Here is my take. The digital signal is just a tiny electrical signal traveling through the metal traces on the circut boards in side your source. Digital coax is a metal cable, where as optical is plastic, or glass. In order to use optical the tiny electrical signal has to be converted to light in a tiny little converter about the size of a sugar cube. Then after it travels through the optical cable it has to get converted back to an electrical signal again. So my opinion is why go from English to French back to English again, when you can go English, English, English with digital coax. Also the durability issues need to be considered as mentioned before. I don't think there is any noticeable difference in quality of signal transfer, it just comes down to cost, durability, and Rf issues. Oh yeah, I think those Toslink connectors suck compared to RCA. Did I make any sense? These are purely my opinions, so feel free to disagree. Jeremy

B&K amps are an excellent match for RF-7's. I assume you are referring to the Reference 200.7 for the price you are talking. You run a similar speaker arrangement to mine, except I have RB-75's instead of RS-7's. The 200 wpc B&K's are a great high current amp and handle the impedance demands of the RF-7's well. I don't think you would be disappointed. My only advice is to look for a used one, unless new is really important to you. They come up on Audiogon all the time, for about half of the $3000 you are referring to. Good Luck. Jeremy

If your that picky, than get separates and blow away those receivers. Before you say you can't afford it look around. Chris Robinson just posted about a Sunfire 5x400w amp that sold for $1295 on eBay. That amp would make you crap your pants. Good deals can be found on used separates. Jeremy

Nickelback F'in rocks! I usually where earplugs to rock concerts. A cheap set of plugs will bring it down 20-30 db's. To me that just makes for a comfortable listening level. 110 db's for 2 hours kills me ! Jeremy

I really like JVC HD-ILA . It uses same LCOS chip technololgy as Sony SXRD, but is cheaper for a givin size. The new SXRD 1080p is very nice though. I just couldn't afford it. I'm not a big plasma fan. To each their own. Jeremy

It's probably hard to find info because they don't make them anymore. The current top of the line in-wall for the Reference series is the R-5800-W. These are fantastic speakers. I have some in my kitchen, and love them. They sound nearly as good as my RB-75's. I think Klipsch is coming out with THX Ultra in walls. Jeremy

I just wanted to throw in my recent BB story. I was there at Christmas time looking for CD's. I thought i'd go check out the Klipsch. I've never looked closely at the Synergy line. So i'm pulling the grills off the F3's and a salesman comes by. He asks if i've ever heard Klipsch speakers before. I said, "Oh yes! i'm a big fan of Klipsch speakers. I own 15 all together. I have a pair of 1977 Cornwalls and also (4) RF'7's in my home theater." He replies with," so your looking to upgrade then?" I responded "no, but maybe someday i'll have K-horns. Thanks for your help.....bye." I walked away bewildered. I don't know if i've mentioned this before, but i'm not a big an of BB. Unfortunately Media Play just closed and there is not much else around for media. Jeremy

Get an RC-7 while you still can. It will be a huge improvement over your RC-35. Jeremy
