  1. Man, I had the opposite problem. I wanted cherry, but had to settle for "in stock" black to get a good deal. I'll trade you if you have 4 unopened cherry RF-7's. Good luck, Jeremy
  2. This is a LFE (low frequency effect) driver set-up. These are also made by Aura and called Bass Shakers. What they do is reproduce low frequencies without a speaker. I believe it is a servo. You mount this thing under your floor, or your couch or chair, and it reproduces the low freq's so that you feel them without the SPL required to feel them when produced by a sub. It's just tricking your mind into thinking that your sub is very effective. I personally like these and I would like to get that set-up in the future. This auction scares me a bit, because it seems so cheap. My local dealer wants $600 for that same set-up. The amp that comes with that set-up can power up to 4 "shakers" I believe. I'm going to keep an eye on that auction as well. It seems too good to be true. Jeremy
  3. I have been frequenting that website also. I've learned alot about HTPC. It looks like a great option, especially for DVR capabilites. Although to my dissapointment, it doesn't look like it's yet possible to record Dish Network. Maybe by the time I start buying components, it will be available. Looks like a great way to store and playback music and movies, and "back-up" the DVD's I like when Netflix sends them. Jeremy
  4. My wife and I have alot of copper accents around the house. We love the warm color of copper. That increases the WAF for the RF-7's. We have outdoor lights in the yard and on the house made of copper. I made ballasters for the front porch out of rigid copper water pipe. I have used copper sheet for accents on posts, and it will be used in our Home theater wall unit, and bar for accent trim. I have worked with it quite a bit, and found that if you don't want the natural patina to come out you can seal it. All you need to do is polish it to the desired sheen and spray some flat clear lacquer on it. This will slow the natural color change by about 90%. This is what I plan to do with the spikes I make. Mine are on a laminate wood floor, so I'm thinking of using pennies, or making up some kind of "coin" for the spike to seat in. I still think copper is the way to go, appearence wise. I may even make new "penguin feet" out of copper. Wonder how that would look? Jeremy
  5. I'm thinking about buying some round copper bar stock, and spinning up some of my own. I can do it on a lathe at work in my spare time. I think copper spikes would look sweet on the Reference series speakers. I'll need 16 of them for the RF-7's though. That will take a little time. I'll post some pics if I ever get around to it. Jeremy

  7. I have both and honestly I think they sound very similar. I think the mids are smoother on the Corn, but still great on the 7's. Other than that, I would have a hard time telling them apart blindfolded. Okay maybe not, but in my case, they are so close in sound, i'd go with the 7's. Based on the fact that they are new, easier to move, easier to aquire, and have a smaller footprint. Your not giving up much with either one. Jeremy

