  1. Below are the messages I sent to this seller. While he has failed to reply, notice the evolution of his listing titles below. He has also revised his listing description text and pictures after receiving my messages, but is now intentionally being dishonest. ============================================================================================= First Pair (eBay Item #200505295305) ============================================================================================= Initial Message Sent: Thursday, August 5, 2010 9:43 PM PDT Subject: eBay Item #200505295305 - 2 KLIPSCH MWM 545-W5 & MSM THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM RARE Dear salesbaron1, Just so you know, the MWM are WOOFER SECTIONS and the MSM is the SQUAWKER SECTION (midrange). The 545-W.5 Woofer Section was not made by Klipsch and is redundant. You are missing the Klipsch MMTM or MTM TWEETER ARRAYS, MSSM - MID-BASS SECTIONS, and M-4 HIGH LEVEL CROSSOVERS. ============================================================================================= Follow-up Sent: Sunday, August 15, 2010 5:25 AM PDT Subject: eBay Item #200505295305 - 2 KLIPSCH MMTM MCM M3B MSM THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM RARE Dear salesbaron1, While I have never before seen anyone stack the crossover in with the speaker cabinets before, I am glad to see you finally got this 3-way set advertised properly. ============================================================================================= ============================================================================================= Second Pair (eBay Item #190428054579) ============================================================================================= Initial Message Sent: Friday, August 06, 2010 2:20 PM PDT Subject: eBay Item #190428054579 - 2 KLIPSCH A-43-E K-43E 545-S MWM THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM Dear salesbaron1, Why do you have this advertised as a Klipsch when four of the six cabinets were manufactured by HPS in Newton MA? ============================================================================================= Follow-up Sent: Sunday, August 15, 2010 5:03 AM PDT Subject: eBay Item #190428054579 - 2 KLIPSCH A-43-E MMTM MSM MSSM THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM Dear salesbaron1, Your statement that they cost $30,000 is fraud! As you very well know, FULL LIST PRICE was only $4940/pair for the 3-way and $6225/pair for the 4-way system. Your listing description and pictures are both inconstant. Your listing description states that Klipsch MMTM, Klipsch MSM,and Klipsch MSSM are included. Your top picture only shows Klipsch MMTM and Klipsch MSM. Your picture http://www.salesbaron.net/f/MV76.jpg shows MWM is included. The HPS (high performance stereo) stuff usually makes good firewood. You should remove the non-Klipsch junk and advertise these truthfully. =============================================================================================

  5. That certainly excludes Paul W. Klipsch (see Dope from Hope Volume 17, number 1, March 1978) and Roger Russell (engineer at McIntosh) http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm.
  6. As you may know, the Belle Klipsch was a compromise that Paul Klipsch made for his wife Belle (hence the model name) because he wanted a center speaker to use between two Klipschorn speakers to reproduce live symphony music in his living room. What he did was take and modify the La Scala PA speaker to create the Belle Klipsch. Since the center channel carries almost no lower frequency programming, a PA speaker was perfect for this use and the Belle Klipsch with its cloth grills (that the La Scala did not have) met the approval of his wife for use in their home. The down side was that the Klipschorn/La Scala K-400 midrange horn was shortened to make the cabinet 5” shallower (once again, cosmetics over performance controlled the design to please his wife) and as a result the Belle Klipsch K-500 horn limits the midrange to 500 Hz. The first thing you may have noticed when you listened to the Belle Klipsch speakers is that they are notoriously weak in the bottom end as compared to most other Klipsch speakers because they fall off so quickly below 100 Hz and require a subwoofer for home theater or music to get the full sound spectrum. Since the Belle Klipsch has been in production since 1971, many different configurations of this speaker exist and depending on the exact year and model Belle Klipsch, this may be even more pronounced. The reason for this is simply that the Belle Klipsch was designed as a Public Address system speaker used in an area much larger than found in most homes. Since the Belle Klipsch is a Public Address system speaker intended to amplify speech, it does not need to go as low as music or cinema to accurately reproduce voices. Many of the more modern looking speakers like the Klipsch Forte II and Klipsch Chorus II will easily outperform the Belle Klipsch in home stereo and Home theater applications, and take up far less floor space. For the same reason, I am not a big fan of the La Scala. As far as my favorite Klipsch speakers, they are like children, I love them all for different reasons, but I must say that my Klipschorn speakers are at the top of the list. Nothing I have ever heard can compete with the Klipschorn when fed by a good clean high-powered amplifier.
