  1. When bi-amping with an active crossover, do you guys crossover the lows and the highs..........or just the highs?
  2. When bi-amping with an active crossover, do you use the crossover for both the highs and lows..........or just the highs?
  3. Anyone have any experience with this amp? Audiogon.....$500. I'm looking for a tube amp for RF-7's.
  4. So that's what's in the other box that came with the Peach I recieved last week!! Thanks Mark, my pre-amp should sound better now with the proper attire.
  5. Nobody's gonna touch this one? I was hoping to find someone on here that has experimented with bi-amping the 7's. In the meantime, I got an inexpensive active crossover just to experiment with (Behringer CX2310).
  6. Thanks for the quick response.
  7. Pete...........Are they still available? I'm looking to power the high frequencies on my RF-7's with tubes. Audiogon has one but I'd rather deal with a forum member besides I'm only about one hour from you if you're in the Chicagoland area. Thanks, Scott.
  8. With the Peach, Crown, RF-7 set-up would it be beneficial to use an active crossover even if I'm not bi-amping? I was checking out some active crossovers...........DBX and Berringer have some pretty affordable units. Am I on the right path? I'm using a passive crossover right now just to experiment with but after reading up on the subject it sounds like an active crossover would be better.
  9. All I want is to get the best possible sound reproduction out of the 7's........for music, that is. I've read about some guys doing this with Jubes, etc. Gain matching ss and tube is a very good point.........that is what I'd like advice on. I'm all for going the cheaper more sensible route. You guys are good for that. As far as the room, I've treated it a couple of different ways with eliminating reflection points and slightly dampening the sound without making the room too "dead". It has been very beneficial so far. If experimenting with crossovers would do the trick, then I'm all for it. From some of what I've read, research has been somewhat minimal, I was leaning towards bi-amping in addition to the use of crossovers. What other simple solutions would you suggest? Thanks for responding and I welcome more advice/opinions on this. If this is a waste of time and money, feel free to elaborate..........
  10. That is another question I have. I've seen that is what other guys are doing but how do I know what kind of crossover to use? The "picky" RF-7's............would they require something special/different than say, the Heritage line? RF-7's or not, I wouldn't know where to start as far as a crossover is concerned for this purpose.
  11. I'm considering powering the low freq on my RF-7's with my Crown amps and the high freq with tube amplification. Just purchased a JM Peach pre-amp. Is there a tube amp that would be recommended for this purpose? Would this be beneficial with the 7's? I'm new to two-channel and tubes. Any advice would be appreciated!!
  12. I recently purchased a JM Peach ll for two channel listening replacing a Denon 3805. I'm still using the Denon for movies. My system consists of............JM Peach ll as the pre-amp.....Crown XLS-802 power amps....RF-7's. I have a two part question. Here's my problem...........I'm running two subs with this set-up. The pre-amp does not have a sub-out, so in between the pre and the power amps I have one sub wyed off out of the the left main out and another sub wyed off out of the right main out. The bass from the subs is not as deep or as accurate as it was when they were hooked up to the sub out on the Denon receiver. Sound quality from the subs is also not as desirable this way (compared to being hooked up to the sub-out on the Denon). It's not real bad, just not as good as what I was used to. My question is.........Would some type of in-line crossover in between the Peach and the subs be beneficial to achieve the bass that I once had with the Denon? (deeper, more accurate and better sq). My second question is........I'm new to tubes, new to a two channel tube pre-amp, so would it be recommended to use crossovers in between the Peach and my RF-7's? Is that only necessary with bi-amping? (can of worms I know). If so, what kind of crossovers? Thanks very much in advance on this........Scott. P.S. Thumbs up on the new JM Peach, Thanks Mark.
  13. Recently I purchased a JM Peach (tube pre-amp) to use for two channel listening. Previously I was using a Denon 3805 (still am for movies) as a pre-amp. Using Crown XLS 802's for power amps for RF-7's. Now that I'm using a two channel pre for music, there is no sub out to hook up to like on the Denon 3805. So what I'm doing is in between the pre-amp and the power amps I've got the subs wyed off..........SVS PB-12 Ultra 2 wyed off to the left and an RSW-15 wyed off to the right. This works but the bass isn't as deep or as accurate as it was when the subs were hooked up to the sub out on the Denon receiver. Sound quality of the bass isn't as good either. My question is.............What can I do to get the subs to sound like they did with the Denon 3805? An in-line crossover of some kind in between the pre-amp and the subs? Thanks in advance, Scott.
  14. ..........I'm feeling a bit more stable now.
  15. Newb question.....sold or not.........would these amps be compatible with the quality power hungry RF-7's?
  16. Will yours with the remote have the same "look" as the new Blueberry? jc I'm not sure about the remote itself but the new Peach is black without the wood trim around it.......just how I wanted it, matches the rest of my equipment.
  17. Although it isn't on the website, the Peach is now available with a remote as well as the Blueberry. When I found out from Mark about two months ago I knew I'd just have to stick it out and wait!! (ouch). Expecting it tomorrow..........it's only the second one he's made so far with the remote. Wonder if the remote can be modded with the older Peaches? Gotta have a remote!!!
  18. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new Peach with remote..............should arrive tomorrow. I have also depended on tone controls and eq's in the past. "Band aids" for sure. I'm really curious/anxious to try out the Peach..............no eq, no tone controls, no nothing but clean musical sound that I hope works well with the room treatments I installed recently. $1100 sounds like a pretty good deal.......and it's a forum member!!
  19. ...............Recently a Jolida JD100.
  20. Hey Coytee...........How much did the K-2 set you back? New or used?
  21. Thanks for the info Mike. I think or at least I hope, that at $500 for an entry level pro-amp I got the most bang for my buck to sufficiently power my RF-7's. 500 watts @ 8ohms and 800 watts @4ohms. I'm not sure how much the K-2 or the D-75 cost but my guess is that they at least double or triple the cost of an XLS-802? From the research that I did, the entry level pro-amps seem to offer some of the desired characteristics for the average audio enthusiast without breaking the bank.
  22. Dr. Who, I got some XLS series amps a few months ago and was impressed with what they did for my RF-7's. Just curious as to why you'd stay away from them? Thanks, Scott.
  23. It seems lately I've been noticing "Redbook" cd's brought up here and there..............Exactly what are they and how would you identify them?
