  1. Contractors called to say they’re delayed by about an hour or so.
  2. Still on a Miles Davis binge and waiting for contractors this morning.
  3. Time for bed when this side is over. Side 2 will have to wait.
  4. Are we supposed to have an adult beverage in the photo? I think I deserve one.
  5. We had a heating pipe freeze but I was able to save the old jazz albums from any water damage. So, I’m just playing a few now and relaxing a bit from the commotion and -$$$ of the past couple of days.
  6. With all due respect to @thebes, I think you’ve become my newest hero bonvivant-wise. I must say that I admire your work and not because of the subject matter.
  7. So, did you ever fake a sick day or grumble about having to drag yourself in to work? ”Oh crap, another dreary day wasted with scantily clad supermodels and hot porn stars - I need to get out of this rut.”
  8. Mary McCaslin’s voice was pure silver. We saw her several years ago at a very small venue here. She looked frail and her voice was all but lost - still a very touching performance. We got to visit with her a bit too. As of a couple of years ago, she was confined to a wheelchair suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy, “a neurodegenerative brain condition similar to Parkinson’s disease,” and no longer able to play guitar or sing. In my humble opinion, she recorded the finest version ever of Ghost Riders in the Sky. Give this a listen.
  9. How about a green one?
  10. I have at least one of those. I may have the other somewhere - I’m trimming back and culling through boxes of LPs lately to try to fit them into a reasonable space in our livingroom.
  11. I pretty much gave up any hope of ever becoming any kind of audiophile after seeing the amazing systems in this thread. I am filled with a jealous rage that mere words cannot begin to express.
  12. The Mark Isham score from Never Cry Wolf truly captures the feeling of the Arctic. It’s snowing a bit and I can hear a couple of owls out in the trees to accompany the music tonight.
  13. I pretty much gave up any hope of ever being able to play the guitar well after that album.
  14. Breakfast music to continue the guitar theme. Christopher Parkening put on small performances and held master classes here for many years. We got to see a few of them.
  15. Yes, it’s a gem - German engineering 🇩🇪. I have another 701 stashed away for back-up or parts but this one just keeps turning. The queuing damper isn’t like new but that’s no big deal. I have an old 1219 too. I’ve only run them with the stock Shure VN15III carts and I still have a few NOS carts and styli to last the rest of my life.
  16. I didn’t know that. Hadn’t played that album for years and pulled it out to see. Nice to hear it again. Thanks.
  17. “Swastika Girls” still sounds amazing nearly 50 years later. Fripp also produced and appeared on the Roches’ first album. One of my favorites.
  18. I don’t remember ever interacting with johnlw7 (he didn’t post much) but the thread linked below is especially poignant and worth reading through. Also, underscores the warm support on this forum and something to remember when discussions devolve into arguments - political or otherwise.
  19. Well, let’s not forget that he’d be older now and never was very far from dementia to begin with. We could ask what two motorcycles Duke is known for and what he helped me with over the phone once. Hey, I’ve just been insulted twice……..with the same insult. 😠
  20. I’m beginning to think it really is you. 🥲🥰
  21. Maybe more like #2. 💩 😜
  22. Do you know any teachers?
