  1. I have a 5.2.2 setup. Atmos speakers in the ceiling. With movies the effects are significantly better than configuring it as a 7.2 setup. If your receiver is Atmos capable, just configure it that way. You can switch back and forth to see what you prefer if you want.
  2. Surrounds don't go in the ceiling, Atmos speakers do. You'll just need to configure your receiver to be a 5.1.2 setup with the .2 being in-ceiling or height, whichever your receiver will allow. The most popular in-ceiling speaker for this application is the CDT-5800.
  3. Wouldn't it be more appropriate if Heritage were a wrinkly old lady in her 80s?
  4. Play some music and stick your ear right next to the Quartet tweeters and see if they’re making sound.
  5. Despite what you might think, a lot of people including me were raised with values that would make any police presence unnecessary.
  6. I’ve lived in Minnesota my entire life and I’ve never even sat on a snowmobile! 😄
  7. This is a link from last year but there's 360 miles of snowmobile trails here! Let's RIDE! Alexandria Area Snowmobile Trails are OPEN! - Explore Alexandria Minnesota
  8. Tons of awesome lakes and resorts where I live. Summers are beautiful here. If you’re ever in the area you’re more than welcome to stop by!
  9. The camaraderie of this forum is amazing. That said, I’d like to offer anyone in the area a listening session if they’d be interested. My setup consists of three original Heresy across the front, each with the covered K-55V dual phase plug midrange drivers and refreshed crossover networks from JEM. Surrounds are Heresy 1.5. Atmos are AW-650. Subwoofers are Bill Fitzmaurice Tuba Home Theater design, horn loaded each with a 15” woofer. It’s the most amazing home theater I’ve ever had or heard. So, if anyone is ever in the Alexandria, MN area and would like to stop by and experience it, just let me know! I have tons of reference 4K and Blu-ray Discs, Amazon Music to stream any music you’d like, etc.
  10. I’m not knowledgeable enough regarding the design of these, but all I can say is if they are anything like the THTs that I have and if you’ve never experienced horn loaded bass before, you’ll never go back to a direct radiating subwoofer again. Horn loaded bass can go from incredibly detailed and precise one second to making your couch feel like it’s levitating off the ground a second later. The incredible efficiency, lack of distortion and sheer output capability is something everyone should experience.
  11. Haha. I had my best friend over a few months ago and he just laughed when he saw the subs. I played the first 5 minutes of Star Wars IX for him at reference level. He’s the one who got me into Klipsch decades ago.
  12. Thanks. This forum has been and is awesome. I’ve never seen camaraderie like this on other forums I’ve belonged to.
  13. If you click on the above links you’ll see the new prices. I really can’t go any lower than the individual prices unless you buy more than one pair. I need to sell these ASAP due to financial reasons. It really sucks but it is what it is.
  14. What I’d recommend is removing the back panel, locate the crossover network and unscrew and tighten each of the input/output screws on it. That will remove years of oxidation and give a much better contact point. The only other thing I’d recommend would be contact JEM Performance Audio or forum member @Deang in regard to replacing the original oil can capacitors with new capacitors.
  15. All is not well unfortunately. Thus the sale of these, my Heresys, etc. Hoping everything improves eventually.
  16. Thanks. If anyone wants to experience the most amazing tactile bass with virtually zero distortion there’s no commercial subwoofer that would even touch these for at least ten times the price. By the way, with very minimal EQ these subs are +- 3dB from 18Hz to 80Hz in my room. This was with a steep 17Hz high-pass filter I added through the miniDSP. Attached is the final frequency sweep with both subs running.
  17. I purchased these from forum member Rowan611 who built them himself. If you’ve never experienced a horn loaded subwoofer before, you’re in for a treat. Each cabinet is 36” tall, 36” deep and 24” wide. They each have a Dayton 15” woofer that Bill Fitzmaurice specifically recommends for this build. They are finished in Duratex so any dings or scratches are extremely easy to refinish. They each weigh around 150 pounds. I purchased these for $400 each plus $75 for the amplifier = $875. I am looking to sell these ASAP and would vastly prefer to sell everything together. If you buy both THTs and the amp you can have everything for $650. For the money, you will never experience anything even remotely close to the output and clarity these are capable of. They are set up and ready to demonstrate. I am located in Alexandria Minnesota and due to their size there’s no way I can ship these. I have speaker wire with SpeakOn connectors that will be included since the THTs have SpeakOn inputs.
  18. Current price if you order the combo directly from Minidsp.com is $304. You can buy my combo for $150 shipped anywhere in the CONUS. I bought these to calibrate my THT subwoofers. The miniDSP works in conjunction with free REW software that you can download. There are tutorial videos on YouTube showing how to use the software. I’ll have to do some looking but I’m 99% sure I have the original boxes for both of them.
