Has anyone done a plate across the back for the rca ins/outs? That way only two holes need to be drilled in the chassis...? I'd like something like this that looks like it's stock.

I did exactly what you describe on my BBX. Several years ago I had issues with the RCA jacks on the board a couple of different times. Mark was no longer working at the time so I decided to tackle the problem on my own; my solution was as you describe. I made a plate to go across the back to hold RCA jacks, then wired to the board as Mark describes. It caused me some other issues, but overall was a good solution. I can try to find pictures of the work I did, or take new ones. I actually made up 2 plates and only used 1 so I have an extra if someone is interested in doing this mod.

Mahogany is pretty rare in the KLF series.  If the condition is 8/10 or higher and all drivers work I’d give a range of $750-1000.

I agree with this assessment, and will add that I think Mahogany is also the most desirable finish. You should have no trouble selling these if they are not banged up and are in good working order.

If you don't mind push-pull and PC boards, the PC board used by Audio Note https://ankaudiokits.com/product-category/el84-amps/ and tubes4hifi http://www.tubes4hifi.com/ST35.htm is available as a bare board https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256801585807617.html.

I just finished collecting parts to build an ST-35 clone. Edcor transformers, PC board, EL84, 12AX7, 12AU7 tubes, parts from Mouser and Digikey. I'm pushing $1K without a chassis yet. So much for budget build! The days of cobbling stuff together like my grandpa did, are over!

The words series or parallel are very specific. If one reads them in the description or instructions, the definitions need to be very clear to everyone involved.

I Apologize for asking questions with incorrect terminology. I'll refrain from doing so in the future.

  5. Regarding filament wiring, Is there an argument for parallel wiring as Henry shows vs. series (daisy chaining) the filaments together? I have seen both ways and pondered if series was better to minimize AC wiring lengths. Probably a matter of preference, but I'm enjoying following along and trying to learn.

  6. Another vote for posting pictures. I also feel like this thread should either be pinned here, or moved to the tube forum and amps listed in garage sale as you build them. I'm enjoying this thread, but I don't think garage sale is the right place for a  multi-page follow along build thread.

  7. I also have the J2 because I wanted balanced inputs. I'm very happy with it on my Lowther / Oris horns. It seems like it takes a little bit to warm up. After a few hours of playing the soundstage is holographic if that makes sense.

  8. I attended on Sunday. My 1st stop and last stop were the Klipsch room. I was very impressed with the Jubilee. They live up to the hype, which honestly I was pessimistic about. I was disappointed that I missed Roy, he was not there Sunday. They were the 2nd best set up I heard behind the Avantgarde Trio, which given the price difference is quite a feat. I was not able to listen to a couple of the ultra high end rooms like Wynn audio (too crowded) and the Focal Utopias were not playing when I was in there. So from what I did hear, Klipsch did great! I was also very impressed with a room featuring Usher speakers. There was a room set up with a small pair of Devore Fidelity floor standers that blew me away. They were the most impressive speaker for the size. I don't have all of my info with me to provide details. Maybe I'll add more info later.

Here are the pics of Mr. Klipsch signature, they were on strips that I can apply to the speakers.

IMO, this is not the same as having Klipschorns signed by PWK. We have seen info labels on speakers signed by PWK. This not the same to me and would add no value. This would have the same value to me as a PWK signed cocktail napkin. Cool story for you to share though.

Glad I wasted my time posting pics for all you tire kickers

You are asking premium money for what you are selling and looking to put as little effort as possible into your sale. I'm not sure what you are expecting.....

I wasn't talking about you, I mean anyone. And that is on topic.

As I was typing my "to stay on topic" post, you quoted my post about being lucky not hearing differences. I felt my post was off topic, so I created another one "on topic" with a recent experience. It was not a response to you. I should have just edited my post, but man I really need to get my post count up. Some people post like 300 times a day!