Shame, the Maple was beautiful. How long until everything is made in China and vinylclad. Ugh. Michael ---------------- I even had this problem with Cherry. My dealer didn't stock RF-7's in cherry, so they would have to special order them. That meant no good deals on my end. I had to settle for black in order to get a great price. Jeremy
  9. Alright, well I finally got over to American TV today. The guy I have worked with recently doesn't work there anymore. That's a problem with these big chain stores. So I took with me a big stack of reciepts for purchases I have made over the last 5 years. We built a new house a couple years ago and bought all our appliances there, bought a camcorder, last couple tv's, things like that. I just wanted to prove that i'm a loyal customer, since noone works there long enough to remember you. Anyway big sale prices are as follows: Normal price sale price RF-7 $999 $799 RC-7 $750 $594 AW-525 $199 $149 These were OK prices, but not what I was hoping for. Also they only had black, but they could special order Cherry which is what I want. I already have RB-75's in Cherry which I plan to use for surrounds and i'm just not a big fan of black. I told them that was more than I wanted to pay and I don't like black. We haggled for a while and I showed him that I am a loyal customer and that i'm paying with cash. I also told him if the price was right, I would buy (4) RF-7's. So here's what I ended up buying: (4) RF-7's $699 ea. (1) RC-7 $499 (4) AW-525 $125 ea. (for the deck and patio) I'm pretty happy with the price I paid, but upset that I settled for black. They wouldn't budge on $799 for special order cherrys, oh well. You won't be able to see them with the lights, in the theater room, turned down anyway. I also bought a 70" JVC H-DILA projection TV for $800 off the normal price. It will all be delivered next Thursday. My room isn't quite ready for drywall yet, so the stuff will sit for a while until i'm done, but what a great motivator. I probably have to hook a couple RF-7's up to the B&K for something to listen to while I finish the room. Anyway thanx to all for the advice I have received thus far, and will surely need in the future. Thanx for reading, Jeremy
  10. Since were off topic, IMO there are only 2 kinds of beer. Warm and cold. I'll take either one if it's free , but if i'm paying, it better be cold! Jeremy
  11. I just got mine yesterday. It's very nice.I'm going back to school in the fall (after 10 years off) and needed a new back pack anyway. I noticed Klipsch selling them in the gear section of the website, so I ordered one. Just wondered if anyone else has seen them or got one yet. Now we just need some more appearal and maybe the plaques again! Thanx Klipsch. Jeremy
  12. I haven't watched it, so I can't comment on the content. However I feel it is a travisty to call the band INXS with anyone other than Micheal Hutchins. If the remaining members of the band want to start a new band call it something else. IMWO the name INXS should be left as it was. Not many bands have been able to pull this off with same name. Only ones that come to mind are AC/DC, Lynard Skynard. I'm sure there are more ,but in this case LEAVE IT ALONE. Sorry for the rant, Jeremy
  13. I'd risk it for only $199, maybe even two. Unfortunately i've wasted money on much less quality than Klipsch. I'd take a chance. JMWO Jeremy

I wouldn't get my hopes up of scoring a pair of new RF-7's for $1000-$1200. I hope you can and if you do please let us know. Two things to consider are: 1) I bet the sale has to do with "in stock" items--Make sure they have the RF-7's in stock and 2) If you can get them between $1400 and $1600 you will be getting a steal!!!!!! Good luck ---------------- I'm not saying that dealer cost and employee price are the same, if that's what you are implying. To clerify, their employee price is cost + 1/2 of the normal mark up. I was curious if anyone knows approx dealer cost (which I understand may vary), so that I can figure what the mark up is. RF-7 $1000-dealer cost= mark up. Mark up divided by 2 + dealer cost= my price. I can find out tomarrow, i'm just impatient and always want to be informed, and well armed when trying to make a deal. Thanx for your time, Jeremy
  15. I'm hoping they mark up Klipsch alot. If I can get the RF-7's in the $550-$600 range i'll buy 4 instead of the 2 i'm planning on. I don't expcect that to happen though. I've been waiting for this sale for a while. I'm gonna walk in with a big wad of cash, and hope it will motivate them to do even better. Sale runs 7/10-7/16 for anyone interested, American TV stores are located throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconson. Wish me Luck! <> Jeremy
  16. My local Reference dealer is American TV. They are a mega electronics, appliance, furniture store. Anyway next week they are having a big sale where they sell at employee price, which they say is 50% off the mark up. They sell RF-7 for $999 a piece. RC-7 for $750. I'd like to know what their cost is roughly, so I know how much they are marking them up. I know RF-7's can be had for $800 a piece elsewhere, no problem. So if they are marking them up 40%, then employee price is $800. Decent deal, but not the screaming deal i'm looking for. I'll probably finally buy the new TV anyway. Leaning toward JVC DILA 70" Any help with Reference dealer cost, is much appreciated. Jeremy
  17. He was trying to sell them complete a few weeks ago. One speaker was missing a tweeter and he claimed they sounded great. We all bombarded him then. I assume that's why he is now selling parts, albeit misrepresented parts. Jeremy
  18. Baby Einstein is great! My 17 month old daughter loves that stuff. I like it because there are alot worse things she could be watching. Jeremy
  19. They are all over eBay right now. Just don't outbid me on the verticals Jeremy

  23. Not trying to hijack, but does anyone know where I can get this kind of grill cloth? Jeremy
  24. "Check out the pic with the K-Horns. What's wrong with this pic?" I think the problem is that his TV is too small Jeremy
