  1. BTW, Mark was very helpful and informative. Pleasant guy to talk to and I look forward to giving him some business.
  2. Never got your response, something's wrong with my e-mail. It won't let me sign in. Anyway, I talked to Mark from Juicy Music and he made me aware that the Blueberry and the Merlin are not good matches for my equipment for a couple of reasons. He assured me that the Peach is a suitable match for RF-7's and Crown XLS-802's. Unfortunately it's a little to steep for me right now so I'm gonna have to wait a couple months. Sorry I couldn't help you out but I know someone that may be interested.........I'll let you know (if you're still selling it). Thanks, Scott.
  3. I just sent you another e-mail and a pm just in case.
  4. Where in Chicago are you located? I'm in the NW burbs almost every weekend and going down to Joliet this weekend for a dragrace.
  5. Michael, I have my gain on my subs at approx. 20% and my reciever at 0db. I've thought about setting it the way you mentioned. What is the advantage of setting it that way? Cleaner bass? Do you use a Feedback Destroyer or an eq of some kind with your subs? I use a BFD with my subs so I wonder if I set it your way if my settings would have to be changed. Thanks, Scott.
  6. Ear, I have two RSW-15's stacked and they are both set exactly the same. Is one supposed to be at 0 and the other at 180? I assumed if they were stacked you would set them the exactly the same as if they were one sub. They rock.
  7. Thanks for the info guys. If I had to get the box/buffer of some kind would that be so bad? Or is there some other tube pre-amp under 1k that works well with the Crowns? Right now I'm using a Denon 3805 with Crown XLS-802'S and RF-7's. With the BFD and room treatments it sounds so good. I guess I'm waiting for someone to tell me that a tube pre won't be much of an improvement towards that warm tube sound? All the posts that I read describing it is right up my alley......hmmmm.
  8. I just seen a Vincent Audio SA-31 Hybrid tube pre-amp on Audio Advisor for $500.00. I'm trying to find out if it's worthwhile because I'm looking for one under $1,000.00 myself.
  9. I seen this pre-amp on Audio Advisor for only $500.00. Seems like a good price but I'm asking the pros here to steer me in the right direction. I'm looking for a tube pre-amp to use with Crown XLS-802's and RF-7's. Thanks in advance, Scott.
  10. I seen this pre-amp on Audio Advisor for only $500.00. The price seems tempting but I'm asking the pros here to steer me in the right direction. I'm looking for a tube pre-amp to use with Crown XLS-802's and RF-7's. Thanks in advance......................Sorry, wrong forum. I'll post this in two-channel audio also.
  11. Yo Duke.....................No subs???
  12. I had the Paradigm X-30. Gave it to my friend and he loves it for tweaking his subs. He uses it in addition to a BFD.
  13. Duke, are you running a two channel set up or does you're tube pre have multi-channel/surround sound? Did you upgrade from all ss to a tube pre with ss power amps? Big improvment? (I got the itch again.....)
  14. Thanks, we must have been typing at the same time.
  15. I bought some Crown pro amps a couple of months ago. Thinking about replacing my Denon 3805 pre-amp with a tube pre-amp if that makes any sense. I love the sound I have now but the sound everyone describes about the tubes is really tempting. Are tubes expensive? Which ones would match well with RF-7's? It's been in the back of my mind for a while now. The op makes me even more interested.
  16. I've thought about changing over to tubes. Don't even know where to start. What about a tube pre-amp with ss power amps? Anybody using this combo?
  17. Thanks for all the replies guys. Now I'm gonna try a new fan mod to quiet these things down. I'll make a post if it's successful.
  18. A while ago I was doing the same thing with a Klipsch LF-10 so that I could hear it more. I was getting the same noises you are describing. YOU GOTTA TURN IT DOWN, MAN!!!!!! Everything's maxed out, your trim or gain has to be tamed. Listen to these guys...........they know their subs. Good luck. (you won't need much with that sub)
  19. Room is 19X14. Listening position is 10' away from TV and front speakers. There is a window directly behind the listening position 10' wide X 5' tall. Rear speakers also on the rear wall elevated about 6' high. Subs are on each side of the tv, one on the left and two RSW's stacked in the front right corner 5' from the tv. GIK absorption panels are 4'x2'x4" thick. Room is open to the dining room so there are only three corners. Each corner has a 4x2 panel as a bass trap. Panels are on each side of the room at the reflection points. (I used a mirror) Another 4x2 panel is behind the center channel that sits on top of the tv. I foun that the huge window behind the listening position needed some treatment so velvet drapes now cover approx. 60 percent of the window. Initially I had the whole thing covered but it made the room too "dead". This is a room used for 30%movies 70%music. Like I said, reflections and echoes are under control but sound quality never seemed to improve. It still sounds excellent, always did. Rock music gets played the most in this room (usually the worst sound quality).
