  1. Where are u located looking for ls cabinates I'm in s fla with a pair I may part with
  2. Bird was a pic I took 10 yrs ago right place right time. My last speakers were diy lascalas in pomelle sapelli. And for my 40th b day I requested an apliance dolly cause I knew what the future had in store. I ran the lascallas for the last 6 years the dbx really brought them to life made them sound more natural never tried the dbx with the stock horn though.
  3. Here is a screenshot of the dbx venu360 auto eq that was applied. Grey is what the room is with no eq applied. The little green line is the response of the room after the eq is applied. I have a few things I can try to see if the tweeter is failing at this end or not just haven't got to that point for testing but is sounds good. If sounds good but test bad find a new way to test right. Lol
  4. Just had to share this build. I started it at the beginning of the year with the horn build and ended up with a sealed dual 15 low end. I threw out the smaller dual 12 ported cab I started because I knew where my heart was. This set up is a complete hodge podge set up of parts I had but it does sound damn good to my ears just a little lacking at the very high end 14k on up its like 6db down next post graph will show. Eminence 4015lf definmax K55m mated to a 2in horn yuchi a290 no fins never got that far. Crites tweeter apt50 Alk es500 and es4500 All processed through dbx venu360 into evq66 amp. Full right side weighs in at 306lbs the cab alone is approx 200. The cab is a solid dual layer 13ply baltic birch. Inside is also 1.5in egg crate foam lined and 2.5in on the back panel. The cab is covered in formic a 9012-nt ebony naturelle.
  5. man you got my mind thinking on these hf10ak I like the idea alot about using different horns on these too. these specs look nice too. definitely a contender if not the one lol. thx for the 0.02
  6. Google yuichi's audio lab his plans are on there for download as with many others
  7. I made a jig from a picture I saw online and figured it all out from there. the jig is a wall peice of art in the garage hanging on the wall
  8. new a290 diy horn on top of my diy pomelle sapelli lascallas and my new dual 12 ported cab in recon wenge with baltic birch accents to match horn. cab is 1.5 thick everywhere and 30.25x30.25 x20.5 with 3.25 in tall feet 6 in wide by 5 in deep
  9. it's a simple question with many opinions, which tweeter. some of the ones I'm considering are but open to suggestions. beyma cp25 fostex t90a b&c de10 b&c de120 de110 crites ct125 the only one I have is the ct125 for my new project but on paper I really like the fostex t90a. my project is a dual 12 either k22, crites replacement k22 if k22 sounds good, dual heresy 3 woofers or dual eminence kappalite 3012lf. I have these three to test in one cab. it is ported possible tune 30 hz ish and approx 6.9 cu ft if memory correct. mid horn is currently klipsch k55m mated to yuichi a290 horn built myself out of baltic birch ply. it may not be the best driver with my makeshift adapter to it but it is a major improvement over the k400 horn. if u could run any tweeter purely for best clear beautiful highs what would u run not looking for harsh. my tweeter does not need to me mounted to any current motor board since there is none. open to ideas and suggestions. I know all of you have had experience with many of these with maybe exception of the fostex and it may be the most pricey but I have to change my mind on this cause I have spent 500 for a pair of tweeters for my car and love em dearly but always hesitant to spend that for the home, I must be dumb, lol. need the home to sound right. thanks for the answers.and at some point I will post some pics of what I got going one speaker is drying in polyurethane as I wright this and other is in prices.
  10. long time member here been gone for a while but have some questions. my current system is diy pomelle sapelli lascallas crites cast woofers crites at50 tweeter? I belive correct and factory mid 55m and alk es400 es4000. I just got done making yuichi a290 horns and have the k55m on them with an adapter and the ringing sound and honking sound is gone from the k400 so it sounds better more airy and open, read that befor but didn't belive it could. the autoformer taps still trying to find the right spot not sure yet but seem to need brighter than what was set on k400. now I can hear the negative sound resonance from the horn lows. I'm thinking about building a new low cabinet using emenince kappalite 3012lf 2 per cab but really thinking 4 per cab prob ported but not sure yet plus the looks would be cool as can be with 4 each side. what pair or foursome of 12s would you recomend? is it normal when using a 1 in driver on a 2 in horn to have to increase the sound to balance it ? also would the kappalite be able to be used in a jubilee for future reference
  11. I need to know the opening size for the mid horn on the LS 1, the cutout size height and width. also how tall the the srtip of wood is under the mid just befor the doghouse. I ask this cause im too busy to go to my storage shed to mesure mine and when i built mine i remember makeing it the wrong width from the plans i had but cant remember if it was user error or plan error. thanks much in advance
  12. Beyerdynamic is what ive found most sites to say are one of the best but ive never heard them, but i can tell you that i love my ultrasone pro-750 set that i have. first time i put them on and tried som songs trough them i absoultly fell in love with the sound. clean natural voices beautiful highs ans nice low end. Of course this is all depending on how well the music was recorded.
  13. Here is my thoughts and I could be very well wrong. Are these updates really cost effective for klipich on the heritage line, cause I wonder how many new heritage line speakers would be actually sold as new if changes were made to the existing line with the so called improvements that can be made to the horns or network upgrades. It seems to me most of us that get into klipsch buy the products used and upgrade the old to what we like as new to ourselves. Maybe the reason the other lines have some of the improvements that we all talk about in them is cause its more cost effective to design from the start of the project instead of doing a late model upgrade in the heritage product line. Me I kind of like the line the way it is. To me its them staying true to what they started. This may not even compare but how nice it would be to go to a GM dealership and buy a 1966 corvette stingray just as it was then. Some like things how they are and I'm cool with that and thanks for allowing us to upgrade and try thing out for our own so called improvements. with that said btw thanks alk for my es500and es 4500 networks I love them but my speakers are in storage and haven't heard them for like 4 months arrrrgggghhhh I hope this make sense or you can at least understand what I meant.
  14. That would probaly be me. Call me crazy but i envision situations like this when i take pictures and mentaly think how i would react and my mind keeps telling me to click away. Ihave done this on a drift track when the cars slid off the road and towards me and i just click away and they stop short of me. Dumb yes but its fun. And as i typ this my friend that i sent the link to replyed to me "sounds like something you'd be caught doing lol"
