  1. Mine are pointed right at my listening spot. I have too much furniture in the way to point them straight out.
  2. What are the differences between an Altec 811 and 511 horn? I havn't seen them up close or in person, and don't seem to be having much luck searching for it on the web. Thank You Rich
  3. Hi, Lovely job on the speakers! I am thinking of a similar build only using a ported bass bin like the Cornwall. Do you think they would sound as nice as the La Scala bass bin? Where did you get the Beyma's? Have you had time to listen to them much yet, are they what you expected?
  4. really, i swear you folks crack me up in here...
  5. my advice is change your avitar
  6. while in my early twentys i lived on the north shore of lake tahoe, while hitchhiking down to sacramento to visit a friend i was picked up by a mexican guy driving a big caddy. we talked for the entire trip, covered all kinds of topics, just had a nice time shooting the breeze. when i was about to get out the man thanked me for helping him with some things that were on his mind and said if it was ok he was going to use some of the things we spoke about the next day at a meeting he was attending, i said sure it was fine with me and thanks for the ride. he said my name is cesar chavez and i am the leader of the united farm workers, it was nice to meet you, and good luck. i also had clint eastwood ride past my house on a bicycle while living at tahoe. had a car drive across a four lane divided road in front of me while driving a brand new 76 trans am 455 HO at 160+, swerved and missed, stopped and got out, walked back home...
  7. the speakes are a bit over the top but the rest of the furniture is quite nice.
  8. I really enjoy all of the input. Couple of points 1. I did not hit on her... I complimented her looks in a what i thought was a gentlemanly way. 2. These were school provided email accounts, and we are both adults 3. The dean of students reviewed the offending email with me and saw nothing wrong with it. (student teacher relation was an issue but considering our age he thought it could have been handled differently by her.) he also thinks she is attractive, he said so. however he is smart enough to not write it down in an email and sigh his name then push send... Anyway after sleeping on it i awoke early this morning and sent her a heart felt apology.( I doubt she reads it.)I also sent a copy along with my apology to the dean of students for wasting his time. I then dropped her class and enrolled in one on a different day and on the other side of campus, no sense rubbing salt in the raw nerve i hit by being in her class for the next 10 weeks. Mr. McDermott i think you hit it on the head, I was stupid. Thanks for the all of the advice, rock on.
  9. hey call me stupid it won't be the first time, really i fail to see how this was "bad". all she had to do was come over to me and say something like backoff or no thanks or perhaps, this was inappropriate....anything.... live and learn i guess, chalk another lesson up for stupid guy...
  10. brief history: i am 50 taking my last class to get my associates degree in drafting and design with an architecture major. actually have met all requirements, just need to be "currently enrolled" to graduate. missed the deadline to submit my petition to graduate so i have to take a class this summer quarter. anyway i decided to take a digital media class, looked fun and what the heck stuff could very well be applied to things i do right now. so i'm off to class... every monday 9:00-1:00, ouch, bad time for a small business contractor but oh well got to do it. last monday: day one enter class to see a very fine looking woman teacher/professor? tall, red hair, smart, and very pretty. one of our assignments was to email her so she could tell us of unexpected changes to the schedule etc. so i took this assignment a bit further and told her that i thought she was attractive. i didn't get aggressive, lewd, threatning, or anything in anyway obsene. today: day two sherriff at the door, asking me to accompany him to so and so's office....ok i say i get to the dean of students office and meet a very nice guy with a copy of my email. he says do you know why you are here? i have an idea i said. long story short, he also thinks she is attractive and that she over reacted to my email, we are both approximately the same age and that he saw no problem with what i had said to her whatsoever. she on the otherhand was pushing for me to be kicked out of school w/o my degree due to my "agressiveness" when did it become big deal for one adult to tell another that they look nice? i meant nothing but na compliment. now i am in the sh!t house. oh well at least i said what was on my mind. guess i'll be taking another class this fall...
  11. life...go figure time to dust off that trolling motor.
  12. the cd's i have aren't from this year. and they are the complete show, so if you want to chop out the drum solo i guess you would have to do it yourself. mine are 3 cd set, so they must have kicked up the technology to dvd huh?
  13. buy the "instant live" cd after the allman bros show if offered... i have several of these from different shows and think they are great. the first one i got, i didn't listen to for a few days and when i played it i thought thats not the show i was at it sounds too good. not a lot of crowd noise etc, and they do a nice job with the recording i think.
  14. i use both techniques, sometimes due to the vehicle, other times due to my right leg being a bit funky from a sporting accident in my youth. i find it preposterous to imply that someone braking with their left foot is somehow driving in an inferior manor. there are so many things being done poorly by by so many people while driving, that which foot they use to brake with doesn't make the radar screen with my bytch list[]
