  1. Thanks for the help, I unattached the speaker wire, and the problem seems to be gone. I guess things tend to work right when you hook them up correctly huh? [:$] The good thing is, that in fixing this I got to change a couple settings on my reciever at the same time. thanks for the help. Now I just have to find the right level... you know the one that shakes the walls, but is just shy of cracking the windows []
  2. It would be more of a hum... but I do have both the low and high level inputs hooked up. I thought that's how it was supposed to be hooked up Supposing that's the problem I'd like to understand the difference between and advantages of each connection. EDIT: As a quick test I unplugged the low level input to see if the problem continued and it did still happen
  3. I need some help setting up my sub 12. I've had it for a few months now, but never got the settings right where I want them. I get the gain set right where I want it, but when I turn my system off I get feedback problems. It starts as a real low, quiet feedback and gets louder and then stay constant until I go turn the gain down on the sub. It's got to be something wrong with my setup. My initial thought was the auto/on switch. I checked and it's set to auto, so the sub should be turning itself off when I turn my system off. I'll run down my settings in case that is helpful. I know this is probably simple but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. One other thing that I thought was wierd is that if I drop something on the floor and stomp, you can hear the sub give off a low ring. Sounds like it's definitely not turning itself off, but why not... Gain = 50% approx Lowpass = 100 Approx Phase = 0 Sub cable from my reciever plugged in to left/LFE, and speaker wire running through my high level in/out
  4. I was very excited as a guy had listed what I thought was a pair of SS.5's for $50. I called him up, left a message wanting to jump on them cause I know they are older, but that's a good price still... When he calls back he threw me for a loop. It is only 1 speaker. I didn't know what to say. He mentioned someone else was interested (sales tactic?, I didn't want to let this get by as I want to update my crappy surrounds) In a rush decision I told him I would take it. It's not quite the deal I thought I was getting, but still not a bad deal judging from prices on ebay. The only problem will be finding one to match. NOW for my question. Would this speaker work as a center channel? My current center is from a HTIAB system, so anything would be an upgrade. Other wise I suppose I could upgrade one surround now and start looking for the other. Thanks for the help.
  5. I read most of this thread, and saw lots of complaints of BB not having Klipsch set up right, and this and that, so I thought I would give my experience/thoughts. Someone previously made a good comment that any display in a retail store is difficult to maintain because you have Joe Customer coming in thinking he knows what audio should sound like messing with the settings, or some kid who thinks he's funny cranking it so that the store next door can hear it. My local BB in Independence MO has a display with a nice HDTV, and I have sat there and killed time (waiting for dinner reservations) and I must say I think they have it sounding pretty good. I just wish BB, or some other store around me carried the reference line, and I'd probably go sit there more often. Now I feel that I've said a lot of positive things about BB, so let me just say BB sucks. (personal opinion) I'm not some BB advocate, just have to give credit where credit is due.
  6. We are interested... how much depends on your price.
  7. I haven't heard anyone say this yet, and I am surprised... The Aquos have an awesome picture to them. They are a great tv, with a good contrast ratio as well. The SXRD's are also great tv's with great picture.
  8. Also if you are deleting files off a network drive (not your local C drive) then the recycle bin is bypassed. Just a thought.
  9. Thanks guys, it's good to hear all these positive responses. It sounds like as soon as I can save up the money I will be picking up the sub12.
  10. It's so hard to list just one Metallica - One Slipknot - Sic Mudvayne - Silenced
  11. Thanks for the reply to this post guys. I started having the same problem, and I was getting ready to switch out the reciever with a spare one my brother has, but after reading this thread I am going to go through and redo some wiring. Some of my wires were too short anyway and I was stretching it to make the connection. Maybe I can try this within the next day or two.
  12. Thanks for the reply. That's good to know as the Sub-12 is more in the budget. I wouldn't mind hearing a few more opinions. Anybody who actually has either the sub-12 or the RSW-12 want to chime in?
  13. Ok, I have updated my system profile. Hope it is descriptive enough. Let me know if any more info is needed, and I appreciate any help.
  14. I have Rf-35's currently, and don't really have $1000 to drop on a nice reference sub. My question is, with the mains that I have, would I be happy with a sub-12 (the synergy series sub from best buy)? I hear a lot of people say negative things about the sub-12 (only in comparison to the reference line) but it's a big jump to go up to an RSW 12.
