  1. If I wouldn't have ran across such a screaming deal on the pair of Forte IIs that I bought I probably would have used that money to get DeanG's crossover upgrades and would have kept my RF-7s.

That being said, I just didn't have the $$ to get quality amplification that is necessary for the RF-7s. The Fortes and the KLF30s I have work awesome with my H/K amp.

  2. What American accent do you have?

    Your Result: North Central

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

Yikes. Even got the Minnesota part right! [:o]

  3. Virtually all subs have gain controls that let you blend the sub's output with your receiver/speakers.

I certainly like my SVS, although it is better suited for movies that have lots of LFE effects. I have it crossed over at about 55Hz. Music has some information below 55Hz, but not much depending on the type of music you listen to.

The RSW-15 from Klipsch has what many describe as excellent bass 'slam' and isn't the least bit boomy.

The physical location of the sub in the room can also play a large part in how well it blends with the other speakers and also with how tight or boomy it sounds.

  4. Fun movie to watch. Not a ton of LFE information, but enough. When Mack the semi fires up his engine it seemed like there was a semi right in my room! [:o]

  5. Those Forte II's will sound a lot better with more optimum placement.

Yep, they were on the outside until today. I just moved them to the inside so I could get a better feel for the KLF30s. Trust me, I will be rocking the KLF30s until the last second possible when my friend finally comes to pick them up. No idea how long that will be, but it could be quite a while.

Just got done to listening to Queen...good thing my house is 66 years old and the foundation and walls are nice and settled! I can imagine causing some serious structural damage with any house less than 15 years old with these monsters! [:o]

  6. Did you have your computer hooked up to your old receiver or were you using something different?

Also, just make sure the treble, bass and volume knobs are centered as well. Sometimes its easy to overlook little things.

One time I accidentally hit the xMax surround button without realizing it too. It makes everything sound really weird, I personally don't care for it.

  7. So your Forte IIs are Oiled Oak also? At first I thought they looked too dark, but the color is really growing on me. I like them much, much better than the light oak KLF30s that my best friend just bought. (The color that is, the KLF30s certainly blow the Fortes out of the water as far as sensitivity, but there's something about the Fortes that edges out the KLFs just a wee bit.)

  8. For best signal transfer its best to go from your cable box into your receiver. You'll benefit by having a shorter signal path and less possibility of interference from other components and wires.

For video, unless you don't have enough inputs on your TV for everything you hook up to it, I'd just connect the video output from your cable box directly to your TV.
