years ago and get up there as much as we can year round.

There a few more lights appearing on the horizon but it’s still a good place to star gaze.

Had fun finding GNRR things to decorate.

I love old photographs of train wrecks and old steam.

Found a place for some Fortes in what used to be the station master’s office.