  7. Are you sure Bill? 574-870-8563 is a Monticello Indiana cellular/PCS phone number. While they were listed three other times (with a different Monticello Indiana PCS phone number 574-808-9941), 2-9-08 on the Tippecanoe Craigslist, 2-13-08 on the Indianapolis Craigslist, and 2-14-08 on the San Diego Craigslist (see below), it appears to me that since there is no Monticello, IN Craigslist that he listed these on two other local area Craigslist locations and perhaps the Craigslist where he is moving as referenced in his listing. After getting no response in February, it seems he listed them yesterday on the Chicago Craigslist, presumably due to population in hopes he will attract that one buyer willing to pay his high price. Other ads posted with the same 574-808-9941 phone number reference selling an old skating rink at 725 W Fisher St in Monticello Indiana, a huge garage sale at the same location, a car, houses, and a 454 engine for sale, all consistent with a person moving out of state. One thing is for sure, if these sell for $4k, he will have gotten to use these for 24 years for free, since they retailed for less than that in 1984. 8. Woke up from a deep sleep dreaming I was surrounded by dozens of pairs of Klipsch speakers and no matter where in my home or garage I ran I could not escape the wonderful sound of booming Rock 'N Roll music through Klipsch speakers. After I woke up completely, I realized that I really was surrounded by dozens of pairs of Klipsch speakers booming wonderful Rock 'N Roll music.
  9. If you study this forum for a while, you will learn that the best years for all Klipsch Heritage Series speaker cabinets including the Cornwall model were those cabinets manufactured between mid 1977 and 1982 due to their superior craftsmanship, materials, & more attractive furniture grade cabinetry and fine hardwood veneers. Prior to mid-1977 (when Klipsch started using the much higher-quality void-free Baltic Birch solid lumbercore plywood which was vastly superior acoustically), Klipsch just used standard-grade Fir plywood for cabinet construction. Furthermore, the drivers and especially the crossovers Klipsch installed during this same time period were the best to date, especially those with the AlNiCo magnet drivers. You may notice that almost all of the 29 matched pairs of Klipsch Heresy, Cornwall, La Scala, and Klipschorn speakers I currently own are 1982 and older (and they all would be if it were not for three $50.00 pairs of 1983-1985 model Heresy speakers, a mint pair of 1984 Oak Cornwall with Cane grills for $250.00, and 1989 KB-WL Klipschorn pair for $700.00).
  10. Asking price seems high for a pair of 1984's since they will have the dreaded Type AK-2 crossovers, but the veneer is interesting. chicago craigslist > city of chicago > electronics One of a KIND Klipsch Horn Speaker - $4000 Reply to: see below Date: 2008-04-04, 7:36PM CDT These Speakers are very rare. 11. I understood that all Atlas PD5-VH were exactly the same as the old style K-55-V spring-loaded (one-piece phase plug). Are you saying Atlas PD5-VH drivers manufactured in NJ have the two-piece phase plug?
  12. I know someone else with "Lifestyle" in a user name. Please fill me in, how is that fraud? I agree that contacting the poor buyers is against eBay policy, which is why I posted here in hopes they would discover the scam before they paid. I sure feel sorry for them, one paid over $95.00 with shipping.
  13. Until just now, I assumed that everyone had seen through the false advertising in the following three eBay auctions that end just over an hour from now. However seeing them bid to over $75.00 including shipping already, I thought I should warn unsuspecting bidders that the "5.7 ohm" Eminence 15 inch drivers for sale in the above eBay auctions are most definitely NOT Klipsch K-33-E Woofers. All Klipsch K-33-E drivers are 4 ohm drivers that measure about 3.2 ohms DCR, not 5.7 ohms. Also, the square magnet on Klipsch K-33-E measure 5.9 inches, not 5.1 inches like the generic Eminence 15-inch drivers he is trying to pass off as Klipsch K-33-E drivers. Even though I informed the seller, he has failed to correct his listings. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180224730179 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180224731669 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180224731756 .
