Cool, didn't expect to hear so many positive responses since I hadn't ever heard of the QSC brand name before. Now someone just needs to buy my RF-7s! []

I've owned them for 1 year. They are approximately 2 years old. I will deliver them up to 100 miles from central Minnesota free of charge. Willing to meet someone 100 miles from central Minnesota as well.
There are some bumps on the corners, and the grills have broken feet on them (don't they all?) but they have enough intact feet that they both stay on just fine. The top right corner of one of the speakers has a repaired crack in the front board but with the grills on it is very difficult to see. See the pics for details. Asking $1000/bo.

Isn't LG the bottom of the barrel stuff that places like Ultimate Electronics and Best Buy sell?

I noticed that this amp has XLR and 1/4" inputs. Is it difficult to get an adaptor that goes from RCA to 1/4"? Is there any degredation in sound by doing so?
Do these amps have a good reputation?

Stable into reactive or mismatched loadsI can pick one up pretty cheap. I also still have my RF-7s that I have up for sale on craigslist but if the amp is good I'd be interested to see how they sounded with the QSC.
Also would my HK be an ok pre-amp for this?

Typically if you get a good quality shielded cable it should fix the problem. Are you using decent cable or the el cheapo stuff?

Lets go head to head your hk 3480 against my hk3480!!! Mine is stock though!
Lol, mine's stock too. Maybe I could open it up and throw a few random tubes in there and see how it changes the sound. I can just hear the warmth already!

Threads like this is what makes this forum so great. Starts out all mushy & romantic, ends up in an amp testing challange...the dichotomy of man.[H]
At first I thought "Wow, lots of people posted their congratulations!" Then I see the conversation go downhill. Oh well.
Anyone up for a no-holds-barred HK 3480 versus anything you got contest? [] (Just thought I'd join in on the fun)

Well my wife came home and was surprised to see the lit candles. She read the card I got for her and loved the flowers. Then I asked her if she could figure out why I lit 5 candles. It took her a few seconds and then she was embarassed that she didn't remember the date. HA! Score 1 for me! []
We drove an hour to the Italian restaurant and we had fried ravioli for an appetizer (incredible!), ziti al forno (shrimp and chicken with ziti and cheese and ham...wow) and for dessert two cannolis. I'm so stuffed right now, and I have about half of the ziti in the fridge to take to work tomorrow and my wife has a whole cannoli to enjoy.
It was fun to surprise her. She had planned to spend the evening cleaning the house. I think she enjoyed my plan just a little better.

Enjoy! I've loved every minute of mine.

If you already have a 3380, I don't know how much improvement that a 3480 is going to make. You'll have a few more watts and that's about it. As mentioned above the vMax isn't something that's too thrilling to listen to. Going from 3380 to 3480 is going to be pretty much a sideways move.
If you go to a nice Rotel or Outlaw unit I'd say you'd be making a jump up in quality from the HK.
Also, most receivers such as the Outlaw have a mode that you can defeat the bass management from the receiver and allow the sub to do it itself. I'd look into that before ruling that out. Outlaw has a great reputation on here.

I know, I know. Call me a romantic fool but I think that I should do something special for my wife tonight considering 5 years ago tonight she agreed to marry me.
So far I have: Lit 5 candles in a hanging chandelier-type thing in our dining room, bought her a beautiful floral bouquet and a nice card to go with it.
She has to work until 7pm tonight and I have a nice dinner planned at her favorite Italian restaurant (Biaggi's in Maple Grove, MN). I'm not going to tell her where we're going. She'll probably figure it out when we get close, though.
I knew picking January 1st would make it easy to remember when I popped the question! [A]
And, considering that everything in my signature below (with the exception of our TV) was purchased in 2006, I have quite a bit to be thankful for!

Thanks for the replies guys. I wish I could try them out with my speakers before I committed to them.

I've done that every once in a while on a car forum that I frequent. Look up some really old topic from long ago and post a reply and see who the first to notice how old the thread is. Once I replied to a topic that had been started by a guy who scammed several people out of some $$ who had purchased parts from him but never received them. Some people thought he was crass enough to come back to the forum as if nothing ever happened. Then they realized they were replying to something that was from 2001.
Ah what fun the internet can bring.

Hi everyone Happy new Year Thanks for the replies [] .Had used Denon and then changed to Yamaha 1600 . The surrounds are more detailed and all speakers are crisp....Just type klipsch and Yamaha in google search and you can see from sep2004 Klipsch had been working hand in hand with yamaha japan to get better performance . so i think ideally Yamaha suits Klipsch very much. Tell me your ideas too.... The RF-7 has been always on top and now replaced with RF-82 smaller drivers and an extra driver added in order to compensate smaller width but depth is increased to maintain the volume of the cabinet.
RF-83 is actually the top Reference model currently. Glad you found a good match to your speakers!

No, more than happy with my 2 channel setup right now. I've just been keeping my eyes out for an external amp so I can use my h/k as a pre-amp.

Whew! Glad to hear everything was mostly ok! My wife did something similar with our washing machine's drain hose once and fortunately for us we have a drain in the floor. There still was a lot of water around that took awhile to clean up. The way our basement is designed is that in our laundry room we have a few inches of cement coming up from the floor as supports for the wall and sheet rock. Fortunately the water never even got close to going above that level.
Good thing, because there's just a few $$ worth of Klipsch speakers just on the other side of that wall! []

The vMax is really not something you'd probably use much or like. It works somewhat decently for live music as it makes the sound be much more dispersed around you. However it kills the imaging of the sound signal and unless you're sitting dead center in the sweet spot it doesn't do any good.
You can probably find the 3480 for $150-$175 on eBay. I did a buy-it-now for $175 and the 3480 was only a couple months old in mint condition with the box, manual, remote, etc. The 120 watts x 2 versus 80 watts x 2 might not be hugely noticeable, but if you're going to have the unit a while you may as well spend just a little more $$ and get the 3480.
I agree with what you say about the coolness factor. HK really did a great job to the cosmetics of the unit!

Lookin good! Any way to move the front speakers just a little farther apart and toe them in towards the central listening position? I think you'll like the results!
can someone help me date this Heresy please? 8545164.

Best way is to just be yourself. Be honest but not too honest. Dinner and a movie is usually a good place to start.
