Do the RF7 II's improve with Dean's crossover upgrade?

Thanks for the response. I do have a rather large pro sub made by JTR which has two 18" drivers with an internal 4000 watt amp. So I have plenty of bass, just thought that raising the horn to ear level might be beneficial.

I have a very nice pair of custom made anchor sound speaker stands that will raise the Cornwall III's 23". Is this preferable to just placing them on the hardwood floor?

Ceiling speakers are never as good as freestanding period. They also are positioned incorrectly for a true 5.1 or 7.1 setup. The rear speakers optimally should go on the side walls just above your ear level and not directly overhead from the ceiling. With that said, my wife got me to install in ceiling speakers in our formal living room....its passable but not like my dedicated home theater with all speakers either freestanding or mounted on the walls. The difference is quite large imho. It's all about compromise I suppose. Cheers...

I'm sorry if I offended anyone on this board. I have a habit of speaking my mind and what I stated is strictly my own consensus. Take it for what it's worth, just my own humble opinion. Bottom line is: if it sound good to you then damn it, it is good.

All I can do is give "free" advice my friend. I hate the Yammies of the world. This in my humble opinion but someone that has been in the a/v business for 15+ years. Look at some of the wonderful companies out there to choose from...i.e. Outlaw for their performance and price ratio; same goes for SVS Sound...just excellent subs for the $. Shop before you buy, try it before you buy as well! Cheers!

Hope you ae enjoying your Yamaha but I do think you could have done better, a lot better. Yamaha products are still mass produced Japanese boxes, apparently soon to be available at Target and Walmart. Nothing wrong in your deal, I think separates are certainly the way to go and it's a start. Look at Rotel; Cinenova Grande's, Sunfire, even Outlaw which would be comparative in price to your Yamaha but would beat the spec's off of it. Good luck!

The Sunfire is not in the same leage as the Macintosh amps or pre/amps. It's like comparing a Yugo to a Ferrari, yes they are that far apart. If you can afford the Mac, go for it and don't settle for a cheaper unit that aspires to be better.

It really depends on your predispositon to both being created for the same application. Yes, it really falls back to your specific layout and how you respond to the said frequency's (Kenneth). Hope that helps!

Just do a search on: Dean's Crossover.......but I'm afraid if you have to ask you may not appreicate what it can do for you. Subtle but quite effective reworking of your crossovers with better components than what Klipsch provides. Wonderful detail can be heard.

Your receiver is a toy....time to upgrade to a beefier set-up. My RF-7's with DG's crossovers are powered by 320+watts via a Cinenova Grande 7 amp. Before this, my RF-7's sounded like bookshelf speakers. They may be efficient but do need as much power as you can afford. Get yourself a decent pre/pro....an Outlaw 990 is mucho bang for the buck...best I have heard. And don't waste your money on a Klipsch sub. Try a SVS product...just about anything in their line will suffice. Bottom line: don't give up your 7's, you'll just have more of the same. And separates are the only way to go to bring your Klipsch up to their potential. Goodl luck@!

Generally speaking, Jamo's are considered a low end speaker but with the correct components should bring them up somewhat. Suggest heavy amplification and I mean heavy for these inheriently inefficient boxes. Of course there is always Audiogon. Did you per chance use Jamo's so-called SoundGuide tool to make your speaker selection process easier? The guide is based on ones answers to basic questions such as how big the listening room is and what kind of sound characteristics is preferred. It may have helped but I guess it's too late. Get yourself some borax, some wood glue and a matching stain. The borax interacts with the glue to create a nice filler and will color, damn it looks nice. Stable is another consideration.

I have the Outlaw 990 and compared it recently to a Mcintosh C1000P (transistor) preamp which has nine sources each, including both moving-coil (MC) and moving-magnet (MM) inputs. There are three sets of balanced inputs and four sets of unbalanced, not including the unbalanced MM/MC inputs. Three sets of balanced outputs allow for convenient triamping, if you're so inclined. Two unbalanced outputs allow for biamping in unbalanced mode. Because each preamp has its own inputs and outputs, double runs of cables are required for each amplifier channel, for a total of four for a conventionally amplified system, or twelve cables for a balanced triamplified stereo system. Both preamps convert unbalanced signals to balanced, and vice versa. Too tell you the truth, I leaned towards the Outlaw 990 in sound but it is damn ugly, and I mean butt ugly. But if you can bag it, get it.

I remember when I went to a Grateful Dead concert in Oakland on a first date. Everyone was soooo stoned and at intermission and the lights came on, a couple were fornicating on the floor buck naked.
