  1. Do you keep your $3000 table saw in the living room, or is your workshop just that nice? [] This project is on my "someday" list with a big 300Hz round tractrix horn on top. Good luck with your build. Jeremy
  2. Scary stuff. I've seen the cars they use to do this. They have a rotating camera on the roof and drive very slow through your neighborhood. When you put in the address of one of my buddies, he is seen standing behind a lawn mower in front of his house, staring at the camera. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING! Jeremy
  3. Hey, I resemble that remark! I admire the work you have put into this Greg. I hope you can sell a few. Jeremy
  4. Put me down for 1500. Do you take Paypal?
  5. That is the S2 improved version you have pictured. There is a fixed and a removable headshell in this type. If you plan to use a nice moving magnet cartridge then the removable headshell version of this type may work. The fixed headshell version is just so darned light. I believe it has an effective mass of 6-6.5 grams. BLECK! If you are going to spend the money on an SME 3009, I would hold out for the early "II" version. Jeremy
  6. Avoid the fixed headshell S2 version because it only mates with high compliance cartridges and that takes you out of the LOMC market all together. Ask me how I know......I own both the early 3009 II and the later 3009 S2 improved. IMO calling the later one "improved" is a bit ironic. Jeremy
  7. The 3009 S2 improved is a no no with the 103-R. It has too low mass. On the other hand the 3009 II is a perfect match for the 103-R. The major difference between the two arms is the counterweight. The S2 has a screw on counterweight. It is short with a large diameter. The 3009 II has a slide on counterweight that is small diameter and long. Also if the 379 you quoted is for an S2 improved, I would run that is pricey, but that is not a bad price for the 3009 II. They bring more money. Look here for the differences in the 3009 arms: http://www.analogue-classics.com/html/sme_3009___3012.html Jeremy
  8. I just drooled on myself and pissed my pants. That is sweeeet. I love JBL stuff from that era. All I have right now is some beat up C-38's with the 030 set-up in them. Your gear always amazes me! Don't neglect us dreamers, keep showing pictures of your awesome gear. Jeremy
  9. Perhaps a little photoshop work is in order to avoid getting this potentially great thread locked. Pete? You da photoshop masta. Jeremy
  10. I heard somewhere along the way and it always stuck with me, that monitors are voiced to be a neutral sounding speaker so as not to add coloration to the sound in a mixing studio or where ever they may be used. This would mean that in general Klipsch speakers, being more forward sounding, would not make good monitors. Take from it what you wish, but that is the way I always have thought it to be. Jeremy
  11. Hey Optical, I bet it was a chore getting that big B&K up on the top shelf. Those bad boys are heavy. Mine is on the bottom shelf for that reason. Beautiful room! Jeremy
  12. Robert Johnson- Hellhound on my trail: I got to keep moving, I got to keep moving Blues falling down like hail, blues falling down like hail Mmm, blues falling down like hail, blues falling down like hail And the day keeps on remindin' me, there's a hellhound on my trail Hellhound on my trail, hellhound on my trail If today was Christmas eve, if today was Christmas eve And tomorrow was Christmas day If today was Christmas eve and tomorrow was Christmas day All I would need is my little sweet rider Just to pass the time away, to pass the time away You sprinkled hot foot powder, mmm, around my door All around my door You sprinkled hot foot powder, all around your daddy's door It keeps me with ramblin' mind rider Every old place I go, every old place I go I can tell the wind is risin', the leaves tremblin' on the tree Tremblin' on the tree I can tell the wind is risin', leaves tremblin' on the tree All I need is my little sweet woman And to keep my company, hey, hey, hey, hey, my company
  13. I'm @ work right now and it's lunch time, but I can't help but think of what i'll be drinking when I get home tonight. Dry Beefeater martini. Just a splash of vermouth, really as long as it is in the same room as the gin that's close enough. Drop in a couple of jalapeno stuffed olives and i'm set. After about 3 of these even a Bose Wave Radio starts to sound good! After all, TGIF! Jeremy
  14. Oh man Pete, my side are still hurting from the laughing after seeing that pic. Looks like you put a little work into that. I've been on the fence with this project. I've had this table for about 5 years paid $150 for it. It's really in good shape, just needed going through. The original paint was pretty decent, it just had a couple of chips around the speed controller that really bothered me. I waffled back and forth on going this route. There are just so many nice original appearing TD-124's out there that I just finally decided to be different. I'm sure some purists won't like what I have in the works. With the recent increase in popularity and value of these tables it was a tough call, but I just decided to make me happy. While I don't think i'll take it quite as far as you rendition, it will be quite a departure from stock. Jeremy
  15. Wow, talk about patiently awaiting a response! Almost 6 years since you wrote that original post. Sorry, no idea about the value, but there are some pro audio gurus who will respond. Welcome back! Jeremy
  16. I just got this back from the body shop! I'm finally at the turning point where it's going back together! The Mercedes Benz silver metallic TD-124 is going to get pimped out with an SME 3009 and Zu audio DL-103 all mounted in a custom Mahogany heavy plinth and trimmed with some PBL's. More to come! Jeremy
  17. Guns and Roses- Appetite For Destruction New reissue 180 gm vinyl. (off center and chipped edge) [] Jeremy
  18. Congrats Joe! My daughter is about to turn 5 and my son about to turn 10. Every day they challenge me to be a better person, every day! Enjoy this moment while you can because man, it sure does go by fast. Jeremy
  19. RF-7 surrounds would be the best match for your RF-7 mains. Albiet a bit of overkill there is no better timbre match. Mine are up against the back wall but toed in slightly. They sound fine to me. There is not alot of information being reproduce by them anyway when you are watching movies or tv. Maybe a liilte more when watching concerts or DVD-A and SACD. I really like it. RB-75's seem to bring a fair amount of money on the used market. They have the same tweeter as the RF-7. For my taste I would not use a lesser floorstander because they don't share any of the same drivers. YMMV. Jeremy
  20. RB-75's make excellent surrounds for RF-7 mains. Better than RS-7's IMO. I ran them for a very short time until I switched to RF-7's for the rear. I don't think you will go wrong upgrading from the RS-7's. Jeremy
  21. Boy, that will give you goosebumps. Those girls are amazing. Jeremy
  22. Any idea what the price for all the components was? I've been wanting to do this for a couple of years, but have so many other projects i've just never got around to it. In the mean time copper product prices have been on a steady incline and the cost of this build has increased quite a bit. Jeremy
  23. Do you still have the TD124 with the SME 3012? Just wondering if this was in addition to that one or replaced it. Some of you guys go through so much gear it's hard to keep up [] I'm in the middle of rebuilding my TD124. I'll post a teaser pic when the chassis gets back from the body shop. Hey Pete i've been meaning to ask you about Vito & Nick's on Pulaski. Is that near you. I saw it on Diners, Drive-Ins, &Dives last month. Looks like a place I need to check out. Jeremy
