  1. I did exactly what you describe on my BBX. Several years ago I had issues with the RCA jacks on the board a couple of different times. Mark was no longer working at the time so I decided to tackle the problem on my own; my solution was as you describe. I made a plate to go across the back to hold RCA jacks, then wired to the board as Mark describes. It caused me some other issues, but overall was a good solution. I can try to find pictures of the work I did, or take new ones. I actually made up 2 plates and only used 1 so I have an extra if someone is interested in doing this mod.
  2. There are lots of transformer cover options out there for pretty cheap. Think of cans to go over, instead of end bells. I think it looks good as is! Good work as usual.
  3. I wonder if he has an adapter for a 1 inch driver?
  4. @seti Iain, do you have more info about your mini punches? I gleaned your website but did not see anything. I like the smooth curve and clean look of yours.
  5. Hey Mark, glad you're back! Add another to the list for the "documentation package" for the Blueberry Extreme.
  6. I agree with this assessment, and will add that I think Mahogany is also the most desirable finish. You should have no trouble selling these if they are not banged up and are in good working order.
  7. So you are using 2 separate Input power transformers? Will they be toroidal like your last build? Sounds like a big, heavy amp! 🙂
  8. I think it is worth more than $549 in parts alone. I personally think 2-3 watts of single ended EL-34 on LS IIs would be magical! If you are in the market for a custom built amp, I don't think you can go wrong at the price.
  9. I just finished collecting parts to build an ST-35 clone. Edcor transformers, PC board, EL84, 12AX7, 12AU7 tubes, parts from Mouser and Digikey. I'm pushing $1K without a chassis yet. So much for budget build! The days of cobbling stuff together like my grandpa did, are over!
  10. I Apologize for asking questions with incorrect terminology. I'll refrain from doing so in the future.
  11. Regarding filament wiring, Is there an argument for parallel wiring as Henry shows vs. series (daisy chaining) the filaments together? I have seen both ways and pondered if series was better to minimize AC wiring lengths. Probably a matter of preference, but I'm enjoying following along and trying to learn.
  12. Another vote for posting pictures. I also feel like this thread should either be pinned here, or moved to the tube forum and amps listed in garage sale as you build them. I'm enjoying this thread, but I don't think garage sale is the right place for a multi-page follow along build thread.
  13. My last order from Edcor was in June and took 2 weeks. Maybe I just got lucky.
  14. Apologies if I missed it, but where are you located?
  15. If you spoke to Steve Deckert and he gave you a suggestion, I would trust that over guys on a speaker forum. He knows what he is talking about.

    First Watt

I also have the J2 because I wanted balanced inputs. I'm very happy with it on my Lowther / Oris horns. It seems like it takes a little bit to warm up. After a few hours of playing the soundstage is holographic if that makes sense.
  17. He builds his own. I just talked to Greg at Axpona.

    AXPONA 2022 CHICAGO

I attended on Sunday. My 1st stop and last stop were the Klipsch room. I was very impressed with the Jubilee. They live up to the hype, which honestly I was pessimistic about. I was disappointed that I missed Roy, he was not there Sunday. They were the 2nd best set up I heard behind the Avantgarde Trio, which given the price difference is quite a feat. I was not able to listen to a couple of the ultra high end rooms like Wynn audio (too crowded) and the Focal Utopias were not playing when I was in there. So from what I did hear, Klipsch did great! I was also very impressed with a room featuring Usher speakers. There was a room set up with a small pair of Devore Fidelity floor standers that blew me away. They were the most impressive speaker for the size. I don't have all of my info with me to provide details. Maybe I'll add more info later. Jeremy
  19. I will be there Sunday. Will the Jubs be on the convention floor or in a room?
  20. You are asking premium money for what you are selling and looking to put as little effort as possible into your sale. I'm not sure what you are expecting.....
  21. As I was typing my "to stay on topic" post, you quoted my post about being lucky not hearing differences. I felt my post was off topic, so I created another one "on topic" with a recent experience. It was not a response to you. I should have just edited my post, but man I really need to get my post count up. Some people post like 300 times a day!
  22. To stay on topic, I last heard a difference between amps a couple of weeks ago when I swapped in a First Watt J2 for a Dynaco ST-70 on my Lowther / Oris horn combo.