  14. To hear him tell it, Paul Klipsch was an amateur compared to this guy. My guess is that he was not even born yet when Paul patented the Klipschorn and Klipsch balancing network. Who needs an anechoic chamber when all you have to do is the math? . I knew amplifiers could be more powerful, but never knew that speakers could be. Note that he claims that his require 50 watts minimum. Klipsch Klipschorn speakers only require 1 watt. . email this posting to a friend new york craigslist > brooklyn > electronics please flag with care: miscategorized prohibited spam/overpost best of craigslist Avoid scams and fraud by dealing locally! More info 3 Custom Klipschorns - $4000 Reply to: sale-614926252@craigslist.org Date: 2008-03-22, 1:59PM EDT NO CASHIERS CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS My name is Nicky Siano, and I am best known as the original DJ from Studio 54. In addition, I owned a club from 1972-1978 called THE GALLERY. Many considered the Gallery the template for all clubs which came after, certainly the Paradise Garage and Studio 54 bore uncanny resemblense to The Gallery, if you wish more info on that subject you can visit www.nickysiano.com. While owning and DJing at the Gallery I designed the first crossover to seperately control tweeters and bass horns. I built the first set of folded bass horns and many other club sound system designs. I worked with the best sound men, Alex Rosner and Richard Long. I learned sound not by ear, BUT BY MATH, because sound is all MATH. When I first heard KLIPSCHORN corner speakers, I immediately realized the unique design gave the speaker a far superior sound reproduction capability. But I did not like the sound of the tin horn that was used on the top end. Two years ago I had the oppurtunity to design and built my very own Klipschorns. The bottom was perfection, so I left everything about the low end exactly the same, accept I used heavier wood and a much better driver. I used a driver from 18 Sound, the 15ND930 a high power, high output, low frequency 15" woofer Neodymium transducer. I have pictured the speaker below and will add the specs later in the description. I was never happy with the top end sound of the original Klipschorns, so I designed an open sweeping cabinet which holds 2 8" 8CX21 BC sound coaxial transducer. These are all class A audio components, a much higher quality then Klipsch uses in there corner speakers. And if that wasn't enough, i crowned each of these magnificent sound birds with a JBL high frequency tweeter. And to put all the pieces in order, i added passive crossovers in each cabinet. My sound man Danny Proseda and measured the frequency response and we beat the 33Hz-17kHz range of the Klipschorn at both ends. Our speaker is more powerful, and more durable built for club use, highly efficent they can be driven with as little as 50 watts, but can handle as much as 150 watts. The speakers stand 4 ft 6 inches and weigh 275 pounds each. For club use we built rises to raise the top ends over peoples heads, they are included and add an additional 2 foot of height. Also included a re the high quality Belkin cables you see in the pictures. The pictures include a look into the back or the corner folded horn, a look at the door which opens to change the driver, a look at the top end sweeps without the scrim covering, and all three speakers set up as they were meant to be. It was designed to have a left, right and center channell, the center top a little larger and higher to compensate for sound levels. These speakers were meant to stand in corners, but can be used free standing if you wish to add wood corners onto the cabinet, which many people do. Yes, they might need a paint job if you wish them to look pristine, but again, these speakers were used a total of ten times, so they are practically new. You can pick them up, or I can ship them world wide, but shipping for these heavy cabinets is not cheap. Considering one Klipschorn costs $4000, you can have three for that price, so the large chunk of shipping still makes this auction a STEEL. I never wanted to sell these, but I can no longer store them in my home, and I do not wish to put them in a cold storage unit. Here are the driver specs. BC Sound 8" 8CX21 Nominal Diameter 210 mm (8 in) Nominal Impedance 8 ohm Minimum Impedance 6.1 ohm (LF) 7.2 ohm (HF) Frequency Range 75-20000 Hz Dispersion Angle 100° LF Unit Sensitivity (1W/1m) 94 dB Nominal Power Handling 200 W Continuous Power Handling 400 W Voice Coil Diameter 52 mm (2 in) Winding Material Copper HF Unit Sensitivity (1W/1m) 101 dB Nominal Power Handling 25 W Continuous Power Handling 50 W Voice Coil Diameter 36 mm (1.4 in) Winding Material Aluminium Diaphragm Material Mylar Recom. Crossover 2.2 kHz 18 Sound Woofer The 15ND930 is a high power, high output, low frequency woofer which meets the most stringent requirements in high quality professional transducers. The high level of performance and sound quality have been achieved by exploiting the most advanced technologies available today. The neodymium magnet assembly developed by Eighteen Sound engineers assures high flux concentration, low power compression and excellent heat exchange, since the external magnet configuration is considerably more efficient than traditional under-pole magnet topology. This results in high levels of force factor and power handling with an optimum power to weight ratio. The direct contact between the large heat sink and basket, together with the magnetic structure, represent a fundamental improvement in thermal connection and heat dissipation. Hence, power handling capabilities are increased and power compression lowered. The deep profile curvilinear cone, created from a special high strength wood pulp, has been designed to achieve the best possible linearity within its frequency range. The cone surround, made from a linen material is highly resistant to aging and fatigue. The in-house developed cone treatment is a humidity repellent and significantly dampens bell mode resonances. The 75mm edge-wound state-of-the-art voice coil assembly is wound on a strong fiberglass former to improve force transmission and power handling. The already low distortion and sound quality are further improved by Double Demodulating Rings (DDR) that flatten impedance and phase with a constant power transfer. Thanks to its versatility, the 15ND930 can be used in 2-way compact reflex enclosures with a 1.4" compression driver, in multiway systems and in high loading sub woofers as small as 70 lt (compact reflex, bandpass and horn loaded configurations). A special coating applied to both the top and back plates makes the 15ND930 far more resistant to the corrosive effects of salts and oxidization. I COULD NOT FIT ALL THE PICTURES, SO IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED AND WISH TO SEE THE FULL SET OF PICS, E MAILS ME AND I WILL FORWARD THEM TO YOU.
