Because if you tire of the clangy, fork-scraping-on-china sound you can easily sell them. Nothing lost. My opinion ya understand. ---------------- I was under the impression that you liked Heresy's!!?? Dave ---------------- I thought most everyone did ? I haven't had the chance to hear the Heresy's but liked even the low-end Klipsch (synergy/promedia) and was going to buy a pair of Klipsch for this reason.
  2. I'm still in the process of picking out components for my 2 channel setup. I'm not particularly in a position to just go to a dealer and listen to every setup and choose since there is not really a dealer close to me that keeps a bunch of Klipsch in stock. How much can I base on specs? I notice for example the RF-25s say 45Hz-. Could I not expect much low end punch from them? I wanted to go with a pair of Klipsch floorstanders and either a Marantz PM7200 or NAD C320BEE. I like the fact that the Marantz has a phono stage. What pair of Klipsch speakers would be in the <~500$ price range (cheaper the better)? I'm a college student so I was even looking at Synergy F1s. I was considering trying to get something off audiogon like heresys.
  3. There are many paths you can go. I have a more budget system (college student) so i went with a Pioneer PL-100 from the 70s/80s and a new Gemini cart, Radioshack phono stage. My setup costs 75$ but you could spend a lot more. If you ask at the Vinyl Asylum they'll help you out, too. http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vinyl/bbs.html
  4. That would be nice. I get out from school (Clemson University) around the 2nd week in May, and I will be in the Charlotte, NC area for the summer. This is when I wanted to purchase the speakers and if I could listen to someones with my receiver it would be helpful.
  5. I like my HK AVR 125 receiver a lot. I'm planning on upgrading it to the 4xx early summer. I want to get one off eBay for around the price they are going now so if the 430 is still going for that I will have to check it out.
  6. In regards to matching the Heresy Is with the right amplifier, how might they sound on an HK AVR 125 ( http://www.harmankardon.com/product_support/support_detail.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=∏=AVR%20125&sjump=active ) I won't be using any DSP ("surround" modes) with it, mainly stereo for music just occasionaly movies using dolby. I was going to add in a sub as well. How well matched is this pair? I really want to try the Heritage series, but perhaps the reference series would be better suited for my receiver (RF-25s or 35s)
  7. I am looking at building a 2 ch system using either a pair of used RF-3s or possibly either RF-25s or RF-35s. I listen to mostly college music (student)... Indie rock, hip hop, rock, pop, etc. I plan to get a sub, too, so it would need a sub preamp output. I currently have an HK AVR 125 (55w x 2 or 45w x 5) with a pair of HK B 6 bookshelf speakers. At first I thought about using this receiver with the RF-3s to setup a home theater system for movies/video games. However, I began to think twice and was considering my options for a 2 ch setup. I am trying to choose an amp, not too knowledgeable but I think I want to go the solid-state route for financial reasons. I'm thinking a budget of 300-500$, but I'll spend less if the benefits aren't THAT great for spending 500$ over a 200$ amp.
